He is an amazing bass player.
I remember attending a show of a Rage Against the Machine tribute band and asking their bass player why he wasn't playing a Stingray. His reply: "Tim never played a Stingray" but he quickly had to eat his words when I showed him the videos of "Killing in the name" and "Bullet in the head." at which seemingly a light went on his head. "So THAT'S why I never got that sound right..." But yeah, for many players, Tim Commerford is a Fender Jazz player.

@@melozocco23 Thats how much it costs to pay workers in California a fair wage, give them decent healthcare and a pension plan, and to use materials that aren’t from questionable sources that may be contributing to deforestation. Sure Squire can turn out a beautiful guitar in Indonesia for $350... But the conditions in that factory were so bad at one point, a worker literally set themselves on fire outside the factory gates in protest... And it still took a group of workers pooling their wages together to fly over to a NAMM show and hand out flyers about their plight near the Fender booth, for Fender to give a shit.

Not gonna lie, I’m super jealous. Timmy C is a major influence. Awesome that you got your hands on one of those!
he used a Musicman on the first album..then used fender jazz basses up til a few years ago then came back to the stingray....well deserved Tim rules !
I need one so badly!!!! He’s the reason I play and own stingray basses!! I need this!!
Yes Timmy’s been a beast for so long!
I love Stingrays and what a bass! This model is all about sobriety in combination with efficiency! Great great great job Musicman
Been waiting on this (I figure it would come at some point). I also like that the thumb rest screws down flat and level to the pickguard (I’d use it, but smart to think of a way to get rid of it). I just wish the natural colored one was also active.
Awesome vid! 👊🏽😎 My neck hurts
Cada vez me estoy enamorando mas del Musicman Stingray, talvez no esta version signature por el precio, pero el sonido es inmenso, ademas tu polera AND BASS FOR ALL buenisimaaaaa

What about the ramp? Is it able to be adjusted right under the strings? I would’ve like to see you talk more about that.
YEAHHH
Do you know of anyone who makes the finger ramps separately? I'd love to put them on my stingray & sub basses. great video man :)
What distortion pedal was you using?
So, the bass clip @ 7:33 I admit to being quite out of the loop with the cool music, but what was it? Really loved that groove.
I may have missed this in your review, but do you know if the active model uses the new "Stingray Special" preamp or the older, brighter sounding preamp?
For differents type of a signature model, you have the Hammer, Stu Ham signature by Washburn that have a few different color and pick up configuration. I have one, and they really are good
Tim is an amazing fingerstyle bassist
I couldn’t agree more about the stingray neck. There is just something about it that I can’t quite put my finger on. I have a p Bass and jazz as well but they’re just not quite as comfortable as the stingray, they really found that sweet spot

Ask MM how much goes to TC and what he is doing with the money, you can ask Tim but it is still his decision and live not what you may see in it or RATM. I don't think its over priced compared to the base SR4 Special, I just think the base price of EBMM is too much these days. There is many nice basses going up for sale from folks trying to get this though, some really good deals less than half of what this cost
Damn you Patrick, you can tell Music Man, that you triggered at least one purchase ;-) Yeah, it's expensive, yeah, it doesn't have much special to it, but there's something about it, that totally overrode my reasonable thinking...

I know, I feel that the stingray sweet spot is a bit closer to the neck than the pickup itself.
A shit load of attack on this bass
I think I'd rather have the EMBB StingRay Special HH. Not only is it significantly cheaper than this signature model, but it's offered in more interesting colors. And the dual humbuckers give you more tonal options. I like that this one includes the string mutes and the finger ramp, but you can buy and put those on yourself separately for much cheaper.
Hate stingrays but you made them sound good.
Nice as this is I don't think I'll afford anything more than a sterling
