@leslieodomjrofficial delivers pointed humor in 'Purlie Victorious' |

Nominated for a slew of Tony Awards, the satire tells the story of Black preacher’s scheme to reclaim his inheritance and win back his church from a plantation owner. Playwright Ossie Davis wrote the book in 1961, basing some of the dialogue on his own upbringing in racially segregated Georgia. Then and now, the scathing comedy aims to expose society as much as it entertains.
