Let It Snow - Go Wild

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

"Snow is snow is snow" one might be tempted to say. Yet people in the Arctic have hundred of different names for snow while other cultures have never seen it. Nor is snowfall the same as snowfall.
In this extraordinary documentary we are going to witness very different kinds and situations of snowing: from howling blizzards to the gentlest and loveliest of weather events, from huge handkerchiefs quietly falling to the needle-sharp attack of hard, heavy grains. Snow - what is it really? How is it created - naturally and artificially? Thanks to CGI and new camera techniques we can actually see this process for the first time and listen to the incredible, inaudible music of snowfall, of myriads of tiny crystals touching and rolling and settling. Each snowflake is unique and bears more secrets than we could imagine. Did you know that different kinds of music influence the crystallization process and the shape of snowflakes? And have you ever imagined that we would be able to produce artificial snow that melts at 30 degrees Celsius? With this in mind: just let it snow!

I love winter. It's my favourite season. I hate summer. I'd probably not mind summer if it didn't get so boiling hot - if it were just, say, never warmer that 25 C. But it gets up to like 40 C. That's the thing about the Canadian prairies - such extremes! -40 in winter to plus 40 in the summer. I love love love -40, but the high 30s and up to 40 is just too much for me in summer. I hate it. I hate the heat, being sweaty, being sticky, yuck. Sunburns, sticky sunscreen, stinky bugspray, thunder storms always knocking the power out, tornadoes, all the bright light and heat and chaos are just gross, to me. Winter is so peaceful, calm, and beautiful. I hate to see it ending. I find it very hard when spring comes, and I have the entire long hot stupid summer to get through. Plus, this winter was so weird. It was so warm! It didn't snow until like JANUARY. And this is Saskatchewan, where it's normally snowing by September or October. Then when it finally did snow, there was so little! Never felt like a real winter, and now it's going away. I feel cheated out of a real winter. I don't know if it's global warming, or what, but it was so weird. It wasn't snowing on Christmas! People here are just not used to that. It didn't feel at all like Christmas.

Pity, to cut a living tree to use it a few weeks with a few lights and colored spheres...we still don’t learn.

Pity that people can't enjoy a beautiful Christmas tree, or appreciate the joy it brings people. FYI cutting down a few Christmas trees is not what's destroying the planet. Are we destroying it? Yes. But not over a few Christmas trees; there's other things we do that are literally millions and zillions upon zillions of times worse. It's better for our planet to cut down a tree, than to buy a plastic one that will be thrown in the landfill in a few years!
