▬▬▬▬ GAME INFO ▬▬▬▬
This is a let's play of The Magic Circle on the PC in 1080p 60fps.
► The Magic Circle Story Synopsis:
You are the protagonist of an unfinished 1st person fantasy game, trapped in development hell. The designers (played by James Urbaniak, Ashly Burch, and Karen Dyer) are god-like, but so indecisive that they've given you no powers whatsoever. With the help of a mysterious disembodied voice (Stephen Russell) you must seize the tools of game development from these unworthy 'gods', uncovering more of the darkly comic story as you go. Rather than traditional puzzles with a single solution, the incomplete state of each environment is a question that you answer in your own way. Trap the designers' creations, steal their behaviors, and re-mix them to explore and master this world-in-progress. Can you out-think the game gods? Can you ship The Magic Circle from inside it?
Warning: Some strong language and references to adult subject matter.

The Magic Circle is on sale just for today (May 23) for $4.50 at Chrono GG - if you make a purchase at chrono.gg/welonz, you can get the game for cheap and also support me and the channel at the same time! This is not a sponsored video, although some of you may know from Twitter that I'm now in partnership with ChronoGG. I think ChronoGG's concept of selling 1 indie game a day is a pretty good fit with what I want to do, because I can pick out specific titles that I personally like and want to see do well. I've finished The Magic Circle already and it's really quite unique - definitely something I'd recommend playing it yourself first if you have any inkling of interest in that, but otherwise, I will be continuing this playthrough likely sometime next week after I finish up some other series.

In real life, people don't look up either, unless they've been trained to. I used to be in SES cadets as a kid and they once did a mock search for a "missing person" through the bush. The dude playing the missing person (who was a bit of a troll nad had no intention of making the search easy) just climbed a tree and sat there, making no attempt to conceal himself in any way; the searchers passed under him several times but never found him.

People normally dont look up because human are always at ground level. The brain works where your line of sight is your space safe. Normally people would only look up if they are uncertain or feeling uneasy or something caught your attention. Also another factor is when you walk you focus on the surroundings in your eye level, if you are looking for something unusual and cant see it with in line of sight then you change view to the ground or above.

Glad to see this LP'd. The devs are veterans who worked on Bioshock and Dishonored, among other games. And the voice actors include Ashy Burch (Chloe from Life is Strange). So its kind of surpring that this game went largely unnoticed.

welonz, you thaught me to look up. idk if you know, i've been here for a long time, and i dont really know in which video you said it for the first time, because i watched whole lot of them, but that thing stuck with me. so when i get down, sad or whatever, i would usually just remember to look up, so i look up and i somehow feel better (works better outside XD sometimes its the stars, sometimes clouds, the moon, sky, or even just that thought of looking up, but it gets my mind off the thing getting me down ). i know it sounds lame but it works for me :) so thanks!

I remember Welonz pointing it out in her Beyond Two Souls let's play. Pretty sure it was the train scene when she was running away and climbed up the rock wall, hiding from the guards that didn't think to look up. I think I remember her also bringing it up in her Tomb Raider 2013 playthrough maybe possibly. Either way, it's nice that that's helped you.

How many people have you seen in real life, walking around, looking up? I bet not that many. Humans are conditioned to be aware of things on the ground, they are more dangerous to us than things that might come from above. When we play games we just apply what we do irl. Game certainly looks interesting. Looking forward to seeing more of it.

My fav touch is that the circle trap you fall into displays your computer's CPU and video card data in the stacktrace. That was a nice detail.

As far as protecting the NPCs goes people complained about quest critical NPCs in Bethesda games being completely invulnerable... You really cannot please the players. One thing I liked about this game is the black and white sketch like initial textures. I actually would really love to see a game rendered completely in that style.

If people rarely look up, then don't bother much with design above eye level and make the ground beautiful instead. Problem solved. Or make the main character fly.

Yeah, and I couldn't help but notice that it's the first thing Welonz did too, as soon as she got control: looked at the ceiling of the hut. So I think the "players don't look up" thing is inaccurate; it may apply in real life, but plenty of players like to explore and look around in games.

Which one? In either case, no. Ish is James Urbaniak (known from numerous movies and TV series, but this is one of his first game roles), and the one who unlocked the Pro mode is Stephen Russell (Corvo Attano from Dishonored 2, Nick Valentine from Fallout 4, Garrett from the original Thief series, and various other similar roles).
