Let's work on a beginner friendly quilt that uses just one charm pack. Easy and simple. Pattern link

Here is the finished quilt: • This is video 2 to see...
This tutorial will show you every step along the way as I put this quilt together. It's a great video for a beginner or just to refresh your quilting skills. The quilt I make is from "Just One Charm Pack" by Cheryl Brickey and it truly only used one charm pack. Fabric y Mitzi Powers for Benartex called Dori.
You will see how I pick the pattern, fabric and determine size options. There is even a bonus project at the end.

Love the charm quilt and pillow cover. So bright and cheerful. ❤

Thank you! 😊
I love how our minds all work differently. The colors in the charm pack are wonderful. Watching you audition them with the various backgrounds tickled me though because as soon as I saw the charm pack my mind thought of either black or grey or a deep navy for the background. I do enjoy watching you though.

Thank you. I appreciate your comment and inspiration.
I love the charm pack you chose! Right up my alley! Thank you for sharing your process in selecting the contrast and backing fabrics! Very useful info and I appreciate you explaining why you did or didn’t choose a particular fabric. This is something I struggle with and am not confident in doing. Thanks fir helping me learn!

I have this book and was wanting to get started on a project. I like that you had extra to make the pillow cover

I need to make another quilt from this book soon. I hope you like the book too.
Love listening to your thought process as you choose your colors. I always struggle with color choices. You did a great job explaining and demonstrating. Seeing and hearing a real person as she takes her quilting journey is always inspiring.

Use 2 or 3 for color stripes, you don't HAVE to use just one color stripe. Good Tips, Cute pillow and wall hanging or quilt, thanks for the video and your time.

I liked the pink. The blue is nice also, but my favorite with great contrast is pink.

That is one happy quilt with the bright colors. This book would be great for charity quilts. Great job! That would be really cute for a Easter quilt.

Great idea. I like it.
The quilt turned out really cute! I like all the colors in the charm pack. I need to go look through mine and see if I have a lonely one that wants to be in a quilt, hehe.

So pretty, and what a great idea for extra charm square to make a coordinating pillow cover. I really like the idea of lining it. So glad I found your channel, I will definitely need to check out this book.

I have the book I my Kindle and I'm still like you...which one? I think that would be awesome to replace the white with a dark fabric but not necessarily black. Love your choice of colors.

I also love the charm pack she chose! So vibrant and cheerful! I’ve seen a lot of quilts recently using a medium gray and they’re also awesome!
With the Coin Flip pattern , you could almost use a jelly roll which I think would make it bigger too

Love it! Did you iron your seams to any particular side? Love that charm pack...🥰

Yes I did - mostly to the dark side
What size do the blocks square to? And what size pillow form will you use?
@SoftSquares
2 жыл бұрын
in the video I tell you. the blocks are 14" X 14" and the pillow cover ended up to be 15" X 20". I am going to make my own pillow form because it is not a standard size. i hope this helps.
You can also add more blocks with another charm pack to make it bigger
@SoftSquares

yes you can, but I was trying to stick with the "just one" idea.
It took 15 (approx) minutes for a decision on what fabrics to use so I just fast forwarded to where you began to start cutting up fabric.

Wouldn’t they all be small if they’re made with just one charm pack?

It depends on what you put with them. Background and borders can add a lot to them.
Have recently found your channel and am loving the content. However, make you mind up as to what you are calling these things. Is it a "Blanket" or is it a "Quilt"??? You seem to flip flop between both words. They are similar but definition wise totally different. Hint to what to call it is actually on the book cover and apparently in the title of your video. 🙂

Robin, could you have possibly just made a positive comment or no comment at all? If you’re not interested in watching her process in choosing the other fabrics for the quilt, you could have simply just quit watching or fast forwarded through that part. Personally, I find this portion of the video very helpful. Helps teach me how and why to chose the background or contrast fabrics. I think she made some very good points! And I’m going to assume that “huge stash” has been accumulated over time. Having a variety of whites/off whites / and some solid primary colors is extremely useful when you need to put a quilt together quickly. It usually takes way less energy to be kind! Ugly comments are a reflection of you, not the KZreadr who has taken the huge amount of time and energy to make a video and the cost involved. Hope your Friday was great!
