Let’s start with the verb ’Учить’. And here’s the catch: it means both ‘to Learn’ AND ‘to Teach’! 🤯
So, how do you know its meaning in a particular phrase?
You'll know it from the context!
Учить + someTHING (like a school or college subject) = to learn (Я учУ рУсский язЫк)
Учить + someONE (a living being) = to teach
You'll learn more examples from the video!
❗️I had hard times finding an appropriate / better English word for an "animate object" (a living being), and in the video, I'm calling it "an object"; please, read it as "a living being".
⬇️
Я учУсь игрАть на гитАре = I'm learning to play the guitar
Я учУ игрАть на гитАре = I'm teaching to play the guitar
The verb ‘Изучать’ also means studying something, but at a deeper level, professionally, exploring a subject:
Изучать + smth = to study smth at a deep level, professionally (Я изучАю кибернЕтику)
'Учиться' and 'Заниматься' are both reflexive verbs. You might think that you'll have troubles conjugating them, but rest assured, the things are easier than they seem. The main difference between these two verbs can be described as following:
'Учиться' = to acquire new skills
'Заниматься' = to practice the existing skills
Учиться + infinitive = to learn how to do smth (Я учУсь игрАть на гитАре)
Учиться = to study (Я учУсь в университЕте)
ЗанимАться = to be doing smth / to practice some skill (Я занимАюсь рУсским)

  • @RussianComprehensive

    @RussianComprehensive

    3 жыл бұрын

Not really, because "русский язык" isn't a skill (unlike speaking it). The best way is to say: Я учу русский язык, and if you want to underline that you're doing it on your own, you can add "сам" (on my own), or "самостоЯтельно"; "без учителя". You can also say "Я учусь говорить по-рУсски", but it sounds a little more specific, as you're mainly focused on speaking, rather than learning the language as a whole. я учу + a noun я учусь + a verb

Не очень понятно. Если студент хорошо понимает фразу " Я учу собаку сидеть", то зачем ему всю эту грамматику объяснять на английском языке? Зачем смешивать всё в одну кучу? Учиться в университете - это одна история, учиться плавать - другая. Ведь первая ошибка, которую делают студенты, - это "Я учу в университете". Мне кажется, что было бы гораздо понятнее, если бы учиться - научиться + Inf. и учить кого + inf. было в отдельном видео.
