Lethbridge Thunderstorm July 17 2013
This is a time lapse of the severe thunderstorm that hit Lethbridge, AB on July 17. This was taken on the south end of the city.
We have cable now so I took the sattelite down after the storm.
On a side note, if anyone here is interested in hearing some original music, check out my band Under The White Dime on KZread, also acoustic music from Commander Xander

It was just over 2 hours, from around 4:30 to 6:45
AMAZING! Thanks for posting it!
Supercell? (Noticed a Mesocyclone looking thing hanging low right before the rain, which seemed to be feed by updrafts)

That's the inflow band/ beaver's tail, or a band of warm air is drawn into the updraft. The true mesocyclone is to the left.

guy mesocyclone it's the base of supercell structure :D
Great video! I grew up in Lethbridge, and recall several summer storms like this one (albeit, without a tornado)
I was expecting the storm, I actually just got this camera last week so this is the first time I've had it up. It ended up turning out better then I thought it would.

Cameron Prince i got Rain super Rain.
Tornadoes and Supercell thunderstorms are a fact of life here in Alberta. Out here is Tornado Country.
Excellent work Cameron !
Really cool video, I love watching storms gather and roll through. I've been in a few scary ones but nothing that produced a tornado. Just the green sky as the storm is rolling in I really liked the way this storm seemed to start spinning in a couple different occasions then the 90 degree shift in cloud direction at the end.
Awesome vid. Seeing the storm roll in and unleash... amazing!
Very cool and a very good job with your camera. Thx. I used to live in Lethbridge and Ft MacLeod so I really when people tell me how windy Calgary is.
Fantastic video of the storm Cameron....I shared this :)
Thank you
That inflow is spectacular. That rfd just slams down.
Thank you.
Great time lapse!
Around :50 in is when the sky really starts to get scary. Thanks for sharing this!
When bad things happen to nice afternoons! Fascinating video.
Nice supercell. You could clearly see the rotation in that storm.
this is so ominous and spectacular at the same time
Awesome video!
I love it,amazing pics
Very cool. Nice work!
Awesome Video!
Beautiful.
that was very neat!!!
This storm hit Medicine Hat as well. I ran down the street during it and came back looking like i was just swimming! IT WAS AWESOME!
That poor satilite dish :(
crazy stuff thanks for sharing
It's crazy how fast the big puddle evaporates afterward!
Talk about being right at the edge of a storm system. Nice vid.
Holy crap and you shot this all in one day? I never knew about the storm and I live only a few hundred kilometers away!!!
Did you guys see the satellite dish get pushed over?
Awesome! One heck of a thunderstorm
Damn I used to live there, and in that area too! Wow!
That is awesome. Nature at it's finest.
my aunt was driving through the city at that time and posted a video of the storm on FB, it was classed as a micro burst, No tornado involved.
it was insane how fast it rolled in, then out again, the worst part of the storm was no more than 10-15 mins, but the amount of damage it caused was unreal!!!!
Great vid! What was the interval rate set for?
True steve - I lived in Texas for a time and the storms caome and seemed to dump 10 inched - in 10 minutes, then clear - and windy! The drains in the streets were huge!! To accomodate the deluge
awesum .. incredible vid .... the power of Mother Nature in a brief bit of time ... well done ....
we had the exact same thing here but was 30 mins long with major power outage and damage from trees from lightning, Im in Pembroke Ontario
Awesome video! What direction is this facing?
hi ive been wanting a go pro hero 3 and I kinda like the wide angle (fish eye effect). is this video taken with the housing intact? meaning the camera will still have the fish eye effect even when the housing is on? pls reply thsank you
This explains why when we came home there were trees split in half from the lightning all over the park... I was lucky enough not to be here when this happened! This is crazy!
Got a short shower and some thunder in vauxhall. This country is crazy. The ridiculous weather swings that occur in the space of a few hours...geez!
Looked like it almost formed a Nato pretty hard core what type of equipment did you use to film this?
I live up in the capital of Alberta and we had a REAL bad thunderstorm a few days ago
Life is beautiful and special!
this made my high time a good time
Hey neighbour, I'm 2 houses down from you! Did you set this up anticipating the storm or you've always got it up there?
That must of been like a 3 hour storm
Great Video
Wow! What a great video. Well done! Too bad for those who have suffered damage because of the storm...but that is what insurance is for.
That's crazy cam!!!
Lethbridge was fucked up after this. Trailers were thrown through fences, trees and windows broken, and signs snapped in half all over the south side.
Pretty violent storm. You know, we have extreme weather like this in the Philippines.
Cameron Prince Change your video comment settings. Change it to "Approved Comments only" Get rid of these trolls. Great Vid by the way.
That's cool when it rolls in
1:04 holy shit
I live in Quebec at Lac Beuport and this storm was pretty bad at my place
Cool vid!!
Beautiful Nature
awesome !!!!
That looks sick
How long of a time period is this video?
Bet you have great reception on your satellite now with it pointed at the roof lol crazy vid
Awesome....
VERY cool video
roughly how long should i wait before thanking you?
Why do the clouds look so close? :/
This is in the exact date i was born
Well, that escalated quickly.
How deep were the flood waters outside your house at the end?
What kind of camera did you use?
I was there, but I didn't need an umbrella, the rain was to afraid to hit me.
0:56 Did that person in the car way over there just go forwards then backwards?
I love the Storm😍
I live in lethbridge where about in lethbridge was this
Wicked dude!
Well, that escalated quickly
Awesome :)
Yea that's a pretty wicked supercell. Around July to late August they get tornadoes because of the migration of the jet stream moving north. I live in Arkansas & we got 24" of snow in February so it's just the nature of climate.
Is this in Fairmont?
I think something similar like this happened in Montreal.
You know that picture circling the Internet of the storm focused on one point in the ocean with the caption "fuck this area in particular"? I feel that's what's going on in Southern Alberta.
this video is awesome ... so is this weed ... this video + this weed = awesome ... this kinda reminds me of Breaking Bad ... how they do time lapse cuts ...
Thats so heavy but just 3 minutes the minimum visibility just 50-100 meter i thought
Scary development to the left of the screen
We watched that from the North side.
Top !
Awesome
1:05 - when the satellite dish folds over ;) Well played, Mother Nature. You win this time.
Where's the King of the Hill soundtrack when you need it.
is it me or dose the aftermath look really pretty :)
Hope you got your satellite dish fixed :)
Did you notice your satellite dish towards the middle of the video??
theres a huge storm over my place in ontario
WOW!
i think it got hook echo
How long did the storm actually last? I heard it wasn't very long, my guess was about 20 minutes (I mean, the worst of the storm, where it rained that hard)

No check that channel comment and the heaviest rain just 2 seconds here per 106 seconds as total and the time lapse duration just 130 minutes so the heaviest rain just 3 minutes but can reach more than 60 inches per hour
