Well ... A band said that ŠČ as a new word and is something that can be said in positive or negative meaning like fu.k for example. And yes, many od us in Croatia didn't sleep much last two nights because this melody stuck in our heads bit we like it.

This is an art protest performance, well thought in every detail, even Croatians didnt understand it at first , but after solving the puzzle that this performance is , i have to say its a masterpiece....lots and lots of hidden meaning , visual , music ,words and in any other possible way.....its satire at its best.the first part of the music references the soviet greyness and hopless monotony, the next part its about 90 s chaos in russia and than ..Putins era ...wery well thought in every detail....maybe not for the mainstream eurosong listener/viewer..well see

Tractor is a reference to Lukashenko's birthday present to Putin. In the song Putin is described as a "vile little psychopath", the vocalist represents Stalin, and the guy with rockets has NINLE on his forhead (wordplay:Nin-Le=Lenin) and is dressed as a monk to represent Rasputin. Mama ŠČ is a metaphor for Mother Russia (ŠČ is a letter specific to russian alphabet), and crocodile is a drug popular in Russia that makes people act like zombies. Guys are dressed in military uniforms but in pink and bright colors and are wearing dresses bcs Putin is homophobic. This is a true anti-war song we all need! Now I see why people don't like this, because is political? Song will get banned because it's political or inappropriate? Eurovision is not a musical contest but just a political setting, always full of scandals, selling votes, bribery, corruption. Croatia never got that far because of "serious songs" we chose, now we decided to shock the world :)

LYRICS EXPLAINED✨ Tractor is a reference to Lukashenko's birthday gift for Putin. In the song, Putin is described as "little vile psychopath". The vocalist represents Stalin, while other guy has written on his head NJINLE (word game: LENIN). Mother ŠČ is a metaphor for mother Russia, and crocodile is a drug popular in Russia that makes people behave like zombies. Lyrics could be translated like this: Mama bought a tractor Mama loved a moron Bridge: (The most chaotic part of the song; letters of Croatian alphabet) Mama im going to war! That little psychopath Little viscous psychopath Crocodile psychopath Mama, I'm going to war 💡fun facts: 💃Let 3 has been on Croatian music stage for over 30 years, they are known for making provoking, satirical songs based on political events 🚜They actually arrived to Dora music contest on tractor ✏ŠČ is the oldest letter of Croatian's Glagolitic script originated in 9th century

So, they basically put whole thing/rhythm into a popular Istrian folk song "trajna nina", that's why whole song revolves around that rhythm. "Let 3" band is from Rijeka, a city in Croatia close to Istria. 2nd thing is their outfit and performance. this could be their usual outfit (we're used to it in Balkans ever since they started performing) but this exact outfit is representing a dictator, especially Stalin (not Hitler like some ppl mentioned!). Stalin killed a lot of his own ppl in Soviet country, like Putin is doing now in Russia! that's the point. this whole song is about anti-war, anti-Putin (not anti-Russia). next thing is song title "Mama ŠČ", ppl correctly assumed it's "Š" letter (number 25 in Croatian alphabet) and "Č" letter (number 4). you combine those 2 letters you get letter Z (29th letter). so "Mama ŠČ" is actually "Mom Z" aka Mother Russia. next are all the lyrics. so "Mama kupila traktora" - mom bought a tractor, meaning (probably) Lukashenko gifting a tractor to Putin, meaning Belarus agrees to being Russia's ground for military training and everything else, aka Russian's bitch. next one is "Mama volila morona" - mom loved a moron. this basically means Putin is/was in power for decades and noone in Russia could do anything about it, which is true. "trajna nina Armageddon nona" basically revolves around the fact that this whole song is made from that folk song >>my 1st sentence pullout ---> probably meaning PUTIN since it's backwards (play of words). so this masterpiece of a 3 min song is still being understood fully, with lots of help from my fellow Croatian boys and girls, and there's maybe even more to uncover, since band didn't tell us anything.

You're mostly correct, but... You said the outfit doesn't represent Hitler. Outfit maybe doesn't, but if you pause the video at 1:17 when he says "mama idem u RAAAAT", you will be surprised with the "image". :D Btw. it's 1:17 in the real video. In this reaction video you can see it at 2:07.

As a Croat who understands lyrics, I would also like to provide an additional interpretation of the first two verses. So the first verse goes "Mama kupila traktora", and it actually doesn't literally decode to Lukashenko buying a tractor to Putin, but to Russia "buying"/bribing Belarus and establishing control over Belarus. That's because "kupila" translates to "she bought". Also, беларус (=Belarus) is the best selling model of tractor in Belarus, and this makes the parody more apparent. This interpretation is important for understanding the second verse "Armageddon nona", which is harder to understand. "Nona" in Croatian means grandmother. So if "mama" = Russia, then "nona" = "Soviet Union". This makes more sense if you consider that Russia "bought" Belarus, and has now transformed itself into new Soviet Union who wants to be an empire (armageddon nona). Finally the nonsensical spelling of alphabet letters in the middle of the song actually represents unification of (Soviet) states into new Soviet Union, which is now represented with a new symbol "ŠČ". Also "ŠČ" is parody of letter "Z" which you can now see on Russian tanks deployed in Ukraine. So the whole performance must be taken into account while interpreting it, because this isn't a song you can listen to on radio, but a mini opera that makes a parody of horrors of totalitarianism.

This is not my comment but of the person who introduced himself as penguin, I copied it only because it perfectly explains the point of the poem and I wish that as many people as possible read this and that they don't ask what Croatia is, this is all a parody against the war, I hope that the author of this comment will not be angry with me because he I am spreading it further, but not as my comment but his personal one penguin 7 hours ago My ŠČ! is a song by the rock-punk group Let 3, which won at Dora 2023 held on February 11, 2023 in Opatija. The song will therefore represent Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool. According to the authors of more than 100 reactions to the song published so far on KZread, the song is amazing - a spontaneous, organic and compact amalgam of metal-rock, children's rosary, punk, classical opera, psychedelic music, marching band, slet (mass games) music, with a concrete reminiscence of chaotic Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, with elements of pop and even dance music. It is already clear that it is the most original song of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, and one of the most original Eurovision songs in general. According to the comments of numerous listeners on KZread, it is an art song with a strong message, but also a parody. Flight 3 complemented the ingeniously composed music with great choreography and stage performances, so many commentators on KZread point out that it is immediately clear that this is an original masterpiece, which will undoubtedly be noticed and remain prominent in the annals of the Eurovision Song Contest. The words of the song are cryptic, and they mention the mom who bought a tractor, the mom who a moron, a small vile psychopath, armageddon-nona (grandmother), and they end-up with the line: "mom, I' I'm going to war". The meaning of the word "ŠČ", which is repeated after each verse, is particularly mysterious. The song is intentionally allusive (because Eurovision songs must not have any political message), and has a fluent meaning. Her interpretation is greatly helped by the fact that the main vocalist, Frlja, with make-up resembles Hitler from Chaplin's "The Great Dictator", but also wears a Stalin's mustache, and it is clear that this is a parody of all the "little vile psychopaths, crocodile psychopaths" who push humanity into nuclear war ("armageddon"), symbolized by missiles carried by a bald man with the word "Njinle" (an anagram of Lenin) written on his forehead, although he is actually dressed as Rasputin, which represents an additional transition of meaning and performance into the surreal and the counter-reasonable. The tractor mentioned at the beginning of the song probably refers to the tractor that Belarusian President Lukashenko bizarrely gave as a present to Russian President Putin for his 70th birthday, and which - given that Russia finances Belarus - Russia bought for itself. The word "mother" (which bought a tractor) therefore means Mother Russia, and it is also symbolized by the double voice, i.e. the letter ŠČ, for which there is a special sign in the Russian alphabet (Ŝ). "Mama ŠČ" therefore means Mother Russia, although the song is not anti-Russian, but anti-war, because it "trolls" i.e. mocks and/or ironizes (with make-up, costumes, choreography, words and music) all those (both Hitler and Stalin) who, for the sake of the pleasure of their own domination, turn the world into a private playground of war, the price of which must be paid by the "little man". The words "moron" and "psychopath" are therefore based on all those who start wars, as the co-author of Mrle confirmed in his interview on February 16 on Bosnian television, and not only on Putin, as stated in most media, although the allusion to him is perhaps clearer than others.
