ive been in that very chamber at 4:00 it's pretty coool. if you have tennitus you will hear all those pitches, its deafening.

Haha, I could imagine being in one of these rooms. I went to a college once to go to their chamber, and I loved it. You don't kid! You really can hear your heart beating in your chest, and your voice, at least mine, sounds like I am on the radio, as if there is this massive amount of compression happening. Each sound taking away static that slowly makes its way back after you stop making the sound. If you have not experienced one of these rooms in real life, I recommend it. It's quite fun!

Really cool. I would be interested what a band of instruments would sound like in there compared to what we are used to. Always have had a fascination with sound and how we psychologically comprehend it. I am very happy with the content you create! Thank you. I have been watching your videos for a while and i want to get a record player and start a collection but i am only 15 so money is not very accessible, but you have inspired me to save up and do more chores. Keep our minds racing. -Ben

In the 90s I had to try and repair a mic problem (i was the audio technician) we were having in an isolated recording room for TV reporters. It was small closet the engineers had just treated entirely with similar wedge foam. And I couldn't stand it for more than a few minutes. It was what I think buried alive would sound like. Not a lot of fun! The problem with the audio was that the reporter's voices in their reports was sounding too 'dead' so if I remember right, eventually the engineers took some of the foam off the walls to get back some of the 'echo'.

I've heard of these rooms years ago and I always think the same that I would feel uncomfortable. Not freak out, but a tad odd. Silence can be a gift at times though at such a busy world.

  • @jeremycarter

I think that with my tinnitus, I would go nuts being in that room because it would be more amplified in my head. Whereas now I have other noises around to drown the tinnitus out.

In all of your travels have you ever taken a tone generator and hooked it to a speaker and randomly varied the parameters? Specifically, I am wondering about sine wave vs. square wave and at what frequency they are indistinguishable for you. For me it happens around 6kHz. Just curious, and thanks for all the fish.

Hello, I have a serious problem with my records. I store them vertically, away from direct sunlight and I still see them get warped. I bought one yesterday and it was completely fine just a few minutes ago but I noticed that when it turns on my record player right now, it makes a noise because it touches some of the record player parts by it being warped (it literally didn't do that like an hour ago until now). I dont know what I'm doing wrong and I don't want to keep buying records and have them get warped within a week. Any advice in how to fix this issue would really be appreciated!

I've been working in something like such a chamber (actually a radiation-free chamber, where we test antennas, it is the same thing, just the foam is coated with carbon). It's a bit discomforting at first, as if someone turned your ear off every time you walk into it, but I got used to it rather quickly. If you find one near you, you should ask to try it, it's really interesting. Maybe put a stereo in there and listen to a record without room sound, if you can.

Es war ein Wortspiel, denn "Vakuum" ist ein Teil des Wortes "Staubsauger", ein Apparat der sauber macht und dafür _Unterdruck_ benutzt. Hä?
