Let's Blast! - Industrial Explosives During Blasting
Ғылым және технология
Are civil and military explosives the same? In other words, are we using the same explosives in mining and warfare? Well, yes and no. From the ninth century AD (though the historians are still uncertain about the exact date of its invention) to the mid-1800's, black powder was the only explosive available. A single type of explosives was therefore used as a propellant for guns and for blasting purpose in any military, mining and civil engineering application.
The Industrial Revolution carried new discoveries in explosives and initiation technologies. A specialization principle, therefore, operates between military and civil application of explosives thanks to new products economics, versatility, strength, precision or capability to be stored for long periods of time without significant deterioration. www.thebalance.com
The following factors shall be considered to determine the blast area:
• Geology or material to be blasted,
• Blast pattern,
• Burden, depth, diameter, and angle of the holes,
• Blasting experience of the mine,
• Delay systems, powder factor, and pounds per delay,
• Type and amount of explosive material, and
• Type and amount of stemming.

0:16 that was the most anime/movie "bombardment scene" I've ever witnessed in real life. Aggressive, straight lined, fast approaching yet somehow slow at the same time, and powerful. The best I can compare it to is the blasts of billowing smoke from an old steam freight train barrelling towards you. It's not fast but it's fast enough that you can't get out of the way and there is _nothing_ that can stop the mass behind it.

Coming from a geology major, this isn't hurting anything. Well not anything living. Occasionally you may create some accidental instability but other than that this is normal. It actually helps rock hounds and geologists alike because it removes weathering from the rock and roadsides are considered public land.

There is a few frames at 0:19 where you can see something green in color getting absolutely ejected from one of the explosion jets. I wish I knew the scale so I could calculate how fast it was moving because whatever it was is only visible for a couple of frames and then it's completely gone. It could be simply a jet of water given the color, but whatever it is, it's got some speed on it.

There is nothing that can't be settled with enough dynamite
The one at 2:20 was the best, not a lot of fly rock and dust, it folded over as planned. Worked at the old Kaiser Sand & Gravel pit in Clayton CA for twenty years. I have a few videos of their shots. Being in a residential area those shots were no more than forty holes making 40’ high benches.
At least two cameras gave their all during this complliation! Very good scenes.
