LET'S TALK TECH-DOES DISTRIBUTION MATTER WITH NITROUS?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

WHEN YOU SPRAY NITROUS INTO A COMMON PLENUM ON A SINGLE-PLANE INTAKE, DOES IT MATTER IF IT COMES FROM A SPRAY BAR, PERIMETER PLATE OR OTHER SYSTEM DESIGNED TO PROVIDE EQUAL DISTRIBUTION?

I have spent decades building and racing nitrous engines. Some of these engines were restricted to a single spray bar plate system. I can tell you that distribution is critical when trying to reach maximum power in these classes. It isn't so much the design of the plate or intake manifold as it is the engine design. The real problem was the firing order. I could never get enough fuel into #7 cylinder on a Chevrolet engine because cylinders 5 and 7 fire back to back into the same collector and it caused over scavenging of the #7 cylinder. It actually required that I enlarge one or more of the holes in the fuel spray bar above the #7 runner to add fuel to that cylinder. So while it might not seem like a problem for the "bolt on" guys it is still important to read ALL the plugs when increasing nitrous levels. It could be the difference between a stock cast piston engine holing a piston with a 175 jet when it would have withstood a 300 jet if you had just been able to see the problem before it got bad.

I'm about to start spraying 200 on my 406 with a hitman plate as soon as get traction issues fixed.

I own a built 3.7 cyclone mustang, manley rods pistons, porting ECT.... I originally ran a wet setup, once blew my intake apart once popped a piston ring land. In my setup the fuel with the nitrous oxide would puddle in to the back 2 cylinders. I had to go to a dry only setup and use my fuel injector to add extra fuel. I moved setup to in front of MAF. Seems like the longer the dry nitrous has to run the better mixture, I have had no issues. I'm only using a 75 setup (76rwhp). I miss the days of how easy it was to add a sandwich plate on by sbf.

It does matter and most nitrous setups have very bad distribution, especially for a short moment when activated.

I’ve personally ran the zex perimeter plate and the cross bar plates and I believe the zex is MUCH MUCH BETTER

For the sake of different content you should run a distributor on an LS engine as a test

Has anyone else noticed the very UEVEN nitrous distribution spraying out of that plate in the pic?

Yea. Look at what Freedom Factory. Does spraying straight from bottle from the front of the car while it's on the Dyno. Gained hp. Even distribution I dought it. fun as hell

Just like a shower head. Doesn't matter the design of the plate. If you stand under it your going to get wet. 😆

Why is there a weird background noise? Also can you please either fix your microphone settings or get a better microphone. When connecting to speakers the voice sounds too low pitched, it’s uncomfortable on long rides. Please fix the audio quality.

I love Richard's vids, but this one seems a bit weak, subject matter wise. I would answer with a counter question: Does equal spray of fuel matter? If the answer is yes, then obviously equal distribution of nitrous would also matter (or propane, or hydro, or alc, or nitro, etc). No rocket science there. Doesn't matter what crate or junkyard motor you use. The answer either way is still yes or no. It won't change from one to the other. And most of the Q&A has nothing to do with the vid subject title. C'mon Richard. I know you're trying to make money, but this one is off the rails.

IF I WAS TRYING TO MAKE MONEY-I WOULDN'T BE DOING THIS. AND YOU MISSED THE POINT OF THE POLL. THE QUESTION WASN'T ABOUT DISTRIBUTION (AS A UNOVERSAL POINT), BUT RATHER A QUESTION ABOUT WHETHER EQUAL DISTRIBUTION INTO A SINGLE PLANE 4150 OPENING ACTUALLY IMPROVED EQUAL CYLINDER DISTRIBUTION. SEE...YOU JUST LEARNED SOMETHING
