Leopard Attacks Newborn Hippo Calf

Shortly after being born a mother hippo tries to lead her tiny newborn calf away from a lurking leopard on the edge of a waterhole. The Ntomi Male Leopard chances his luck and sticks very close to the hippo until a moment presents itself. He launches an attack as the mother looks away.
Thankfully, the mother is quick to react and chases the opportunistic leopard away.

That's a "Fresh" Newborn Baby Hippo... if you look under Mom's Belly the Sak is still swollen... It's little landlegs hadn't Strengthened enough.. VERY VERY VULNERABLE But Oh So Cute... ❤🦛❤🦛❤🦛❤🦛❤

very brave leopard...probably just its predator instincts kicking in...no way was he taking that new-born in that situation...
My goodness I got so scared that pradus would snatch the little one. He is so small and adorable - was he just born while they were in the water? Wow🙃💫🌪️

To me, if you look closely, looks like the baby is already limping or hurt coming out of the water. I know it's still young so maybe I'm wrong.

I think this baby was literally just born in the water and was wobbling because it was making first steps. Incredible- I had no idea before watching this that hippos can five birth in water but after watching this I googled it and apparently Hippos can give birth in water and/or land. This footage is incredible, wow

Attack doesn't necessarily mean grab it by the throat and kill it. An attack could be clawing an animal and then getting scared off.

@@grievousmink3889 With a leopard, as beautiful as they are, attack-kill-food up a tree if mother wasn’t paying attention is EXACTLY what was being thought ! They’ll play with their cubs, but not looking for contact with a hippo calf for any other reason.
