My 4 year absolutely loves you and wanted to do your grow along, but we are in the midsts of a move and I told him it would be tricky since we will be establishing all new garden beds in the spring. Just know , you have a tiny kid who has asked to watch ‘the flower lady’ for well over a year now.💜

I just received my order from Redemption Seeds and I must say this was one of the most lovely shipment opening experiences I've ever had! Their packaging and attention to details, down to the handwritten thank you note, was truly amazing. In a day were what seems "minimal will do", they didn't just send seeds - they delivered an experience! I hope I don't spoil it for others - but I really LOVED this and had to share how cool it was to receive. :)

I thought your "Grow Along" idea was great...unfortunately (fortunately) you have too many fans and followers. I like that you did add the FB page so as Flower Hill Farm fans we can talk to each other, share our gardens, discuss our successes/failures and comment on what is happening on your farm. I stopped using Facebook a few years ago because of the nastiness and constant politics injected into everything. The adds were also terrible. I am now considering getting back on Facebook because of all my gardening sights that I miss and new ones I would like to join. Maybe this spring or late winter I will jump back in.

You're amazing handling so much of your business yourself. If I may, I'd like to suggest the intern idea. As a retired one-person florist with a non-affiliated website (no 1-800...) I got orders from all over the world, to deliver flowers in my city or nearby cities. I was lucky enough to hire an intern from the local high school, and a nearby college, whom earn credits for working in a "farm" related field (FFA). I grew a few of my own flowers, so it worked out. The interns' work for free, and in return, they gain skills. Just a thought :) On a side-note, I'm starting a cut flower garden on my property and wish that I could join the "grow with me" group, however, I'm not sure about the expense of growing from seeds with grow lights. Love your videos!

Glad you are well. I've been in tears trying to "be" for everyone else the past two months, so feel your pain. It is hard to be a business woman and mom at the same time while holding down another job. Be gentle with yourself. Get yourself well because if you aren't well you can't be there for us other nutty flower farmers out there or your family.

Pellet stove! Best investment ever. We heat our house for under $800 for the whole winter at 70 degrees.

I'm glad you're taking steps to keep it more "intimate" I think that's the reason a lot of people joined it- to be able to converse with you, share how their garden is doing, etc. I started my 1st CSA this year! No one has joined yet, 🤞 they do!

We have also dropped the thermostat. No one is really complaining yet. I figure January/February will be the hardest for everyone. I got all the women folk fleece lined leggings that I use for long johns. Amazon has them 6 pairs for like $30. They are great. My husband just has his regular thermals. Also got a new blanket for the couch and a few new throws. Everyone should be nice and toasty.

Mine arrived today, too, and it was perfectly timed. My heart is so full. Also, Nicole - we’re freezing here too after our energy company sent out an email with a heads up that costs are going to be 😱😱😱 this winter.

I can so relate to your situation. I'm a literacy specialist and have a private practice, own and operate a farm, grow flowers and make handmade soap. Oh and I'm a mom too. I feel so pulled in many directions and time is most precious. Take care of yourself, rest and unplug if needed! I am looking forward to doing the grow along. Glad you made changes that will make life during the growing season better. If I lived near you, I’d be signing up for your CSA. In fact, I’m going to look for one close by. And psst…the best way I found to stay warm is wearing fleece tops and bottoms. I know you’re in the hinterlands up there and know how to dress, but I found keeping my core body warm helped me keep my extremities warm.

Have you thought of offering a small discount on additional bouquets purchased by csa members? This would mean that if they sent in request ahead of time they would be able to order a second bouquet of any type to be picked up with their csa for like a 5% off the cost of the additional one.

LOL yup, 40 is warm for us in December. Jealous! I haven't seen a sunflower since September.

Did you hook up the Cafe/etc with flowers from your farm in exchange for having them as a CSA pickup location? I'm all about keeping the public off my property. It may come across as rude (which isn't intended) but people really have zero regard for private spaces or boundaries. It is time boundaries are re-learned. It happens with my horses A LOT. People feel it is their right just to come onto the property and feed or pet them. Hard stop on that. Same goes for flowers for me. Hard stop. Good for you for keeping your home as private as you can. Sidenote, im still snowless here in NH. Strange, but I'm also enjoying my flip-flops. It was just shy of 60 degrees here today. I suspect it is short lived. It is odd to have soft dirt this time of year. Best of luck with the Grow Along. I had a feeling it would be hugely popular. You are super relatable, and people enjoy that about your channel. Can't wait to hear how it all goes.

My calendar arrived this week. Tk u! I think I signed up for the grow-along but I’ve been known to fall asleep with the phone in my hand before completing a transaction. 😆 My MIL just moved in with us and I was hoping it’d be an added bonus for us in the Spring, so hopefully I didn’t fall asleep too soon. She may end up getting my calendar to use in her new room...we’ll see. She’s gonna have to be pretty nice this month though. 😂

I love our old brick home, but it is cold in the winter here in Indiana. Candles are my favorite (i work from home so i can have one in the main rooms), as well as hot teas & warm fuzzy socks

Please don’t feel bad about needing to reduce what you do, re delivery etc, because YOUR TIME is valuable and this is a business. I hope no one gets put off about not being able to pick up their bouquets at your home or anything….the flowers don’t grow themselves and if you can’t do that then there is no point.

I wasn't clear if FB was an extra thing or replacing the Zoom meeting because it didn't sound like you wanted to host a Zoom meeting with a large group in this video.

I received my calendar last week and the pictures are STUNNING!! I don’t want to be a negative Nelly here, but do you ever have concerns about crop failure and not being able to fulfill your CSA bouquets? During the summer we inevitably get one or more hail storms that can wipe everything out within minutes. Or I would worry about a bug infestation or disease. Thanks for sharing all this good information; I’ve learned so much from watching you this past year. 💐

I always have a back up plan and will source from fellow flower farms locally or from the wholesale supplier! I’ve purchased from fellow farms but I’ve never had to buy from the wholesale place yet.

We're normally about 62 but I think we bumped it up to 65. I'm in the spare bedroom though recording this video and it's in the 50s in there because we keep the door closed!

@@FlowerHillFarm yes us too! The original house was built in the 50’s and the thermostat, while updated, is in the old house. Additions are open but have baseboard heating which we do not turn on.

If you were to divide the grow along members into 12 groups and each group gets just ONE zoom, could you manage doing 2 zoom meetings per month over 6 months, would that cover all the participants?

I’m wondering how you do your website or how it’s hosted (whatever it’s called ha) like through go daddy for example..? Thanks!! Lauren

I'm surprised you don't have one of those outdoor wood burning stoves. When I eventually move to the country (goals!) that's the first thing I'm buying.

Is the ymca charging you to have them as your pick up place? Trying to figure out how to approach people. I have a traveling flower trailer and would love to know how to professionally ask them if I could park at their place of business or have them as my pick up spot for CSA

I announced in a video last month I did acquire a commercial fridge! I’m excited Jack!

I can't take place at any of those but it is ok. We have today the coldest that we hope and it is -17 degrees not celcius in celcius -28 wow u warm. I can't buy anything.
