Both sentences here use the passive voice (so both are correct). Active voice: I completed the task Passive voice: The task was completed (simple past) Active voice: I have completed the task Passive voice: The task has been completed (present perfect) The real difference here is that 'the task was completed' indicates that the task was completed at any given time in the past (the task was completed in the past, before the statement was made). The task has been completed is in a present perfect form. Meaning, you started working on the task at some point in the past, and *just* finished it/completed it *at the time of speaking* Hope this helps! :)

Hi Rajeen, there's a simple trick to remember this. 'Being' is used with: am, is, are, was, were. 'Been' is used with have, has, had (having, will have, etc.). So in your example, "the forest is being destroyed" is correct (වනාන්තරය විනාශ වෙමින් පවතී) The forest has been destroyed means - වනාන්තරය විනාශ වී ඇත/ විනාශ කර ඇත. Of course there are other differences between the two, I'll try to create a lesson if it helps :)
