The smoothness is beyond ridiculous. It is so silky that it conveys through the camera without even sitting in the car. It shouldn’t be possible with those 4.000lbs of weight, yet here we are. Absolutely amazing.

my dream car

I know this stretch of Autobahn very well, it is between Bayreuth/Kulmbach and Bamberg. I always drive on cruise control 160km/h there and sometimes lower the speed because it gets a little uncomfortable in the tighter corners :D But you fly through there with 200 km/h... Amazing what these cars are capable of!

The engine seems to generate more than enough power. More power is nice but not necessary. There is no need for the petrol V8

Of the 3 big German saloons of this generation, which did you feel was the quietest? Would be interesting to hear from someone else who has driven all 3. I previously owned a 7 Series, test drove an A8 and S-Class and of the 3 the A8 felt by far the most premium, excelling in all categories. 7 Series and S-Class were comparable in my eyes with the S having much better seats and comfort and the 7 with the smoother and better gearbox and being a touch quieter on the autobahn. I felt the A8 was just ultra quiet, comfortable yet surprisingly dynamic like my 7 with rear wheel steering.

The A8 was really quiet due to double glazing. The most comfortable ride might be the S Class. The most dynamic - and with the best gearbox and the best engine - is the 7 Series in my opinion. The A8 in this generation always made me think of a bigger A6 - there was not much difference. But yes, the noice reduction was really good. A8 = bigger A6 S Class = driving couch 7 Series = the better 5 Series

It took quite a white for the car to get to 7th gear, can you explain why? Was your foot down the whole acceleration till 2:07?

Afin de recommander quelque chose, j'ai besoin d'un peu plus d'informations. J'ai conduit quelques modèles de la série W 222 mais je n'en ai jamais possédé moi-même. A partir du modèle 2015, la S 350 est un bon choix - mais surtout pour les longues distances. Si ce n'est pas le cas, une S 500 bien entretenue avec un V8 biturbo serait également une option. J'ai eu une fois le S 560 du modèle de lifting et avec ce moteur, la Classe S est vraiment complète. Mais cela dépend vraiment des exigences que vous placez le jour. Même avec le plus petit moteur, vous avez une différence notable par rapport à la Classe E.

Weird description, because this car's main purpose is to be driven on long and fast journeys.

That is actually the sense of such cars, to be super soft and comfortable at even the highest speeds. But then that drive is surely not for everyone, some people just like sportier handling better.

They handle very well actually, they roll obviously but the grip is tremendous and you can corner at huge speed if you don't mind giving the passengers sea sickness

+exoroxx I've heard it automatically applies when you open the door or stop the engine after selecting park. All you have to do with the switch is the release function (pull).

Mercedes is too soft, good for speeds up to 220 km/h. Higher speeds are far more welcome in the BMW 7 Series.

They aren't really competitives. The Audi A7 is far more dynamic, but you'd love the S Class for its comfort.

exoroxx You need Polarizing filter (CPL) for the cam, there will be much better image when driving into the sun, or maybe Go Pro have HDR video recording? Nice car, nice drive :) Verbrauch out of scale :)

It's the pedal feeling in comparison to other cars like A8, A7, 5 series, 7 series... The brake force is also not overwhelming.

exoroxx Thats just a "problem" with the individual break setting. In international tests, the breaking capabilities of the S-Class were tested always as good if not expetionally at 60/100 - 0.

+fantasticboomer Constant pressure yields better overall traction. Your cornering grip is only as good as your lowest level of traction- oscillations in the road during a corner rapidly increase and decrease normal force, which means lots of stick-slip behavior. That's really suspension's job. The rougher the surface, the longer and softer the suspension needs to be to compensate. :)

I think this is the second video of yours I've watched...and both times you're driving into the sun causing an unpleasant glare. Couldn't you do the trip in the opposite direction next time to avoide this? Thanks :-))

+SilverWave I activated the Adaptive Cruise Control (Distronic Plus) set at 125 kph and I suspect that it used 6th gear instead of 7th gear due to the decline (engine retarder). I was in E Mode (Efficiency), so it doesn't make sense at all that it don't want to use 7th gear. I can't explain it in another way...

Linus Kracht Indeed, i have not choosen them, because the breaking is to harsh. The standart breaks allow a much more dosed breaking instead the all or nothing ceramic ones.

Du fährst ständig viiiiel zu dicht auf, saugefährlich. Das Auto gibt ja selbst schon einen Warnton. Ja keine Sekunde auf die Bremse müssen, dafür einen Unfall bei hohem Tempo riskieren.. fahr doch mal mit Distronic falls Du es hast, das würde ganz anders aussehen. Wer schnell fährt muss idR auch viel Bremsen und das verursacht Stress, daher macht man es nicht gern, Distronic kann hier helfen.

Its sad how can be 3.0L that slow from 200kmh up its only good from 80-180 soo sad for car in that price range try remap or something
