homebody here too! Love learning how to maintain my home and self care. Love summer vacations, that's what makes teaching worth it lol

I feel you! Even after 8 years of teaching, I still find myself taking on small projects regarding classroom organisation, lesson planning, or just researching techniques. It allows me to transition back into teaching very smoothly while giving me the time to make small changes to my teaching style, think and re-think new ideas, adjust to the new curricula, and free up time for boring admin stuff. At the same time, sitting drives me crazy and some of these projects are a nice creative outlet for me for when I'm too tired to tackle a big project at home.

I love the slideshow! That’s my preference because it is so visual and I know how it is being shown to the students

When I student taught, I put everything in a Google slide as my students knew what was expected but ultimately it kept me more organized. I also put a check next to each item as we completed it and that way they could see their progression.

Thanks for this. It is so helpful to see your slides. I am just starting to use slides this year. I also love the tip about using a pencil and highlighter to keep track of what you have done and what needs to be done.

It's so nice to look back at my plans for the week and transfer over what wasn't highlighted to the next week. It makes planning 2 weeks ahead less stressful. I can still fit everything in, even if I have to push it back a little.

I'm going into my first year of third grade (second year with my own class, and third year teaching), and this is SO helpful, thank you!

Good for you for getting started! We begin August 3 with students, but go back August 1 (there's no way I'll get stuff done on those days with meetings and stuff). I started planning too since I'm moving from third to second.

That is exactly why I do it too! There is never enough time to get it all done. I want to get out of there right at 4:00 once I go back to school. Preparing now will help me do that. Also, good luck in 2nd. I taught 2nd for 6 years and I loved it!!

New to your channel. So excited to watch all your content. I’m also such a home body and love to do crafting things. I’m all about planning and organizing early. I’m already doing the same. I’m a Homeschool SAHM of 4. (17,15,10,5.) We have a homeschool classroom in our home. We are from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing! I agree creating and using the Google slideshows each day keeps me very organized. My first grade team and I started creating very detailed ones using during the pandemic. They're also helpful when students are absent or quarantined at home. We post them daily in our Google classrooms so the students and parents know what we learned each day. Easy to work on the slides as a team and then make a copy to edit and tweak for our individual class needs. Hope you have a great year!

For some reason, I thought that you were putting coffee grounds into your beverage. When you mentioned that you were using ground up Oreo cookies, then that made sense. Continue to enjoy your vacation. Take care.

I made the slides myself that way it makes it really easy to edit throughout the school year. I have a video coming out next week that goes into detail what my slides looked like the school year and where you can find them if you were interested in them.

Whenever I get the itch to start I try to ignore it for a while, but then it wont' leave my brain. I just decided to go all in and then get back into summer mode ASAP!! The first day of school for me is August 8th.

I agree I'm a new Teacher. Still haven't set up my room because of the floors, still waiting. Next week is the new Teacher camp. I already got the first week fun activities. I have to find how to make procedures and routines now. 😃. I know my curriculum gave ways on how and what to do. I'm teaching 2nd grade English and Reading. Any tips on making them.

Hey Jen, it’s another Jen here but I’m a teacher in the UK! Love your content - makes me so motivated! Question - what are ‘centres’? Does it mean different groups of kids are doing different activities? And is a ‘read the room’ the same as an ‘around the room’ or ‘classroom tour’ where there is information dotted around the room and they gather info on a worksheet? Thanks! X

Yes, centers are independent work for students while I pull small groups. Read the room is exactly how you explained. 🙂

It's a Happy Planner. I got it from Joann Fabrics, but they have them at Michaels, Amazon, and even the Happy Planner website.
