    It's so cool to know that this song is still one of the gateway songs for guitarists. I learned this when I was 12 back in 1985 but things were a bit different then. Besides the the fact that we wore duct tape for shoes and walked to school uphill, both ways, in a snowstorm, there were no apps and video references were not universally available or in the abundance there are today. We had to painstakingly hit play and rewind on a tape player until we figured it out only after we bought the entire recording with money that our parents said "didn't grow on trees". Many times the tape would get "eaten" by the machine (You haven't truly lived until you hear your favorite album get shredded by a cheap tape mechanism). The tablature of the day was horrible, exclusive and expensive. Kudos to you for making a kick-*ss app and showing people HOW to learn. This is a streamlined, intelligent way for sure. Geez I feel really old now, I'm gonna go eat some Geritol and take a nap... JK, LOL. 🤣 Yes more videos like this!

    This was a lot of fun! Minor addition if you are learning along, for the riff at 04:07 you can slide into the first note (9 on the G string) and then also slide from 7 to 5 on the D string at the end of the riff. Here's a link to the loop for the riff in the video: www.looper.tube/?v=FLTchCiC0T0&s=0&e=58.8&spd=1 Let me know what other riffs you'd like me to try in this format :)

    2:28 @Rachelf, yeah, you can use the tonality of the note to figure out which “version” of the note is being used, especially if you don’t have a reference video to work with. I have used this method several times as well. But, sometimes its easier to play the “equivalent” note, simply because it might be physically closer or easier to play. Nice video and love the reverse engineering =)

    Your looper app is really good, I used it a lot last October when I was learning the lead parts of don’t fear the reaper; I struggle the most with playing lead so I used that song to try to improve my playing, and your app really helped me. I have a similar feature on my positive grid spark amp’s app but I think I like your app’s UI better, it’s very easy to use. Thanks 🙂👍🎸

    I'm old, so youtube wasn't a thing when I was learning. I used to learn techniques by going to local shows and watching guitar players fingers, and then try to learn riffs from songs I liked by ear at home and my mistakes became riffs for my own songs. Your videos are fun to watch because you're basically doing it the same way I learned and it reminds me of how fun the process was.

    Hey Rachel, I wanted to maybe perhaps give a little feedback about your loopertube site after using it for a while. I've been using it ever since you first mentioned it, but sometimes I use longer videos and it's hard to use the duration slider and be precise down to the second. I was wondering if you'd possibly look into an option that would let us enter a starting/ending timestamp manually..? I thought I'd offer a tiny amount of feedback now that I've had some time to use it frequently. It's been quite useful. 🙏

    Thank you for sharing! That definitely is an issue right now. I am thinking about ways to improve that experience (like maybe letting you zoom in on the timeline or set times specifically with text). Need to experiment with it a bit more to see what feels best, but will try to improve it somehow!

  • @microsoftpain

    @microsoftpain

    Жыл бұрын

    @@RachelfGuitar Thank you for the reply 😃 It is very much appreciated! I think a text input might be easier at least from a user standpoint, but definitely experiment with it and do what you think is best. I'm not really over the beginner hump when it comes to programming, lol. Nonetheless, I'm gonna keep using it. Thanks so much! 😃 Oh, also, I am not really sure what the higher speeds are for (above 1x), unless someone decides they want to play even faster? I suppose the website can be used for other things unrelated to instruments.. I don't know, I'm just thinking about it all from a guitar mindset.

  • @RachelfGuitar

    @RachelfGuitar

    Жыл бұрын

    @@microsoftpain Yeah, the issue with the text input option is that it takes up space and can make things feel more cramped if you are using it on a small screen/on a phone. But I need to mess around with it a bit more to decide! The more than 1x speed I mainly just left in because KZread has it, but yeah I could see people potentially using the app for different purposes where speeding it up could be useful. I've also sometimes (rarely) gone above 1x speed when learning a song on guitar to make 1x speed feel easier 😄

  • @microsoftpain

    @microsoftpain

    Жыл бұрын

    @@RachelfGuitar That's understandable! I forget that going above 1x can help trick the brain a bit when it comes to making 1x easier. I should probably do that more. Thanks again. 😃🙏
