That was a great scene, great performances. It still is relevant and shocking. It still conveys the horrible hollowness of the era and the decease (Addiction). Great, great performances. The evasion and the tension at the same time. Really really good scene.

I've watched this scene 100x, and at 52 years old, it's the closest thing I can find that can replicate the crazy magnetism of young love. There's nothing like it. When just the presence of that other person is more powerful than a schedule 1 narcotic.

@@ew9433 Less Than Zero is such a different movie from Pretty in Pink ... That movie has lost its appeal for me as I've grown up and realized what it was selling it's audience. Less Than Zero holds up and has a weight about it that John Hughes doesn't achieve with that flick .... Give me Breakfast Club any day over that Pretty in Pink movie. Hell, I like Sixteen Candles better .. has better laughs that's for sure.

Haven’t watched this film in a long time. I never noticed how awkward Jami Gertz’s voice is in this scene. She’s trying to sound pleased, but make no mistake, she is scared to death. I also think the first third of the film would’ve made more sense if it had been the first time these three had seen each other since graduation. Hadn’t Clay come home only four weeks before for Thanksgiving and caught the other two cheating?

You know Clay should have gotten back on that plane and finished school because his two friends Blair and Jullian were long gone. Nobody couldn't fix Jullian because he was a mess and Blair said that. She was scared and afraid when she saw Clay b/c he didn't know the truth about Jullian and the music is so haunting. Thomas Newman Less Than Zero soundtrack is on ebay now and Amazon.com. I have it. When you look deeper at Blair & Jullian they didn't have anything nothing they had Less Than Zero b/c the title speaks for itself. Robert Downey Jr is a good actor be beat his drug addiction and became an Avenger and Ironman. His career took off and he hasn't stopped since. I am so glad to see Robert Downey Jr play a superhero and he has made it on the right track.

I like when Clay goes up the stairs (see other video on this site) and has a serious look on his face (he looks pale) because that serious look shows he is serious now about Julian, now that he sees him because I think Jullian has a problem, it's different now, have you seen Jullian? 'I think Jullian is in a lot of trouble', he didn't get back on the plane though then they wouldn't have made the film but I agree with what you say in your comments here ... same

It’s remarkable how, when he’s about to leave because he’s not going to white knight Julian for her, that’s when she pours on the “do you think of me” shit ... at least by the end of the movie it’s implied her feelings are genuine, but this is a fairy tale on that level

It was a last ditch effort and she did what she had to do to make him stay. She was very torn in this scene and the complexities of what she was going through were too much.Acting in this movie was quite amazing, still one of my favorite films ever!

Yikes!! The walls have orgy-type patterns on them. Wtf?! This was a great movie, & pretty much realism into the downfall to come, Robert Downey Jr was secretly experiencing. Basically playing himself. How did I never notice those walls, though?

Jami Gertz, I think, is just like she was in this movie. I don't know if she's really a great actress, but she's great on screen.. I mean, she plays this character so well, and I kind of think she's just playing herself, from memory. James Spader is a minor character, and he's so young, but amazing. Robert Downey Jr. is awesome. Maybe too awesome, this movie is his early life. Weekend at Bernies is good. Soundtrack: Rad. Cool J: trad. And I walked away with a bangles CD.

The acting wasn't great, but the music, and the shots made up for it. Jami has always been a really bad actress in my eyes, but like gaming, a good group can carry you though a dungeon.
