I appreciate your keeping of Sabbath, God bless you, However you can heat your cold food on sabbath and eat. you can just quickly heat in short time. God is very practical and i am sure He does not tell us to eat cold food and gives us no option to heat on Sabbath. Seventh Day Sabbath should be kept holy, that is 100 percent true.

  • @RabbiRappaport

Yes, Jews that observe the Shabbos according to traditional Halacha, turn off the light in the refrigerator before Shabbos begins. You are correct that the Torah explicitly states that you may not kindle a fire on Shabbos. The complex laws of Shabbos are derived from the accompanying Oral Law that was given to Moses at Mount Sinai and subsequent Rabbinic Law. If you would like to continue this discussion, please email me and we can pick up the conversation.

You can open and close ziplock bags, use knife and prepare sandwiches on Shabbos. Once you get the hang of it it won't be so overwhelming. Keep strong and you'll find it very rewarding. • @RabbiRappaport

Thank you for your question. Very important halacha that would get you different answers from different Rabbis. I would say that it depends on how hot the warming draw is. If it really is only warm, not hot enough to cook, it would be ok to put fully cooked food there to get warm. If it is hot enough that it can cook something, you should treat it like an oven and not use it on Shabbos day. If you want to discuss this further, please contact me at askrpr2@gmail.com

Reheating fully cooked food is not prohibited on a Torah level. The Rabbis of the Talmud guarded the Torah law by instituting the way that we should run our kitchens. If you would like to explore the background of the Rabbinic law, please contact me at my email address and we can continue the discussion. As far as safety is concerned, of course you have to take into consideration who has access to the kitchen and find a solution that works in your home. There are ways of doing similar things that don't require such a balancing act. Good observation! Have a Happy, Healthy and a Sweet New Year!@@susann.1618

Rebbi Mori: Continue the harbatzas of basic Halacha Lmaasei clearly with demonstrations. HaRav Rappaport shlitah like his Rabannim s a man of many hats. His shteibel later shul brought a true feeling of Shabbos in 1990s Mill Basin Brooklyn. A Yisherkoach to Reb Moshe Bein Avrahom Donelly shlitah for filming and posting this much needed material being viewed by thousands. Actual real Halacha…not raincoats for hats. Halevay, Shomer Shabbos Yidden should focus on the hargasha of Shabbos as opposed to the minutia that weren’t addressed by Gedolim like Reb Moshe.

Who made these rule? It's a very valid question. Keep in mind the Jewish religion believes in two torahs from G-d . The 5 books of Moses and the Oral law . The Jewish religion believes both were given at the same time. Now as time has passed our religion believes that there needed to be safe guards for the majority of humans in some cases based on human nature. Those safe guards are clearly man made but we believe inspired by divine influence. The ability to create those safe guards and customs and punishment as defined by our religion is not only allowed but encouraged by G-d. A perfect example is the holiday of Purim is clearly defined later but there are " laws" that must be followed like giving gifts and food for the poor.
