Let's Polish a Big Boulder Opal!
We have cut and polished a large Queensland boulder opal. We are happy with the outcome. It is a step by step guide for people who do not have much experience with boulder opal. Hope you enjoy the video!
This video is for people who have a Dremel, Faro, Fordom, Marathon, Kavo, Ryobi, Ray-Foster, and other rotary tools.

Thanks for watching.
I’ve got a fist-size piece of iron rock with opal veins & a smooth feeling swirl pattern that covers a large area on most sides. I have no idea what to do with it or if I could try to polish a small section to satisfy curiosity. If I decide to polish a small section, it’ll be after a lot of “watch & learn” videos like yours, then practice runs. It seems different to gemstone polishing. Honesty in today’s society has become a rare quality so trust follows if you don’t know the right person for the job.

Boulder opal can be tricky, even when you have experience on your side as no two pieces are the same. Some times its a case of taking it easy and going gently and other times the quick tap of a hammer does not go astray. This could be a serious learning curve for you. I am sure it will have a positive outcome either way.
So pretty
Great to watch ,,really struggling polishing boulder as It's a newer material for me but ya ,I have fallen in love with boulder opal it's much more of a dynamic type of opal and when it's done right it's the best ,cheers for the post.
