Yes, jedi NEVER pull their lightsabers out unless prepared to kill in the high republic era. ...just ignore all those times they pull their lightsabers out to deflect projectiles coming after them, to threaten people with, or to just casually use as a flashlight without anyone saying anything about. Also, FYI, high republic is a disney exclusive era that hasn't been doing well in terms of selling books. So maybe the premise isn't all that interesting to begin with.

Whenever I look back at my high school fangirl writings, I cringe. And I'm not even one of those yaoi shippers! I still can't even read some of them now. I can't imagine how someone could be 100% serious about bringing her highschool fanfiction to life on screen and making it canon. In STAR WARS. This is a dark day for the fandom.

This whole notion that the Jedi were less than good is a false notion. When Lucas wrote starwars he didn’t just make up the “the force”he didn’t just make up “the Jedi”. The Jedi are a mash up of samurai and crusade era Christian knights. The “force” is based on the pre-Christian idea of A “Spiritus Mundi” basically a universal spiritualism based on the notion of the good of the many creating a greater good. if everybody is good and does good things and treat each other as they themselves would like to be treated, all is good in the hood. Like wise if everyone is corrupted and everyone one is out to rip everyone else off… things are bad and bad things just happen. This positive life force-negative life force is prevalent in most religions ie karma. In starwars the ppl themselves are becoming more and more corrupted “clouding” the sensory pathways the jedi can usually access. This perverse behavior of the ppl is in turn creating pathways for users of the dark arts such as the sith and witches. It’s the ppls behavior strengthening the dark side not the Jedi. The writers are horrible in this series in understanding this parallel universe created by Lucas. In many ways it mirrors our own with characters having many of the same problems as ours. Just as we can’t use magic to solve our problems neither could the ppl of georges universe.

DEI was actually made for white people because their population is in decline. I would happily want them to take it down so that black people and other groups own their own platforms and only pay for them so that when white people eventually realize they can't sustain themselves as a minority group just like South Africa, they'll actually have to win over black and brown people to accept them into their majority black entertainment stations. None of this ideology ever entered my mind. I see people as people and Fantasy as Fantasy. I just heard that term in this video & had to look it up. My life was not enriched by knowing the meaning.

This is how you fail with the enemies-to-lovers trope; force-shipping two bad characters together that have neither reason nor incentive to be together, no shared history or aims, no chemistry between themselves or with the story, yet trying akwardly to make it the centerpiece of it all. Tha Acolyte is a textbook example of bad storytelling. At least, it could be used for that purpose.

Headland picked up on the 1% of ‘Star Wars’ fans (or curious normies) who were just hoping for a steamy heterosexual romance, in a queer-coded story, now confirmed as High School fanfic, and hastily rewrote most of this episode to accommodate all the cat-moms coming up with ship names. Just look at that bump in the RT score!

I’ll give you that, but how was the story developed. Was it a thirst trap or an exploration of the force from Luke’s own fall and redemption. It wasn’t just a shark jump thirst trap.

@@nuaua There are some important differences, Mara gets several books worth of character development before her and Luke start any serious romance, she was brainwashed from a young age by the Emperor to do evil things and even when she's still struggling with that conditioning we see that her nature isn't evil or shallow and I suppose most importantly she was an EU character, so technically you're correct she wasn't canon or at least not George's canon. I guess I'm just playing devil's advocate because I know these people will use whatever they can to degrade Star Wars.

@@rector0455 it’s true. It’s storytelling, and character progression. Not only that, but a constant exploration of the force itself which was debated and reimagined through the eu, given that Luke wasn’t trained in the nuances of the force. He was yoda and obi wans sword against palpatine and Vader. There was so much about the force itself that was explored via Luke and Mara jade’s time. Even after her death by Jacen Solo. It’s not just a stupid plot device, which is why I said that there’s nothing like this in all of Star Wars on so many levels. The Jedi themselves don’t fall simply because of arrogance. They fall because of the influence of the Sith, and a few seeking power. Anyway. There are so many mazing eu stories and the only one that seems to get it is Filoni. Let’s hope he can keep kk and disneys agenda driven machine out of it because the only question they seem to ask is how can we make starwars shit.

I'm honestly just surprised that Leslye Headland is allowing a straight ship in the series at all. And a different time? This was only 200 years ago.
