when u have to replace the engine in field condition the turret has to turn to 90 degreee angle. When the turret side armor ist not removed u cant take the engine out of the tank, thats why u can move the armor. great job by the wy, looks very good

The armor is believed it or not hollow, the rounds penetrate into the cavity rotate slightly so when they hit the actual armor they hit an angle so it can't penetrate basically think of throwing a knife at paper itll go through easily pointed forward throw it at its side and it probably won't go through... or at least nowhere near as easy

2:12 The side armor is movable because equipment of the tank is also stored there. By the way, we call this part of the armor "Elefantenohr" (elephant ear). And if you want to open the engine cover, you also have to open these ears.

@@justinmorgan2126 No. The tank would then no longer be able to move its turret, which would be very impractical. Besides, the space next to the turret is too tight. The infantry would fall off the tank very quickly. Believe me, you don't want to be standing there when the tank is moving.

@@justinmorgan2126 riding on a Tank while it conducts combat operations is suicide by third person. Tanks are bullet magnets. And a moving tank turret is very dangerous to mounted infantry, as it can sheer of or maim limbs, squash torsos etc. Also firing the maingun of the tank, while tank riders are mounted on the vehicle severely endangers the mounted infantry due to recoil, concussion etc. During combat Infantry NEVER stands optop, infront or to the side of an AFV, only to the rear and this also only when the vehicle commander and driver know, that they are there. In general the infantry covers the vehicle from a certain distance to the sides

@@justinmorgan2126 why would infantry be standing 1.5 meters off the ground next to the turret. The turret will knock them off or crush them when it turns lol. No, the guy is right. I have used a lot of different plastic cement and have forever switched to Mr hobby thin along with using the brush it comes with for boxed models. It’s thinner than tamiya and the brush provides a better connection in most cases aside from when you have extra small or fragile parts in which case I would suggest using the thing brush as if you use too much glue the fragile parts can break when put under stress such as when pushing keyed parts together however if you are just careful this is rarely a problem. I also like to use the larger glass bottles of plastic weld when scratch building or attaching load bearing parts as it is a much more aggressive type of solvent and provides an even better bond. You can also add about 15-20 ml of 100% acetone to tamiya thin to get it to behave like mr hobby, the glue will most likely turn slightly cloudy but it will not affect its properties and can be thinned even further on up to around 25% acetone if needed depending on your application. I love this hobby and I swear by that little blue bottle and while tamiya is very good and comes in at a close second I would have to say mr hobby is better and if you haven’t tried it order a bottle and give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed.

The reason the turret armor is removable is because its basically a metal box, the shell hits the first plate enters the empty space starts to turn so when it hits the actual turret armor it hits it at a worse angle, that part of the reason the leopards armor is so legendary. So that being said its removable as it probably makes it easier to replace... let's just say I know so much cause the leopard 2a5-a7 are my favorite thanks... got a love that arrow head turret
