Everyone's talking about the pop-up delights - and rightfully so, they're delightful - but the real genius of Shivers are the dice. Compressing everything to Works/Kinda Works/Doesn't work simplifies everything so neatly without sacrificing RPG depth. Genuinely considering importing it to something more robust, like DnD. After all: pass/fail/pass but in a funny way is all that really matters.

Including other conditions besides just pass/fail is a good idea for a role playing system. They made it nice and simple to implement here. The Star Wars RPG does that but you have to roll then add and subtract up a bunch of dice to determine if you succeed at an action and separately if something additional happens.

I absolutely adore Tom as a DM/GM/Keeper/Narrator. Tom's ability to set the atmosphere is absolutely fantastic!

I only got into the board game hobby about a year ago. I started with Star Wars Age of Rebellion and didn't really know where to go from there. But then I saw Adam's Board Game Masterpiece on Nemesis. The passion that was displayed in that video was enough to get me to not only buy Nemesis, but to watch the Board Game Club videos and purchase more games off the ones I really liked. I was able to get a small group of three of us to start gathering each week to play games using two foldable picnic tables pushed together with a customized felt top wrapped around a plastique sheet so the top was even. This group has now grown to 12 people with an average of 4-6 showing up for the weekly game nights I have. I have never experienced such joy in getting people together. Phones away, genuine human interaction, and hours of laughter and enjoyment. I truly wouldn't change it for the world. I have now finally ordered a legit board game table. The point is, you really have shown me "just how fun, board gaming can be."

Adam figuring out what would happen with the chess piece just before Laurie used it, gave some real vibes of Adam figuring out who the demon was during the last vote on BotC but being just a moment too late to make a difference. Also, those dice rolls were really something else :p

I love the idea that someone asking for space is their "favourite saying" like, "Gee, I sure do enjoy telling people they're crowding me!" lol

You know, for being a grown woman, Holly’s pretty good at playing a nerdy teen boy. I kinda really want a second play through with another group, but keep dad joke Adam and emo Laurie in their roles with Tom as DM. Imagine Sullivan and Dom playing this together with Adam and Laurie, pure comedy gold. Rosie is made for a game like this. Please do it again, this was so good.

Not gonna lie, I was fully expecting “a smaller, better Blair” at 22:11 😂

Blair's commitment to the role of Shep is a thing of downright beauty.

This game is beyong charming with its style and presentation, and an excellent way to introduce people (presumably primarily families and/or younger players) into a new genre. And by playing as a precreated character, it's easier for them to "put on" the character and roleplay than if they were tossed into the (relatively) deep end and creating one from scratch.

Thank god I just started my homework…now I have a reason to procrastinate!!!

Man, this game was absolutely gorgeous and I was dying the whole way through. I needed this, thank you so much for the cheering up. This was such a fun episode.

I think this is my fav NRB video period. So fucking wholesome and cute and well I just plain love it.

I'm only 10 minutes in, and I'm already laughing my ass off. The cast of characters in this game is a *perfect* comedic recipe with the cast of characters on this channel 😂 I thought I was bad with women, so it's nice of Brighton/Holly to prove that there's always someone worse. I have yet to cause a woman a PTSD flashback while simultaneously nearly setting her aflame 😂 Adam, I'm ashamed of you! No dad joke for shrunken Autumn? "Oh, Autumn, it seems you've run into a... small problem." It was right there! 😁 Blair playing a dog transformed into a human was a thing I didn't know I needed, but I truly did need it.

Father and son - The Shivers - are basically combined the Inspector Gadget of spooky investigations. Thank goodness they also had a Penny and Brain to help them out!

Shep the action dog, I wouldn't mess with you, felt the pain when you returned to your normal body. I do find tabletop games daunting and have never played one, but that looks like a fun introduction game.

My first thought was Tom has to be the DM after they did him dirty on Terrorscape or next Blood on the Clocktower could get ugly lmao

I saw this game on Kickstarter and constipated backing it but in the end decided it wasn't for me. I still feel that was the right decision but wow you folks are entertaining. I think it takes a special group of people to make role playing work and the combination of this game and it's actors truly made this the best NRB video to date. Thank you, this was amazing

im really loving these RPG vids

So, I am really fascinated by the chess riddle not having a correct solution at all, despite the game kinda making it out to have one. And there is no other board in the house that would suggest a black knight as being the correct thing to grab. So what would have been the intended way to go about things if the players figured out "something is fishy, we shouldn't pick any of those pieces"?

Yeah, other play with the characters that weren't used this time, I guess there's a Mother Shiver since the dad is pretty light skinned and the son more dark skinned, the cat they talked about, and obviously the little sister he wants to protect, that leaves one character more, maybe Autumn's parent or something
