    Can I negotiate with alien species about open trade through their sector of space and then identify how many different genders exist on the planet (if any) and sleep with them all, as any decent captain would? If I can't bang different species, what is the point of even exploring space? Ships and lasers are cool, but they only exist to spread the influence of post scarcity thinking and the ability to bang anyone or anything one possibly can. So if you were to rate the bang level of this game, a 1 being the bang of a non-photon conventional weapon or a 10 being the captain or 1st officer banging a multi-gendered entity of pure energy, where would this game fall on the bang-ometer?

    Speaking as someone who is also medicated, I don't see any problem with it, I think we forget how much our personalities and moods are affected by brain chemistry. All medications are doing is helping those of us with a chemical imbalance to deal with it all. I think it's great we live in a time where people with brain chemistry imbalances can get it treated (and we should be able to talk about medications as not being good or bad)

  • @petecabrina

    @petecabrina

    5 күн бұрын

    @@Lorddegree1 as someone who has had different issues for over 25 years the whole brain chemistry model and medication is incredibly narrow minded and somewhat outdated, not that it is irrelevant. Medications can also be incredibly problematic over the medium to long term and can have worse consequences than what you started out with, they need to be approached with caution. There is a psychiatrist here on YT who covers a lot of this, Dr. Josef, he also did an interview with another psychiatrist this year, Mark Horowitz talking about the dangers of anti-depressants and the complete lack of awareness in medicine about side effects and coming off them properly, as he discovered himself when he tried too, then wrote a book about properly taper protocols. I am glad it has worked out for you though and in general its probably not that big of a deal, a lot of the time people start having problems on multiple medications too, when doctors start chasing symptoms like idiots. Over medication in some countries is a massive issue though, and the off labelling of some things, like anti-psychotics which is completely insane, especially in children, basically medical negligence and corporate greed.

  • @kamimoros

    @kamimoros

    5 күн бұрын

    @@Lorddegree1 I have several problems with it. First, a huge percentage is medicated and from younger and younger ages. As we don't exactly know how SSRI work (some recent studies have shown that it doesnt affect the uptake of serotonin but instead enhances brain plasticity) we also don't know the long-term effects of them. Its definitely better than depression, don't get me wrong, but it shouldnt be THE solution to the problems. Also I don't think that the only reason we have more depression cases is because people talk about it more, but also because we have created a system in which a large percentage (10-20% of the people) falls under the cracks, and for me medication is but a bandaid on this gaping fleshwound.

  • @Lorddegree1

    @Lorddegree1

    @@kamimoros Did you know that when we stopped demonizing people who were left-handed, the number of people who were left-handed suddenly had a massive increase? Same for people who are queer (in particular Trans), people who are neurodivergent, etc. I also don't know who you're talking to, but people who are actually on medication for things like depression (or other disorders such as ADHD) aren't morons who think that you pop a pill and you're suddenly cured. I have ADHD, and my medications allow me to be in a mind-state where I can manage my symptoms in a way that wouldn't be possible without them. By demonizing medications, all you're really saying is "I don't want you to have a tool that can help you function in society"

    The packs are super sealed now because as recently as 2X2, it was possible to open the corner of a pack, search the rare with a scope, and re-seal it with a cheap handheld impulse sealer. They now use perforated seals on the packs which cause them to tear apart if you open them. It's a good move.

Also advocating for mental health and actively breaking the stigma by talking about it so openly. You are truly an inspiration in many way

    The way I would mesure success is "Did the set acomplish anything?". For Modern Horizons: did it make Modern more rich in options, did it shake not break the meta, did it make expensive baselevel cards (fetch lands for example) more afordable or replacable, did people like the cards or theme... If it's not forgetable it was a success, we dont remember the bad sets unless they come up in conversation; unless they are remembered as the example of what not to do, like Homelands. (also, if you make 1000 and serialize them, why have 4 digits instead of 3 and use the 000?)

Just hearing you talk about whatever is on your mind as you open packs feels like a deeper connection is being made. This episode in particular hits deeper than any I've watched so far. I've been battling my own mental illness and hearing that conversation from you makes me feel like I do actually matter and I should actually continue to try my best to find happiness and self love. Enough rambling. Just wanna say "Thank you". I needed this episode more than I thought I would.

Especially in a community such as MtG where people can get addicted to cracking packs being open and honest about mental health is refreshing and wonderful to see. I'm thankful that you shared your experience and struggles with it as you have a platform that reaches and helps so many already, and am thrilled that you are in a good place in life.
