Single earrings are great! I use single vintage clip-ons and screw-backs as pendants - particularly effective on a torque. Screw-backs can also be linked together in a pair, or a bunch, for a chunkier pendant - and you can hang lobster clip-on charms from these too, if you want to go full maximalist. I use single sterling silver earrings for my asymmetrically positioned secondary ear piercings.
