Death's reaction to the battling minigame was priceless XD In regard to the game crash, this game is known for having sporadic issues when run on anything other than a PS1. I think I remember someone being able to get around some of them by changing the disk speed, so that might help. Also related below: (minor spolier warning) There's an infamous boss in disk 2 that has an about 30% chance of doing an attack that freezes the game. It was probably never caught in testing because on the original PS1 it doesn't happen, while it does on every other system and emulators. Recently some people released a fan-made patch one can apply to the game rom to stop this from happening. Since for this LP we have original hardware it might be an issue. Thankfully there's a save point right before it and the intro cutscene to the boss is quite short. In the worse case scenario, there is a way to get around that on original hardware that the speedrun uses to get thorugh that boss. For those who know what the boss is, the way to avoid the crash is to bring Fei, Citan, and Emeralda. Citan places elemental shields on him and Emeralda and she uses ether moves to kill both her and Citan. Once that is done, the boss can't freeze the game anymore because the issue is caused by the camera panning over to the two side characters (Citan and Emeralda).

After the fact but i heard about Xenogears from the Parasite Eve/Xenogears Demo disc that came with the Playstation Magazine the year they came out. I bought it immediately upon release due to demo being awesome. Love this game and love that youre finally playing through it

The first time I saw anything of Xenogears was from ripped graphics people used on RPG Maker games back in the 2000s, that's how I learned about many games tbh. Then years later I played it for the first time when I was sort of competing with a friend, we were gonna start the game and see who beat it first in the summer break lol. And idk, it's the best game ever. As another friend once said, this is like what someone with RPG Maker wished to make, it's a game with all of the ideas in it as you said. It's a game that would only come out in the nineties. Or so I thought, now FF7Rebirth exists.

I think they were trying to convey that Fei was injured during the baptism so was actually weaker than usual and, now that he is back to normal, he is more or less equal to Rico. Unfortunately, it was lost in translation somewhat.

Side story, with the sewer thing...? I mean... RIGHT NOW, yes, but much later we get this show-don't-tell thingy that it is in some degree connected to the main plot.

I dont exactly like the start of the prison section, but the battling and uh this next section are very memorable for me. And yeah it's definitely a cool off for the crazy battle before it, and an important part of Fei's development as a character, I think Fei is a great character and these things are important.

I can guarantee you that ps2's can cause very strange things to happen like seen in the video on Xenogears. For example my ps2 plays the game just fine, but there are very random audio quirks with some of the music. There are softlocks that can occur if your on ps2 later on in the game, that cannot occur on a original ps1 due to the game loading faster.

If you're referring to the infamous boss in Disk 2 that can softlock the game, there's a workaround to avoid it almost all the time. I hope death doesn't have to resort to that.

Now you can't even buy a complete game but back then you bought 3 games in one lol
