Raise the sub enclosure a few inches and that fixes a lot of issues. I had 4 w6 v2 12s in a discount mall or bestco sealed box in my extended cab silverado and it use to slap and I had it on my jl slash 300/4 for the longest. I remember catching notes in songs I knew well but I guess I didn't know that well because those notes were new. I need to get up with you since we both are in Atlanta too. I got a cts that needs a spare tire sub setup

My sundown only bangs if I fire it up in my crew cab. Firing backward its didn’t bang either. Super weird. I did a down fire and it did good but I’m afraid to buy a forward fire worried it won’t sound good

You're dropping some truth. I learned a lot of these the hard way with my old Z. I had custom enclosures to save cargo space in the hatch. I ran two JLA 12s that sounded like doodoo. At the advice of a friend, I went to a single JLA10 with a better designed box, and that thing beat significantly harder than the two 12s ever thought about doing. Air space was my biggest problem.

got a pair of skar evl 6.5 subs under back seat of a 2013 sierra port facing forward 1.55 cf ported at 36 hz plays down to 28 hz loud shakes every thing everyone thinks they are 10's i been in car audio for 30 years and you are totally correct that the box with proper airspace will sound much better than bigger subs in less than optimal airspace keep up the good work you post good stuff

I have a 2012 GMC Sierra WT. I am a mobile electronics repair business and have the toolbox under my back seat. I am running a Rockford Fosgate 1200-1D driving a Skar Audio EVL-10 D2. I made a sealed enclosure (To Skars specs using Rockford Fosgates box builder app) and replaced rhe jump seat in middle of the front seats with the box. Then mounted the factory armrest on it. The sub fires towards the back seat. The sub sits right at the back of the armrest so there is 11 inches of open space. It works VERY well!!

Its a long journey but the best place to start is learning the difference between series and parallel wiring. Its kinda the front door to understanding whats going on, and a whole lot will be come clear once you learn it. Just have someone show you with two speakers or on paper, its easy! Old white guy. lol

I have no issues porting out the front and reaching 33hz. Also Keeping the same width on port is easy to do with a 90 degree in the port on a truck box. If you’re 8”H on rear and 10”H on front I calculate the port at 9” on height

Great video I've had 2 and 4 and i agree about two more powerful 8s vs 4, especially because of the limited air space. I also bought one of those boxes you're speaking of with the small forward port and want to close it and change that to a tube aeroport. Do you think the aeroport would help? Can the box be fixed or start over? Lastly do you feel the same way about Gatelyaudio boxes that have the forward facing port?

Want to see these boxes of yours in contest please!!! And your Kickers, they have the cone area but they lack stroke, wich makes up for the lack of cone area on most of the competition subs of today. Did you forget to talk about that ?????

First off im glad I discovered your channel. Ive been binge watching yoir channel and love the contenent. Anyhow, I have a 2016 Nissan Titan XD Platinum Reserve with the fosgate system. Im currently running an Audio Control Lc2i, a JBL 1001EZ on four American Bass xd844 subs in a sealed box from SoundOff Audio. Needless to say im not happy with the sound, especially the low lows. I want to switch it up and maybe go with two L7q 8s or two G5 8s. I want a box that will really hit the lows but not sacrifice too much on sound quality. I have no problem upgrading to a differnt amp if need be. Assuming you are able to build and enclosure, what subs would you recommend if you were building an enclosure for my truck. I have a megacab I was going to build a box for 3 8” subs for behind the seats facing up, just asking for your opinion on what I should do with the port and even if you think I’ll be able to install them facing up without losing the function of my back seats, I was also considering 6.5” subs with 4 of them. I want it to be LOUD I’ll be running a ct sounds 4000.1 amp and either mojo 8” or mojo 6.5” or ct sounds meso subs

I knew a co worker with a tacoma with with 2 10w6s downfiring in a slot ported I could hear him blocks away on a Memphis 500d, so I disagree on that point of the cone firing down. I'm curious how your thinking is because I saw 2 8s in your truck fired up and the port on the passenger side... or would underneath vs rear cabinet make a huge difference

@MBEnclosures how about single cab behind the seat boxes? If leg room can be sacrificed do you prefer firing up to firing into the back of the seat for the same reasons?

What do you recommend for a 2000 dodge Ram extended cab? I want good sound without taking up the whole back seat. Id like to put something under the back seat and still be able to use the seat. I don’t know a lot about subs. It’s for my son. I’m open to any suggestions and would really appreciate any advice you have to give as far as type of speakers, size, brand, amp and enclosure.I have about 1k to spend. So Im looking at building my own box, looking to put in two 8's, probably meso-8's in an under seat box, I have kids and know they would kick the cones. Was wondering what it would be like to fire the subs at each other under the seat almost like a 4th order type box. Opinions?

ik what your talking about, ik there’s a way you have to lift or cut the carpet or something like that and there’s screws i believe to take that part out so the subs can be facing forward. that’s what my cousin was telling me and a guy i knew who also did that too

How would you do a forward firing enclosure, sealed for one 8 (2 enclosures) for an Avalanche, while retaining full use of the midgate?

Take out 1 10 and cover up the hole. It will sound waaay better!

Question , if I have a 12 inch sub that requires 3 cubic feet and added two more of the same sub must I add 6 more cubic feet if the subs are not chambered? Thank you!!

What would you recommend for deep lows in a 15 silverado quad cab?

I have a new supercrew f150 and am curious if the box space would be good enough for 4 8's or if I would be better off doing 2 8's. Your port tuning is the size of hole and length or the port no matter if you have a bend in the port or not it’s going to be the same tuning frequency. And bass is not created from the cone on the outside of the box. In a ported box the sound comes from the port

Man I’m struggling trying to find a box for my truck. I have two 10’s. There kickers. What’s the best box for a 2021 RAM 1500 Big Horn🤔

Ive had a few trucks and a bunch of different sub set ups. With small subs go sealed. Its gonna hit harder, lower, sound better and take a little more power. Right now im running 3 JBL GT10s sealed, behind the seats(racing buckets in a crew cab) at 1.3ohms off a 1500 watt amp. It romps harder than the subs will take- surround detached. Under the seat, 1 10 sealed, down firing will sound great and have just a little bump. You gotta make space if you want crazy bass, plain and simple.

Have u tried with aero port? I building for my truck. And I ordered a 4" aero from Port Precision, has both sides flaired. They have there own calculator of port tune on there website. For my 2.75-3cf enclosure came to only 9" port.. seems off because in this video he has 28" port...

@@lylegoodluck I have not but the only thing the flares do is smooth the flow of air as it enters and exits the box. U can use SubBox Calculator to figure what port length you need or want. When measuring flared ports you only measure the straight part of the tube. I have 3 jbl gt 10s in a similar sized box, it didnt sound as good ported.

@@lylegoodluck Right on! My 10s are on 1200 watts and will blurr your vision- lol. Let me know how it sounds. Ive got two Lowballer 15s to replace the 10s, but but havnt gotten to it yet.

I know you do alot of truck enclosures, but for trunk builds do you recommend firing towards the taillights or into the cabin of the vehicle? I ask because I only have a ski hole,y seats don't fold down and I've been wondering if I'm missing something firing towards the taillights.

Change it around until it sounds the best to you. Many people design their box around having the port fire through the ski hole 💪😎👌

For some of my sedans, rear firing (port and subs) and having the ski hole open worked best.

Hey MB - how much room you need in front of that port? If the cab side wall is too close will it lower the volume of sound or change the sound in any way?

It will lower the tuning slightly. I’ve done it and I just make sure to tune the box higher than I want
