This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don't think so: I put up with spice to get the kind of romance stories I want to read. I'd be perfectly happy with fade to black, or no spice at all if it fits the plot. I hate it when the plot is lost in smut.

I love grumpy/sunshine so much! And well done for sticking it out. I've lost track of how many times I have wanted to quit, but at the heart of it is always the truth that I've forgotten to let myself have fun and got stuck on what I *should* be doing, which is never as enjoyable as following my heart. I'm glad you followed yours.

No one talks about how hard puppies are. I got my first dog of my own at 27yo and I had so many mental breakdowns. They are SOOO annoying, as much as we love them. I remember feeling like I’d never get to hang out with my friends ever again. It’s worth it in the end but man does social media especially NOT prepare yoy

I literally felt TRAPPED to my house. She would nonstop screech if I tried to leave her in her kennel, i couldn’t even go get groceries. It was ROUGH, and it even made me feel worse, like “I’m not even bonding with my dog.” Social media does notttttt prepare you for the hardships of puppy hood, LOL but we got through it!!

@@AuthorSarahSuttonYUP. It’s a weird post partum depression-like feeling (even tho it’s not the same). But it is SUCH a big change to your life and you are now responsible for keeping this little creature alive and you’re also their whole world. She’s your bestie now though!

I'm with you on admitting the struggle with a dog. I rehomed a french bulldog from breeders who were going to destroy her because she had a prolapse. I was completely and utterly unprepared for what I needed to do. In theory, I knew I could handle it. In reality, it was draining and exhausting. I cried so much because I thought I'd made the wrong decision which would've been completely unfair to her. But I persevered, and now I wouldn't see myself without her. Part of the fam ❤

Dear Sarah, I'm so happy for you that in the end you listened to yourself and what you wanted to write and that way found back to your passion!

I totally feel you on the struggles (especially when it comes to writing the book that's calling out to you to be written vs what you "should" be writing/what fans want). As for tropes, I'm a huge sucker for forbidden romance.

It’s soooo hard to find that balance-but when it starts becoming detrimental to actually writing, I know it’s time to take a step back. Glad to have figured it out now!!🫶🏼

Thank you for talking about this! It's so hard when your entire identity is being a writer and you burnout from it. I felt the same way after failing in the query trenches. ❤

Thank you for sharing this, Sarah! I’ve been in the same boat-some stories just don’t work out on paper, and it’s a terrible feeling, but we need to spend time on books we love instead! I’m so excited for Margot’s book! 💕

No spice is a must. I hate having to skip spicy scenes. And even if there is spicy scenes, there are usually a lot of innuendoes and a build up to the spice that just puts me off the book. I love arranged marriages. It’s so fun. One of my favorite tropes of all times.

Thank you for sharing all your struggles Sarah. I know how hard it is to be able to write sometimes. I've been watching your channel for about a year now and getting to see you find your joy again after such a hard time in your life makes my heart happy. I just want you to know that I'm so proud of you for making it through everything and following where your heart led you. I already pre-ordered your special edition of Love and Other Champaign Problems and am so excited to read it! I love the grumpy sunshine trope! And am excited to hear what you will be working on next! ❤❤❤

You should be happy because you did it! You made another book! You worked so hard on it. I've been stuck in writing for 9 freaking years and it frustrates me. I don't know how you do it. Any tips please?

It's so refreshing to break the surface after burnout or a hard mental health time-glad to see the spark is back! I noticed on the pre-order page you have a publisher listed, do you have any videos about the business side of self-publishing? Not sure if the LLC is yours or if you work with someone, but that insight would be so interesting to see. Congrats on the new book! :)
