Leroy Looper: Celebrate A Life of Giving

On Saturday, November 6, 2004 (San Francisco), Leroy Looper's family held a special 80th birthday celebration for him with family, friends and honored guests attending. Background: In 1977, Mr. Looper and his wife, Kathy, bought the Cadillac Hotel (built in 1907, SF Landmark #176) through their non-profit, Reality House West. For over four decades, the Cadillac has provided affordable housing and support services for thousands of low-income single adults who would otherwise have no place to go. Mr. Looper was the leading advocate and champion for the Tenderloin from 1976 until his death on September 11, 2011. He was affectionately known as "The Father of the Tenderloin".
