The best way to play all three of the games is by modding the PC versions to add back all of the quality of life stuff and combine all of the best features of the PS2 and Xbox version. The PS2 versions are the ones with arguably the most intact feature set, but graphics and performance wise they're by far the worst. The Xbox versions are reasonable enough as they come and they have some exclusive graphical features the other versions don't (more detailed rims and character models especially for all major characters) but Xbox emulation isn't quite there. Modding the PC version to have the best of all the other versions + whatever other features you might want or need (true free look, ultrawide, controller support, even readding the 2P content from the console versions for SA) isn't too hard.

I feel the exact same way the trilogy DE isn't the best version of the games to play but I'm not "techy" and can't emulate the originals nor do I have a PC but I do enjoy the quality of life features added in the DE so I am able to overlook the bugs and glitches in order to enjoy these stories.

i reacently played through both the gta SA original and definitive edition dont be fool by the graphics. the combat is a down grade the camera act awkward when in a plane or helicopter they remove a shit ton of music and cj can levitate over water and walk through the fucking ground some times. it all make for an downgrade

the original actually felt like the 90s the graphics might of been worse but the animation was more realistic and fluid in the definitive edition character models move in more unnatural ways

For me Vice City has the best MC and best story. SA added just more detail, body shape, activities like dancing, pool working out (which i love). Just VC is untouchable it's my childhood.

Lets not. I played SA when I was 11 years old and I have played it as recently as 5 years ago. I will not be playing it again. It is just vastly inferior to 4 and 5. The story doesnt hold up like Vice City's and the gameplay and missions, outside of the first Los Santos bit, are not good.
