Please are you assuming that the 40 men should work for 20 days and want to know how many hours they need to work each day? There are 3 variables, Men, Days and Hours abut your second part of the question has only one variable (Men) an nothing is said of days but just want to know hours needed to work. If 40 men are to complete the work in 20 days then you focus on only men and hours. method 1: 30x9 =270 hours of work Therefore 40 people to complete 270 hours of work you need to divide 270 by 40 = 6.75 hours which is 6 hours 45 minutes Method two. Men and hours of work are inversely related Men Hours 30 9 40 h so h/9 = 30/40 h = (30x9)/40 h = 6 hours 45 minutes. Hope that helps.
