    I checked last night, I have watched every single one of your videos from when you first started making them. And you have convinced me that foam is what I will use when I build a home/garage in the future. Appreciate your time putting all of these videos together and all of the useful information you provide! Thank you Mike!

    I understand that insects and/or rodents burrow in spray foam. Can an additive be put in the mix to make the foam inhospitable to them? For instance, something like diatomaceous earth, which has sharp edges.

    Had a house fire. Taking this opportunity to replace the part of the house that was damaged from batting to foam. After watching your videos I have pretty much stumped some contractor's. Looking for a proper underlayment for the roof deck under the tin has been the hardest to discuss with people. Still haven't found a contractor that seems to understand what underlayment is needed

    Back in the 70s, Rapco foam was the big noise. It was - I believe, you know better - urea/formaldehyde. They used it on commercial structures as a sound damper for steel parts and sound insulation between floors. However, the outgassing was toxic until the foam stabilized. Since then, the formulas have changed. In fact, five years ago we had to leave the house for 24 hours with the windows open because of the fumes. This past fall, the same company told us we didn't have to leave at all and there was practically no smell. I love foam insulation for everything you point out. What have you seen in the formula and the downstream effects one needs to know about?

    Mike around 6:21 mark and after it looks like you are spraying galvalume? I’ve been watching your video and thought in the past you said that galvalume must be prime red first? I ask because I have a new red iron building that I’m going to have closed cell foamed and the ceiling is galvalume, sides are painted. Thanks for you content!

  • @SprayJones

    @SprayJones

    It is galvanized metal, and sprayed in late October. The client was advised we would not be able to prime it and after we both discussed it he opted to have it sprayed anyhow; getting late season insulation on was more important and he was out of good weather days.

    Mike, have you taken infrared photos of the steel buildings you've sprayed? I'm still curious about the difference in thermal bridging between wood vs steel purlins. I've seen your images where the wood studs are barely visible in IR with 2" of closed cell.

  • @SprayJones

    @SprayJones

    Жыл бұрын

    No we have not taken images. But consider this, it has been -34 C here since we did the job. The owner has the heat on, the purlins are not condensing.

  • @antonadamsfuchs

    @antonadamsfuchs

    @@SprayJones That's a good sign, assuming there's interior humidity. I guess I'm asking in consideration of going with wood purlins vs light gauge steel in barndominium design. I hear a lot about thermal bridging, however your indications suggest it's overblown. I'd be very interested to see if the closed cell packed into light gauge framing effectively eliminates thermal transfer through the steel.

    Hi Mike any thoughts on foaming RTM's and if there is any risk of cracking or separation from studs or surfaces during the move?

  • @SprayJones

    @SprayJones

    Жыл бұрын

    No risk of cracking. We have done a bit of that. The CCSPF is so strong the home will be locked in the position it sits in the yard. The issue with RTM guys is not getting stiffed on the bill. I have worked for 3 and all 3 are bankrupt.
