Hall of the mountain king seems like a fun exercise. Famous tone from Norway's beloved Edward Grieg (my home country). Metal and a lot of other music could not have existed without a classical foundation. Tony Iommi even mentioned his influence from classical on the "Black Sabbath" song.

The riffs for Paranoid are some of the first that helped me learn palm muting too! I like that riff you played from Nightwish. I like them too, but I haven't learned any of their riffs yet. Think I'll change that starting with She Is My Sin. Sick video 🤘🏻

Very interesting! Sometimes I just watch Rachel because of her good spirit! And what I really value: She is not playing out the "feminine charms" which some other female guitarists on KZread do - yes they may be good, but it doesn't feel right, rather manipulative. So thanks Rachel for what you are.

Totally agree, I am so much better at learning when I'm passionate about the song/riffs. Although, I see that my technique gets behind for styles that I don't feel so keen, so I focused on lead for my first 3 years, and now I see some basics of Palm mutting that I still haven't nailed... I see that's also important as I am trying to cover all the guitars nowadays (rather than just the one)... very instructive video, as always :)

there's still time John, I tried to play guitar at 16, then when I was 23ish, now I have finally been playing for nearly 4 years straight (just reached 40yo). Just don't worry about the outcome, pick that guitar and lear an easy riff you are passionate about :) you can do it, if you are having fun you will learn a 2nd riff and just go one riff at a time :)

Hey Rachel, please let Ibenez know your followers appreciate your content. I ordered this same guitar, an updated version from Sweetwater just a couple months ago. Love it. Having it set up next week with #9 strings, lower action, and a new nut. The next guitar will be a Fender Strat of G&L. I'm leaning G&L. Would love to see some reviews of a G&L. Thank you again for all your hard work in creating this content, it is very much appreciated. FYI... I also picked up a Baby Taylor for travel, in Mahogany, it's perfect.

Leo Fender himself said if you’re going to buy a Stratocaster style guitar, get a G&L, as he kept improving on his original design throughout his long career and G&L was the last guitar company he owned. Having owned each myself, I can recommend the G&L version wholeheartedly.

That Ibanez is still my favorite of your guitars. That top is just gorgeous! It’s really neat to look at songs that helped you a lot in your journey and it helps to have the footage to compare between then and now. It really helps to record yourself playing and revisit those videos. Would actually be cool if you show people how to organize all the practice videos for easy referencing for one’s future self whether a person uses a computer or phone. Video idea? 🤔 We all go through struggles while we are first learning new things. When we get to a point that the song is recognizable, we are proud - but then we start to realize that it’s all in those minute details if we want to truly make it sound like the original recording or our favorite live performance. Looking back, it’s sometimes incredible to think that I struggled to do ______ (insert skills, songs, etc.) when I started playing in March 2020, yet can now do those things with ease. Then again, each time I learn something new, I sound like a beginner again, lol. Probably happens to most of us! When you toss a new challenge into the mix, it’s like the fingers forget what to do the rest of the time, lol. 😂 Thanks, Rachel! Btw, do they make a larger version of that amp? It looks so much bigger in the Amazon pics, lol. That recording feature is great. It really helps that you can plug it directly into a phone and have better audio recording quality. Btw, the JamStack 2 amp just started shipping after several years of delays between a pandemic and technical issues. It’s going to make all those popular practice amps, as well as some larger ones, look like toys with the specs and features they built in. I hope you’ll get your hands on one to let us know what you think! It’s gonna be legit. I can tell from the demo vids they’ve posted for months now. I was most impressed when they used it in a loud, full convention center setting and the amp was heard loud and clear from a nice distance away. Seems to work with nearly any instrument that has a jack - they showed it being used with guitar, bass, e-violin, and they all sound amazing. I’m very excited about this thing. Would be great if you can check it out.

Thanks! They do make a similar larger amp, the SD30i. I think that may be listed on the same page. I used that one in the other 5 riffs that taught me guitar video! Haven't heard of the JamStack, will check it out :)

My friend, keep growing! You are doing great! I have been playing for 40 years now and still love to play! I once was in a terrible band called Raging Flare and we went no where fast! In the really short time we existed (3 months) people thought our band name was Rachel Flair. So even though I'm a guy...I chose that name as my youtube name to remind me of how crappy things can be. After that band I met Paul Chapman, lead guitarist from the band UFO and Waysted (LOOK THEM UP!) and took lessons from him for 3 years! Please listen to the song 'Heroes Die Young' from Waysted. Pete Way was the lead singer and bass player hence the name Waysted. But PLEASE listen to that song! Paul Chapman on all lead guitars! My career has allowed me to meet Rick Derringer, Robin Trower, Lindsey Buckingham, Yngwie Malmsteen, Buddy Guy, Samantha Fish, Vinnie Moore, Vivian Campbell, Johnny Van Zant, Randy Bachman, Mark Farner, Herbie Hancock, the real Molly Hatchet band, Andy Powell, and Art Alexsakis of Everclear. All because I was a session player for many different bands...many unknown. Music has freed my soul and allowed me to meet many of my heroes! ROCK ON!!! Never look back!!
