Oh heaven's yes! Becky has become my rock! She inspires every day! Long story short, two years ago I almost died from near organ failure. Despite the "Plan your funeral" mindset of my doctors, I decided to fight. Didn't know how I would but I was going into battle. Acre homestead was the first channel I came across and it gave me the encouragement, the joy and the strength to embark on a new chapter of my life. Now? I'm completely healthy, happy, strong and motivated. I have two huge gardens, I preserve food at least two days a week, cook from scratch, garden everyday and am now going to be starting my own channel soon! Thank you Becky. You change people's lives in so many wonderful ways! 😁❤️

I subscribed so I'll be ready when you start your channel. 🙂 I'm happy for you.
As a VERY old gardener, can I give you a tip about your ginger? If you want a continuous supply of fresh ginger, I would suggest you plant a couple of pieces of ginger in the center of a decorative pot (such as you might use around your patio!), then plant colorful annuals around them. Depending on how much fresh ginger you use during a year, you might want to plant more than one such pots. (I suggest you plant more than you think you'll need, because the first year you'll have slim pickings on those tubers...) They will grow all summer, and as you now know, they grow vertical foliage, which looks really nice in the center of an ornamental pot. At the end of the summer, stop watering those pots, pull out the annuals, cut the stalks off the ginger, and move the "empty" pots into your basement area; the ginger goes dormant for the Winter. If you need fresh ginger for a recipe at any time of year, go out with a spoon or something, dig up what you need, and leave the rest in the pot. The first year you will probably have to be careful not to use too much of the ginger roots, but by the end of the second year, you should have plenty to use.
I love how your dad gets such joy out of dining up the potato and calls them Treasures you have some really good parents

Becky, I have to tell you that you've been a true blessing to me the past several months! I had lost so much interest in "living life", until I subscribed to your channel. Now I have my desire to live and garden, and cook, and clean. My husband can hardly believe the difference in my personality, and desire to live my best life. And watching you with your parents is so beautiful! I miss my parents desperately at times. But this helps ease the pain of not having them with me anymore. And be sure and tell your mom and dad that they're precious! Love it when they're helping you harvest the veggies! God Bless you all! Much love from Louisiana!🥰

Warm hugs from Japan ❤ Becky has helped me a lot too! I love to watch last year’s pumpkin harvest! kzread.info/dash/bejne/la2dxJmrkrzNe7A.html Edited to put the link of the harvest!
Anise hyssop is a wonderful herb! Not only does it attract pollinators (which would make having it worthy all by itself), but you can make a lovely tea from it (can help support digestion, congestion or lift mood) and eat the flowers and leaves raw added to a salad. I pop them in my mouth in the garden. The leaves have been used as a poultice for burns, also. And this plant friend has been found to have antioxidant and antimicrobial value. And you can use the flowers, leaves and seeds in baking. Anise hyssop enjoys a long and interesting use traditionally, including by indigenous peoples, and continues to be grown and worked with by herbalists, gardeners and cooks. Hope this helps! And how wonderful to get your parents' help. So heartwarming to watch you all working in the garden together. And my husband liked the step on your dad's truck when I showed him. We use a step stool but this would work so much better. :-) Great late harvest you got there, including the ginger and turmeric! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Becky, I scrolled through to make sure I could consolidate with the other Anise info. Thanks for posting this info Ctviera! This is my family's favorite cookie using the Anise seed: 3 Cups sifted flour, 1 tsp cream of tartar, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 1/4 Cup sugar, 2 Tbsp Anise Seeds, 1/2 cup shortening, 2 well beaten eggs. and if you have it, 1 tsp or less Anise seed oil. Blend the shortening and the sugar, add the eggs, mix dry ingredients and add to the moist. mix it up to form a ball. Cover the ball with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. After chilled, form small 1-inch balls and place on parchment paper on cookie sheet. bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes, watch closely, you want just a slight gold around the edges not burnt. cool and enjoy. Thanks for sharing your wonderful parents with us, they were absolute joy to watch!

Becky, harvest that anise seed!! I've done research on both Star Anise and Anise seed - both have medicinal properties, but the Anise seed is actually better. It doesn't have as strong a licorice flavor or scent as the Star Anise (the plants are totally different & originate from different countries) but it has a better "antibiotic" property than the Star Anise. I have used both - I have made tea with both. If you love licorice, then get the Star Anise for tea, but for medicinal properties go with the Anise seed. I didn't grow mine, I bought an organic co-op seed, but have been completely amazed at how well it works. I had a severe tooth ache and started on the tea and almost over night was feeling better. The nice thing about the Anise seed vs. the Star Anise is that the licorice flavor/scent is much more subtle so making it into a tea blend is perfect! Hope this info helps you and others!

Mom and Dad are becoming more talkative and used to being videoed! I love them!
I love when I see your dad's reaction to the potatoes. He is right only God can create such great things.
That plant is Anise Hyssop, which is different from Anise. It is in the mint family and good for cough and cold symptoms, as well as antibacterial for treating wounds in a salve. You can also use it as a companion plant for cabbage to deter cabbage moth and flea beetles.
Hi all! Quick suggestion for your mom. If you struggle with rodents in your garden plant mint in pots throughout the garden. Rodents hate the smell and it will keep them out! Be sure to use pots though because the mint will take over!

It cracks me up any time anyone moves after being in one place more than a year. Everyone always says, "Oh I had more stuff than I thought I did!" It is also a delight to hear you exclaiming over the harvests of potatoes, tumeric, and ginger. Always thankful for a harvest of any size. 🥰

Hi Becky. Turmeric leaves are edible, over here in South East Asia it's used fresh, finely shredded, like a herb. It's a main ingredient in our wonderful 'rendang' (a curry-like dish) and makes them so fragrant. Maybe you could try using it in other curries too:)

And congrats to you and your son for your new garden. I hope it's prosperous for y'all! Because of Becky, I also want to start a garden. I just hope to at least built one raised bed in time to plant garlic 🤞🏻.
Isn't it crazy when you move and think you have it all, then check places like under the stairs, in a shed, or high shelf and you end up with more than another load? So glad your wonderful folks were there to help and encourage you to keep going. It can be overwhelming, and that extra encouragement makes all the difference. Your folks are so sweet!!
I love your Fathers reaction to digging up the potatoes and finding so many. Isn’t your mom just so sweet…..❤️🫶❤️
For the Ginger, soak it for 24 hours before planting if it is just store bought. They coat it with growth inhibitor. That may have impacted your crop.
It's probably best not to move soil from one garden to another, in case there are pest eggs or microorganisms your new garden does not have. What a wonderful harvest and how great your parents are to help out! They are treasures!

I just love your parents. They are just beautiful souls. Can't wait to watch you and your little one in your garden planting and harvesting yummy friuts and veggies. If you decide to share.
Weve been blessed with all these amazing videos. I know its probably very stressful for you going back and forth trying to juggle day life, pregnancy, preserving, jarring cooking and harvesting and moving things back and forth between the houses. Am incredibly amazed you have managed to film so much but I've been absolutely loving the videos the now. I've been watching you for about 6 months and I think this may be my first time commenting but your my favourite channel now by far. I personally dont eat meat but I love every aspect of your channel. ❤ I adore watching your garden grow from seed to harvest 🌱 it's not somthing I am able to do myself atm but I've been more and more wanting to start even with just somthing small like strawberries to try. Thank you for all your amazing hard work and effort. And for being able to film it all. Remeber some self care TLC as you always seem so 100% its amazing to watch but idk how you havent burnt out by now. Harvest season seems so beautiful to be blessed with such produce but seems like it would be highly stressful too and a house move on top of it all. Thank you for your unbelievably amazing effort and for taking us along for the experience ❤
Just loving it when your parents make their Cameo appearances! I can see how loving of a family you all are❤
I love your parents. Whenever they arrive and say hi I always say hi and wave at the screen! I love their enthusiasm for the treasure hunt. It's clear to see that your excitement and enthusiasm for gardening and harvesting, at least in part comes from your parents. You filled my day with joy.

Becky, thank you for sharing your mom with me. I know if my mom were still alive we'd be watching you together or chatting about what you do each week as a highlighted conversation. I'd give anything to harvest with my mom one more time and clean up the garden. She was always such a big help and dropped so much knowledge during these times. It so nice to watch you create this memory building time with your loving family.
Oh I just love mom & dad! Dad was so cute when you and mom were harvesting green beans and tomatoes and I could hear dad over talking to the potatoes he was harvesting. Such a blessing and joy to have them in your life! Cherish every moment with them that you can! I lost both mine, when still in my 20s and I miss them dearly! I’m so thankful God gave me to a learned mama, who left me with all her knowledge of canning and preserving. It was another beautiful harvest, Becky 🥰.

I love it when your parents are in the videos ( both sets of families ) . You are very lucky to be surrounded by loved ones.
Oh Becky, mom and dad. I don't think you have any idea the place you hold in so many people's lives and hearts! I adore snuggling up to watch your videos and see what you're getting up to, you bring me calm and joy when I feel like I have none, and you have helped me appreciate the small yet beautiful few tomatoes my husband and I haphazardly grew for the first time this year. What a blessing to have such active, supportive parents
Becky, it's the perfect time of year for your cilantro. They really struggle in the heat. I'm getting ready to plant some myself, so I can have them all winter long. I live in Southern California and we don't get below the 20s here. It took me a few failures to figure out to plant them in the fall through early spring. Your garden is gorgeous!
I love when your parents are in your blogs. They are both so sweet, and your dad reminds me of my dad. He passed away last summer, but would help me any time with any thing. And always with a sense of humor.
You're parents are awesome! Parents love helping their kids - it satisfies the soul!
Your parents seem like such nice people, and they get such great exercise by helping you as well.
I don't know, but I think you may be becoming a "too real friend," folks are going to think I'm getting a little strange! Oh well, let 'em, that's the way I think of you, my friend Becky! Thank you so much for letting me join you and your Mom, Dad, and Josh on your latest garden adventure. I'm always excited to see what "treasure" your Dad is going to find. Love and a hug!
Your parents....what a gift they are. As well you are twice as lucky because of Josh's family as well . Both of you talk care ! I don't know why but it makes me so happy to see the chickens walking around.
You’re parents are so amazing. You are so blessed. Love your Dads you tube channel too! ❤
Your parents are amazing! Your dad hunting for treasure brings a smile to my face every time, and your mom's smile is the sweetest. 💜
I just need to put out there how I just moved out on my own and recently found Becky's channel and watching her video has both kept me company and inspired me to take better care of myself. I so appreciate everything you do Becky, and I love your channel!
It's so lovely to see the chickens enjoying themselves. They're so cute.
Anise hyssop is not recommended for pregnancy or breastfeeding so be very careful! I grew some this year, but I'm still breastfeeding so I'll have to wait. My husband will be able to just it for congestion during the cold/flu season. I loved seeing your parents' excitement in the garden with you! I can tell where you get your positive attitude! ❤️
Becky, I just wanted to thank you. You inspired me to get off my duff today and contact some local farmers to find less processed local food products. I am now connected with a local food coop and a farm that sells grass fed beef, pork and chicken. Their default is grass fed, grass finished. If you want grain finished, you have to ask them to pull a cow aside for you! I was thrilled. I never would have reached out if I hadn't become a fan of your channel. I love when your Mom is on. Her enthusiasm is contagious! You must get that from her.
I love tiny potatoes, they taste so nutty, mmmmmmmmm! I love your dad, he's such a crackup! Your mums so cute! I think you need to gift her one of your roo aprons, she'd love that! ❤️ You seriously need to stop doubting your ability to grow things Becky! Your parents are amazing! Yay, more cooking happening very soon! Love it all.
Your parents are so wonderful. I am so glad I found your channel last year. To see the growth has been amazing....because you and your family are what people come back for. I can watch any number of meal prep, gardening, ect....but I genuinely love your personality. Thank you all for sharing your lives. I also watch your dad's channel almost every single day. You have been a blessing in my life.
Your parents are so sweet❤️ Your mother has such a caring and kind voice! Your father is so good at explaining and showing what he is doing! I can see where you get your kindness and gift to teach! Thank you for taking us along the moving of your garden!
What a beautiful harvest! No wonder you’re so blessed! You treat your lovely parents with so much love! God bless them! Anise is great in tea, helps with bloating, gas issues, and colds. “Syrup” Rum, too!
Your parents are stinken adorable! What a blessing to have your parents! Enjoy them! ❤
When you get through the day easier cause you know at the and of the day, there will be a new video from Becky. Thank you so much.
Ive been tuning in to your dads prayers on his personal channel and I just hope he knows how much of a blessing he has been to my life. I treat his videos like podcasts because he’s such a joy to listen to and speaks with so much passion and emotion that I can genuinely always picture his face even when just listening. He makes faith easy and something to be excited about and I owe him so much gratitude ❤️❤️ still love your mom the most though 😂 she’s just magnificent with her amazing personality and her natural way of being so so funny without even trying ❤ but tell your dad as someone who always made fun of church folks and just recently discovered my faith, I appreciate him alot

Hi Becky I just wanted to let you know what you can do with Anise seeds. I know the Italian people make delicious cookies using it as a flavor in the cookies. I think it's actually in the parsley family. It's actually an herb and used for medication as well. You can Google it and read about it. My husband is Italian and his grandmother made Anise cookies.

Also the anise seeds are used in a dutch tradition after giving birth. the seeds are 'sugarcoated' and colored in blue or pink, to announce the birth en gender reveal of the baby. the seeds and/or the tea are good for lactation. best wishes and i hope you and your family are gonna have a lovely time with each other and the baby!

Don't eat anis during pregnancy.
I have watched your videos for maybe a month now and have managed to binge watch everything up till now. And I must say that you've quickly become a permanent fixture in my life these past few weeks. I am completely invested in your journey. I love your family. Your mom ad dad are quickly becoming two of my favorite people. And I'm just so grateful to have come across your channel ❤❤❤
