Let's EAT Delicious STREET FOOD in Thailand 🇹🇭

Do you enjoy street food and local cuisine? Or do you shy away from it? This street food guide will help you to learn more about this unique culture.
Here in Chiang Mai Thailand the street food scene is amazing and so I thought I would make a travel guide of sorts today to share my Top 7 tips on how to order and how to eat street food safely every time!
My 7 Top Tips to Ordering and Eating Street Food -
1 - Do a walk around, see what's on offer, see where is busy or full with the most locals (usually a very good sign), and see what the locals are eating (be a little noisy).
2 - Use your senses, lf it looks and smells amazing, chances are it will be!
3 - Avoid foods that look to be sitting out (places that cook to order are your best option).
4 - Choose a vendor that specializes on one or just a handful of dishes. Chances are they are extremely skilled and experienced in cooking the dish perfectly every time.
5 - Avoid getting too experimental too early... break yourself in slowly, don't order something to extreme, let your tummy adapt to the flavors and spices over time.
6 - Do your research before hand... what dishes are famous in that area? Make a list of food you want to try, learn what's in them, and try to find out where is most recommended.
7 - Save room for dessert!

As an ex chef having grown up in a French and Seafood restaurant in Melbourne, I love Thai street food I will occasionally have room service, but the best food is always street food, also living in a big Vietnamese community as well, love Vietnamese, and Malay street food is amazing too. I think you need too send this video to the BBC or ITV or Streaming companies as you are a natural at describing flavours and the whole experience, it’s very polished but natural, not just yanking your chain I’m a performer and have performed in a lot of places around the world, not much money in what I do, but that’s not why I do it, I have to do it to remain sane. Anyway seriously a young guy eating street food throughout Thailand for a start, that would appeal to lots of different audiences especially right now when people can’t travel. Seriously you need to make a pitch. Now I’m hungry and it’s nearly 2am.

Paddy I love your 7 tips. As for number 1, I call it, "Do a walk about." Never go to the first place you see. Also, I agree, go to a place that specializes in only a few dishes. As someone who helped my gf in Indonesia run two warungs (small family run eatery). Last, (even though you mentioned it) number 8 look for places where locals are eating, and you normally do not go wrong. Great video.

I’d like to add a little bit on the issue of food allergies. We found that instead of asking the seller if they have this or that (the things that you are allergic to) in their food or not, just tell them before you ask that you are allergic to what and then ask if they have that in the food. You will get a nicer response from the seller.

My tip after having been to Thailand since 1989 is when you order street food I always look for an inside table as far away from the road side as possible because I do not like to breath in road traffic exhausts while I eat. That is just me you might not mind.

Love the street food in Thailand. Spent a month on Koh Samui a few years back and would frequently visit the night markets for the street food. My wife is Thai, while living in Thailand she didn't really cook because of all the street food available. Here in the US she cooks a lot of the Thai dishes, but we are both looking forward to being able to return to visit the Kingdom next year.

The eggs on the stick look like something I tried in Battambang, Cambodia, once - they made a hole in the egg, took out the egg white and egg yolk, mixed it with spices, put it back in the egg through the hole and cooked it. Quite delicious. But you never know - on the same day I was offered an egg which contained a half developed baby duck! Wouldn‘t recommend the latter unless you are a very adventurous eater ... Still, I really, really miss these food adventures in Asia.

Very common sense advice, I am curious with pad krapow as I actually learned to cooked it before I am going to Thailand. So this is going to be very interesting.

Another great film Paddy. I've been to that food market many times, fab food. So many streets food vendors in Chiangmai. Your presentation is fab. Mark Wiens watch out! Like the Chang beer too. Show us the Nightmarket in the centre of CM. next. Looking forward to watching you travel around the Kingdom. Best wishes from me here, still in the UK.

Good advice, keep a lot of space for dessert 😋🤭🤣. Also look around and see where many locals are eating their food. You will get the best food for sure. You can adapt this rule to any country in the world 👍. BTW nice video Mr. Doyle.

Oh yes please....that looks so good. I remember feeling pretty safe going to the night markets there because many street stalls didn't set up until about 5:00pm so it wasn't like the food sat out all day...Still needed to be careful but oh so good. And to finish it with fruit (it tastes so good there) or Mango Sticky Rice YUM!🏍🙏🤞🍺

Hey Paddy, great video! The first (of many) places I've been to in Thailand was Chiang Mai and I was determined not to be scared of the food, so I watched a lot of Darren B3's videos to get aquainted with which streetfood was what. I reckon you could do some great informative streetfood videos as you clearly know yor stuff. If I hadn't known what Kanom Kroc was I would have never tried it. That would have been a crying shame!

Brilliant video Paddy. Not that you asked, but we agree fully with your "7 steps to a great street food experience" 🤙😎 We pretty much live off street food and as you said, almost never have problems...we have gotten sick 3 times in the last 5 years (all at NICE restaurants...we'll be sticking to street food😱). You're a rock star Mr. Doyle! Already excited to see what you get up to on your Dream Tour. All the best! Kattie & Chris

Good energy in the videos. Another tip I would add, is, if it’s busy with the locals, it’s probably a good place. Some places may have people lining up so clearly the locals know about it and think it a good place. If a place has no customers when others do, there is probably a reason.

Great video and advice. Visited Chiang Mai a couple of years ago and was very nervous about trying street food. I wish I had that sort of advice and I might have tried more local dishes. The only thing that I found is when it is crowded, you don't get a lot of time to watch the cooking and getting the feel for the place, so going early is a far better thing to do, especially when you have just arrived. I will do this and use your advice when I am back in Asia. Thanks
