have been wanting a digital camera for ages! i absolutely adore that quality older ones have because i feel like it captures how the memory looks in your head rather than how it looked when it happened- this is a perfect video to pop into my recommended near christmas time :)

this is exactly how i feel
1. The lower quality gives my reassurance and makes me recall I time when I had no insecurities (bc I was a child) but also because hyper HD cameras weren’t everywhere constantly monitoring us and making us do the 24/7 pampering gig 2. Digicams remind me of when I used to print photos and do photo albums which need to make a comeback
it's beyond romanticizing or nostalgia. it's the ability to create and not care about the quality of 4k but that what matters now is what you shoot. a memory. a piece of you that you'll never get back except on these little fellas. i'd like to think they smile every time we use them. : )
This video is so well thought out and executed. Content creation at its finest.

I dug up my parents old Nikon coolpix camera from the 2000s over the summer and I’ve grown so attached to it, I can’t go anywhere without it. I’m glad digital cameras have sort of made a comeback and I really hope it stays that way
ugh i cannot tell you how much this helped. i absolutely love ur vids!! so glad i came across u from tik tok. love your music as well!! stay safe and healthy

wow this is very helpful for people who dont know abt the old digital cameras, digital cameras are so fun to play with with their low quality it takes nostalgic feelings while using it thats why i like it, i have them like 4 in me rn. btw i am a seller of old digital cameras myself im glad that i turned my hobby became a small bussiness

I still have a collection of those antiques but they were revolutionary back in the day and in early 2000s they cost a fortune. Back then I paid like $1500 for my first one. If you hold onto them long enough they might go up in value.
I grew up on this technology, I love how these cameras are getting loved again (These cameras are being used for horror movies a lot now, even better)
i love your vibe so much! thanks for taking the time to make this vid :D
I appreciate the editing it femme like u took ur time and it was really good and honestly a vibe
Love this!! This was so well done and aesthetic ahh! 🌸✨
Thank you so much Katie! I just ordered a digital cam so this was very helpful!
I love how your channel feels I’m so glad to have come here it’s an art I swear
The introduction made me subscribed! ❤️ Looking forward to watching your vids!!! ❤️
you are amazing for this! going to bali in rainy season def picking up the polaroid
my parents had the DCR - SX33E Handycam, a lot of my childhood videos were shot on that too, loved that thing growing up so I asked for a Handycam of my own when I was 14
I really really love your videos! Just listening to them makes me feel some sort of calmness.
This is a beautiful video essay. Thank you for sharing this. I also love how this beautiful poetry-like style is made pre chat-gpt era, ensuring that it was created by a pure and sincere human mind with a beautiful spirit
I have a similar Sony Handicam, which was also a family cam. Loved finding videos of me in my childhood that had been lost in my memory.
Just got a second hand Sony Handycam DCR-SX63 off market place. You made my camcorder search so easy. Thanks!
omg THANK YOU for including a card reader that works for the memory pro duo,, I've been searching for months!
Another awesome channel featuring a photographer who truly enjoys photography as a real hobby. Big kudos to you!
i found so many of my parent's old cameras and the way it takes photos creates so much nostalgia that doesnt even belong to me. i wish older/retro cameras were more popular!
beautiful beautiful storytelling and such good information, exactly what I was looking for thank you so much :)
When I look on my old camera with my photos with bad grafity I can live back to that memory. It's so satisfying.
I like the style of your video so much, thank you for sharing!
the intro of this video is so beautiful

that intro almost made me cry!!! IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL
I like it! you making a very good point about old cameras ability to capture a dream-like nature of reality
omg, I bought a Polaroid precisely bc of your posts, and bc it’s something I’ve needed desperately. My phone is old, broken, and has absolutely no storage, but I’ve always loved just, capturing the moments around me. I’ll always find myself wishing I had the ability to record the moments I am experiencing at all times: of my friends, the scenery, the noises. I love my family, and I love my people, and I love being able to appreciate the moments where I lived them. But my brain is foggy, my memory unreliable, and my phone a dead brick lol. And even though the quality is inarguably worse on these old cameras than on any modern phone , it actually lines up much more to what I experience real life like in my brain, if that makes sense. Really glad you came across my feed precisely to inspire me with this super cheap and stupidly simple solution.
This is the most thorough explanation and review ive seen and i love it sm . Thank you sm 😭 ive been looking for a camera that can film but with the price that isnt too expensive
Excellent video and great nostalgia throwback on all the great cameras of yesteryear. It was truly a golden era of digital cameras. I've got my own collection of old digital cameras that I wonder what to do with it. I've got old film cameras too that are pretty much museum pieces now. But Sony and Canon made so many consumer cameras back in the day and they were truly great in its time. The photos were pretty good too.
Thanks to this i thonk i found a new hobby that will feed my nostalgia for tech like this, thank you
I love the revival of 2000s digital cameras. After watching this video, I went rummaging around cabinets in my childhood home for any cameras or camcorders that are still there. I found a Sony Mavica (I think this is a video focused camera, it uses tiny CDs for memory) and an HP Photosmart M425 (Point and shoot). I need to keep looking but I know my dad gave me a blue Kodak Easyshare camera when I was younger. Personally, I also own a Polaroid Snap Touch (this is a point and shoot + Zinc printer 2in1) and an Instax Wide 300. I love shooting with them!
My dad had a DSLR from 2008, he passed down to me during grade 14 which kickstarted my photography hobby. The quality was insane but something about these point and shoots seem humbling
got the iso48 because one of your tiktoks and this video really helped me cause I was clueless on how to use it.
I love your videography/video editing style!
I just bought a dcr-sx63! Thank you for giving links for what to buy, otherwise i wouldve been clueless.
Really Great Video and recap of the digicams that you have. Well done!
This video was awesome and refreshingly thoughtful. thank you for sharing.
sony handycam rep! that was my first camera line as well. different model but i was so happy with it for years.
first of all, I love ur cute personality u seem like such a fun person to be around ! :D so I have a professional camera that im selling and getting some 2000s digital cam (still researching which one!). I always thought I needed a super high res pic to capture memories with a lot of detail, but I think I've realized that the almost dream like/not quite reality that some of theses older cameras capture do a better job of capturing memories because of the way or minds kinda distort things and create a nostalgic twist. I have an older phone (the iPhone 8) which I really don't like the pictures of, and honestly the newer phones have a lot of post processing I don't like either, so a compact digital camera I can always have with me is the perfect companion :) I think there's a reason why the lower quality pics always have the most sentimental value!
Really enjoyed this, as a camera enthusiast and a New Yorker.
Such an amazing video u explained everything so well and this really helped
I'm not sure how I ended up here, but that intro was beautifully done. Nostalgia sure is something. Also, I loved the ambience of that obnoxious honking, don't ask why, just all worked so well.
I love this video so much ❤ You have such a great vibe
The big slot on the card reader is for CF (compact flash) memory cards. Nice video 😊.
watching this in school rn lolll, but love this videooo ❤
This is just what I needed
Thank you for this video!❤️
Double A and Triple A batteries are great because you can find them anywhere in a pinch. Definitely rechargeable A's are good. On the waterproof camera, I'd be leary of used ones to submerge... but for rain photography they will be fine. The wide slot in your USB card reader is for Compact Flash that is used on older high end cameras.
I found my Sony Cybershot DSC W5 yesterday now I am rocking it again
you inspire me SO much, it's crazy how beautiful, how much effort is in your videos.

oh nostalgia i like it
The softness of the images taken by these cameras is a very unique experience as compared to the pseudo vivid ones from a typical smartphone. It's basically a picture for social media vs a picture for archiving
This will help me a lot, thank you!
The sony handycam is what we use in my tv production course!
One of my favorite early 2000s digital cameras is the Contax i4R. I have 3 of them, and 2 U4Rs. But I would really love to fire up one of my Rollei 35 film cameras with Tri-X and shoot some scenes!
this video is so well written

I have a Minolta Dimage z1 and it was a pain in the butt to get it working. It doesnt read cards bigger than 2 gigs, it requiers 4 AA batteries, i only have 2. But it was worth it. It takes 3.2 megapixel photos and videos, the problems were only those 2. And it was 9 dollars. Love it.
I was just looking in around in my house for some old stuff and I found 2 cam corners and 1 Olympus camera, 1 of the camcorders was Sony from 2010 and the other was JVC from 2001, and I was really into videography and photography at that time and really wanted a camera and finding these cameras made me really excited, especially because I love the video and photo quality of the old times, I’m trying to find the chargers and batteries for these cam Cordero and hopefully I can start using them ❤
I think you should buy a Canon SD870/IXUS 860. I don't have it, I have a Canon IXUS 220 HS/ELPH 300 HS, but Van Neistat likes the SD870. It shoots 640x480 video (480p) at 30fps, and the audio is amazing, in my opinion. For test footage, watch Van's Baja adventure. The 4:3 (square) videos are from the SD870.
thank you so much :D i made the original comment on your tiktok and your videos have helped me so much :3
This video is awesome
nice. i use a ricoh px, and a ricoh grd3, and a panasonic lumix dmc sz3. love digicams for shooting graffiti and sticker art and shadowplay around bushwick and bed stuy.
i tried to write a text about how much yours videos helped me about something that i used to love when i was a kid and im tryng to have it back, but i'm not really good with words so, i just wanted to say thank you for the help im really happy that i found yours videos (i almost cried) they helped me a lot :D

Really great video, I've just got into 80's polaroid 600 cameras which is going amazingly, but the late 90's/early 2000's is really my era. I'd love to have a camera from around this sort of time, and this certainly helps a lot What was your intro recorded on? It looks so great
