    I think elemental damage having effects other than “what deals the most damage right now” would help in discouraging crit-stagnation. Take our railgun boi for example: thunder damage would deal no damage to it, but when he’s charged up you have a chance to ‘overcharge’ it, pumping him so full of lightning he blows a fuse and ends the stage early. It’s not necessary, but it provides an advantage for those who want to spend that extra bit of effort.

    Element needs to be remade from the ground up. It should be the meta for 100% of the monsters, with 100% of the weapon types. Raw should only be the best as a jack of all trades weapon.

    I feel like the rise elemental status effects are a good start, if element weapons could proc those effects but to a lesser degree it would be great

    One of the things I’m personally very excited for is the fact that they seem to really doubling down on turfwars. We’ve seen multiple large monsters against a single large monster and even small monsters fighting a large monster. I’m also curious about just general combat changes. Rise was very different when it comes to that so I really want to see what focus mode has to offer and how the combat feels in general.

    Rise felt different in that department seemingly because the way most quests for the game were designed didn't really accommodate for turf wars and the AI was less consistent on making them happen. There's plenty of turf wars in it but because of the aforementioned factors it's more than possible to go tens of hours or more without ever seeing one a single time

    if they're pushing monster interaction in the ecosystem and unique interactions, I just have one wishlist item for a monster interaction that would just be funny in multiplayer: Have a flying monster that can catch a hunter and carry them away into another nearby general area. Have the hunters decide to either go help out the poor fellow or let him escape on his own XD.

    On the point of handling the potential chaos of herds in single player keep in mind that Sunbreak introduced Ai companion hunts for the first time in the series. I don't see that being something they just drop in the next game.

    I feel like we've probably already seen something along those lines with the npc riding alongside the player character. It obviously looked like a story mission and the npc wasn't fighting, but if they bothered making ai for mounted monster evasion I could more easily imagine that's part of a bigger ai companion system than that they went to the effort for a small number of story quests.

    Guanzorumu would be so interesting to see with the pack mechanics, the wingdrakes could actually participate in the fight with some cool combo attacks and you could potentially even separate them to make the fight easier. Guanzorumu would also look absolutely stunning with these graphics.

    Something I always fought would work for healing while moving is, the faster the move the longer it take to drink or the potions is slashing around and so you lose some potential healing, like go try to drink a big jar of water while sprinting or on a Palamute sprinting, that can t be easy, same for sharpening the more stable you are the less time you pass sharpening Also happy they chose to not show much, with Rise they showed toooooo much, well close to everything and better not showing enough and everything

    One thing not mentioned, but understandably so given it's only mentioned in the state of play blog so far and not explicitly explained in a trailer, is "dynamic battles". It's explained as a mechanic where doing specific things against specific monster actions causes unique things to occur. That's why the cutscene where the hunter blocks with the greatsword and gets into a struggle with the doshaguma seemingly happens. He blocked that attack which triggered the unique interaction. White sparks appear when this occurs. Notably, these white sparks pop up earlier when the hunter does that uppercut with the greatsword against that doshaguma's attack. This could mean that greatsword attack wasn't a parry, but rather, a parry window is baked into that monster's attack as long as the conditions are met.

    I would find it neat if a few monsters that aren't related hunt together. Cause in real life we have examples of animals that are different species workout together to benefit one another. Also I think choosing on whether to separate a leader from a pack or just hunting them all will largely depend on how strong the other pack members are. Cause if it's like the raptors from other games, then I can see people just ignoring the pack. But if it's they are each big monsters that are slightly weaker than the leader, then I think planning a way to separate them can be interesting.

    I hope we get more Kirin x Rajang monster relationships. I hope they don't too much from some of the sillier/cartooney monsters I love the new alien monster designs, but I hope we still see a good amount of tried and true returning champs and can't wait to see who's gonna return from the previous games Also, can't wait to see hammer gameplay 😭

    I feel like the combat in wilds between the hunter and the monster is more or so like, two fighters dueling it out on somewhat even ground, where in a split second either one can get the upper hand against the other one. Like in rise the combat was more or so towards the hunters favour but in world it was more or so towards the monsters favour. But in wilds you'll both be somewhat equally matched and thus will give you a sense of "this is an actual animal and I'm an actual hunter" if that makes any sense.

    That's what I'm hoping for but it's tricky to make that sort of thing actually work things would escalate extremely for either the hunters side or the monsters side take for example rises wirebugs or worlds clutch claw and primordial Malzeno and alatreon how that mechanic blew up on capcoms face for better or for worse.

    In rise people barely struggled with monsters but in base world people were struggling against anjanath early on and in end game they were dying to lunastra, behemoth, leshen, and the arch tempered elder dragons very frequently compared to base rise.

    I really can't settle in my head whether or not I think we will see a lot of returning monsters. On one hand for a long time i believed we would be seeing a ton return as we already have newer models and animations and a lot of work done on everything from world/borne and rise/break. On the other hand everythingggg in this new game looks so specialized to its environment that I'm not entirely sure what all would fit into this world they are building.

    New subspecies idea: lightning rod horn Monoblos. Also would be sick that the sand dunes area of Windswept Plains be swarming with Balahara and using any explosive immediately summons multiple packs to the vicinity.

    Wilds has a longer news cycle than previous games and they may want to go the less is more rout. They did get flack for showing too much for World and Rise, practically only hiding the final story bosses. I think a lot of us, whether you are going media blackout or watching every trailer, many want surprises in game. i love the Jurassic Park comparison lmao. Doshaguma is looking like early game so maybe later monsters will have it so the group aggression is higher. I've been asking for the pack AI to be more unique between monsters for year and Wilds may deliver on that, spectacularly. swarm of zamites or giggies attacking a gammoth please! just hanging and flopping by their mouths all over her. It has to happen. Also worth asking, are teammates going to hate you for using the focus mode attack and eliminating the weak spots with the "wrong weapon"? Yes, you can have any 2 but will people wine and kick you if at least one of your weapons isn't a particular one like an hbg for mounted combat? YES!!! i never want them to force us to do some sort of meta set again. Think the part break damage stacking with the gold pinata, think alatreon's "we know we fucked up with elemental so we tried and kind of failed again in Iceborne but we want you to use it anyway... also sorry, not sorry, ig mains you lose cause the only good element hit zone is glued to the ground." None of that! A flock of flying wyverns needs to happen, either a new monster or like the flock of seregios from MH4U but in game. Also Rise/Sunbreak version of bleed, please.

    I think the reason the seikret looks kinda op is that MAYBE some of the monsters are gonna have a phase where they run around everywhere, trying to surround you while attacking, and in that phase you get on the seikret and either maneuver around while chasing them down, or have a pseudo-dogfight if you have a ranged weapon. What I want in Wilds is for Capcom to PLEASE BRING TONFAS INTO MAINLINE PLEASE.

    About the mount catching you, if you pay attention, it takes between 4 to 5 seconds from the whistle to the mount grabbing you. So it's way more balanced than wirefall imo

If we get underwater combat, Lagi is 100% in the game and it would be soooo cool if they made it to where you need special items/equipment to dive suuuper deep and then you find an underwater cave that just goes deeper and deeper and then you find Abyssal Lagiacrus 🤯🤯🤯🤯

    My copium is to see Gammoth make a glorius return. In my opinion one of the best designs, armors, weapons and overall vibe! But I agree they would need to tweak the fight a bit to make it more challenging and next-gen. Maybe a sand version that has like a salt and or sand armor?

    I would like it if the parry we saw was limited to parts that're wounded so that you couldn't just parry everything the monster can throw at you. I'm personally not fond of parries and counters, but if they're balanced and not too crazy, then I don't mind them so much. I just won't use them all too much compared to ither parts of a weapon's kit.

    I'm really curious to see what focus mode attacks they will come up with for the lighter weapons. I also personally hope that focus mode for dual blades will be some sort of super demon mode that may be drains your health and stamina or just strangers stamina faster but gives you truly ridiculous damage output.

    I think one way to balance herd fights (or herds intruding) is to make just the alpha strong enough to be a menace. Of course there would be the risk of being mobbed and getting stun locked, but making the rest of the herd deal less damage, get stunned/toppled easier etc would be the way to go I guess

    If there isn't underwater combat, then AbyLagi can't work. AbyLagi's whole gimmick is that he's a Lagiacrus straight up too enormous to walk on land efficiently

    I want the monsters to literally Hunt you down as if you are prey! I want to see monsters stalking you, and instead of always roaring at the beginning of battle, they immediately pounce and attack the player or they are curious and just follow you around until they get bored and they wonder off, I want to see more turf war variations and animations, based on the monster's condition/rage state etc. I hope monster and creature animations aren't too telegraphed and scripted i want everything to be more organic/realistic/ and lifelike, I love that the monsters will have way more dynamic behaviors and environmental interactions! Imagine going on an expedition and a rathalos is flying above you thinking you're prey and he swoops down and grabs the hunter! I hope we see a underground hollow earth type map with large mushroom forest! And they dynamic weather would be spore clouds!

    I wish the weapons have access to their full moveset at all times, switch skills are a neat idea but as a CB main i feel like CES and CSS being seperate is kinda slapped on, in world you just had access to everything at all times but would only use SAED or Savage Axe because of armor skill restrictions and monster match up, I would prefer if instead of seperating weapon mechanics, switch skills alter the weapon moveset itself, so that I'm not spamming the same two hit combo over and over again, like EDII into upswing into EDII in world or EDII into guard into EDII in rise

    8:01 the game will be like "Have you played a pre World Monster Hunter game before? if you have then deal with it, if not... well, good luck" (though the 1rst trailer showed us we can separate packs via natural traps) talking about skills, I was thinking about blending skills for Swordman and shooting like speed sharpening/reload, artillery boosting all ammo but depending on the level (1 for normal, 2 for spread, etc) About monsters, I have a feeling Diablos won't come back since there's no cactus pods (I believe) and Monoblos replaces him (I just want him in). A new small sudo-wyvern would be really interesting: something with the desing of a leopard/cougar (we already have the sabertooth, tiger, jaguar and lion with ludroth). A small brother to Tigrex, around 11-12m, going solo in the open fields and specialising in ambushes from above and taking off with his prey. Oh and viper Tobi too (we don't need the original) The village leaves me with two big questions: will there be multiple small villages (like one per locale for a seamless gameplay and the sandship as a hub) and will monster raids on the village happen. So much questions, so much hype building up and always good content poping up

    @@cr-volcanic I really like the direction they took with the great swords focus attack it's still kind of a counter instead of blocking first you have to use a well timed attack. It seems like a more reliable version of what people are already doing with greatsword. I also like that drag across attack I wonder if it deals more damage than true charge slash.

    I'm insanely keen for this game, Monster Hunter is by far my favourite game series. I do a lot of solo play, but I have gotten so many friends and my girlfriend into the series, so I'm very interested in seeing its balance between solo and multiplayer hunts. Very keen to see how Hammer, Charge Blade and SnS play haha

    My biggest hope is that we at least keep some of the better movement from Rise, while I know a lot of people have issues with a lot of things in Rise (personally I prefer it to world but that's just me), The movement made me feel like I could actually take on a lot of the stronger monsters, whereas in World I was starting to dread the endgame fights because it ends up being a lot of dodging with very little window to actually attack, I don't even want it to be too much of a change, just a better feeling evade than world had. It is also possible that I'm just not great at World Also I hope the effects lean a bit closer to Rise because IMO a lot of World's elemental effects look really watery or blurry and don't look great, while Rise has amazing looking Fire effects

    I want hunts to be immersive and difficult. I always wanted a real hutning sim monster hunter with yhe good combat, i understand I may not be the majority, but if you have to plan and track and seperate them from their packs? Im so super about it.

    One thing I will say about the crit/damage meta that most MH endgames fall into is that I think MH could benefit from removing flat damage increasing skills like attack up or criteye and instead focusing on conditional damage increasing skills like challenger/peak performance/condition overload while relying more on the weapons base stats, so players can either take a risk to increase their damage or use a more diverse build while relying on their weapons raw stats.

    I doubt they’re gonna drop the character creator. I’m betting they either have a default voice for each gender or each gender has a collection of VAs that all recorded the lines

    @cr-volcanic yeah, I wouldn't be opposed to a story character tho, I think it would def be better than the silent character we've gotten, so now that wilds looks like is gonna be more story heavy I hope the character creator has voice lines, something like cyberpunk were even tho it's a create your own character, the character gets alot of dialogue

    I highly doubt base game Wilds will be particularly difficult compared to the rest of the series. Almost everything that the devs have been doing for the past decade have demonstrated that they want to lower the starting difficulty to ease newer players into the games.

    I wouldn’t be opposed to them removing all damage skills and leaving only utility and exploration skills. I think that would not only make builds more interesting and diverse, but also make how much damage you deal depend strictly on how good of a hunter you are.

    No man rise was super easy compared to world low rank. Compared to the old games it's ridiculous how easy it was. I understand why they did it. They are trying to get normies into it and make missions shorter for the switch but it makes the whole first half of the game mind numbing run and gun till it finally catches up. Freedom unite was my first when I was 11 and the difficulty gave me incredible sense of accomplishment just getting thru high rank.

    my one hope is that monsters fighting each other goes past novelty now. 2 monsters fighting should be a unique gameplay situation not a rage moment where i spitefully pull out a dung pod.

    I really enjoy the 1v1 experience in mh, and it feels like all the recent games have tried to introduce things to interrupt the flow of the 1v1. Like rise had the wyvern ride, but that was pretty fast to get it over with, worldbourne had clutch claw and turf wars where it just feels like "ok, a second monster has entered the arena, I guess I'll sit around and wait for them to get the turf war out of their system", and this game having so much emphasis on turf wars isn't inspiring to me, visually its gorgeous but that mechanic has always felt super gimmicky to me. On that note, I really hope the herd stuff isn't as prevalent in the actual game as it is in the trailers. Like I assume its a lower tier monster gimmick and the higher tier monsters wont be in packs, but even then a pack of whatever can come interrupt a hunt, like you said, cool at first, lame after a while. Also the designs so far feel pretty lacking in personality outside of chatacabra and maybe the thor magala we seen 2 seconds of. Overall, less sold on this game than before the trailers, but its still early so am hoping for some actual gameplay at the next event

    The two things I hope for this game is that one it comes to the Nintendo switch or it's successor console and two that it doesn't take too long to get to the actual combat I hope separating the monster from the herds doesn't take too long and I hope it doesn't take too long to reach the monster in the first place.

    One thing that worries me is the amount of detail they put into everything, that is a TON of work! Will the other locales be as Big, detailed, with as many small monsters as this one? I LOVE how natural it all looks, I want to bé able to walk around like i'm on a Safari but like on every map not only on this one 🫣

    They should allow you to sharpen, heal or shoot with a gunner weapon. The downside would be,while your in combat on the Mount, you have to do a qte to sharp or heal at 100% the normal rate. But if you miss the qte you don't sharpen/ heal. can be like if you miss 2-3 qte while sharpening, you get the bleed status effect because you cut yourself on the weapon (it be really funny if that happens when you sharpen a hammer or hunting horn). For healing you just spill the potion till you run out or if you miss the qte so bad you just drop the potion and it shattered on the ground. For the bowgun I make it have higher recoil or just shot from the hip, but when you reload you have a qte. They can do so much like if you fuck up you can jamm your gun, or make the ammo explode in your hand knocking you off the mount. This was the few things I could think of on the top of my head, to balance the mounted combat

    It's perfect, there's nothing to complain about. If you people had your way, the series would have died off. Ok, I'm glad you got positive by the end. My point is, easier star of the game to a harder end is fine. If the beginning is too hard, people will drop off like flies. But with a later difficulty change, by then you're invested and more willing to put up with the struggle.

    Why do people just assume that a bigger focus on ecology, monster herds, chases and pre-hunt field prep-work is going to make things tedious? As if having to repeat the same hunt over and over to get good RNG is a design prerogative the series CAN'T in any way veer away from?

    I feel a solution to getting burnt out of the cinematic battles is to do what Rise did, were you get a lot of materials to build at least a weapon and two armor pieces, were running the same hunt rewards you with full set and the best weapon choice, something that is rewarding to hunt instead of not getting enough materials like in the old games.

    @@overlordchemm3705 I've seen more than a couple reactions where people immediately jump to Gore Magala and Shagaru Magala when they see it for some reason. I *guess* it could be because of the pose it assumes with its forearms and head down while its wing membranes stick upward, and the fact that it seems to have gold scales (though that's really hard to tell because of how the scene is lit), but that's really it. Honestly it reminds me more of Seregios and that one piece of Zinogre concept art than anything else.
