Lupino Lane has said that Director Ernst Lubitsch allowed him to direct his own scenes in the movie and it shows. Lupino had been directing his own pictures for years. Lubitsch was smart to allow that.

Always amazed by the pre-code era and how unstuffy it was compared to the next 3 decades.

Lupino Lane's acrobatic moves are amazing. I had to watch them in slow motion as well! A great underrated film talent. Many of his silent film comedies were unavailable due to destroyed negatives in a film vault fire in the 1930s and he became undeservedly forgotten. In the last decade or so, copies have been located and restored. I highly recommend seeing them. Funny and an incredible acrobat!

lillian roth had charisma to burn. tragically, her personal demons and alcoholism early destroyed her bright movie career. her memoir, "I'll cry tomorrow" is horrific as she describes her descent into hell over the years. always loved her early movie appearances. the movie version with susan hayworth greatly white-washes the grimness of her years.

(2/5/16) I had never even heard of this movie, "The Love Parade" (let alone of Lupino Lane), and TCM ran it tonight. The acrobatic nature of Lane's dancing made my jaw drop, and I wanted to see this number again. So I thought, "D'ya suppose KZread...?" As always, the answer was "yes." Between KZread and TCM, what else do we really need? (Note the date, kids: Sound was less than a year old, and, quite likely, the orchestra was on the soundstage with the performers... I cannot believe how good this sounds.)

Oh my goodness! I love Lillian. Incredible and wonderful acting slap stick comedy clip with a little bit of everything. I agree with Sven, Susan Hayward didn't sound anything like the sweet voice of Lillian Roth. Susan Hayward did do a remarkable job in capturing Lillian Roth sweet nature and great acting.

See, I'll take Lillian Roth and Lupino Lane over any group of four or five performers entertaining today. I read Lillian' autobiography and it holds the same level of horror we have today with all these big shots who abuse women with impunity. You should like for Lupino Lane in a real oddity on YT: a film of a BBC 1930s TV musical as the TV cameras saw it. TV had taken hold in England long before in the US, and of course WWII put a halt on commercial TV. The BBC TV excerpt is that tenacious ear worm, The Lambeth Walk.
