Leonard Simon Nimoy was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Dora (Spinner) and Max Nimoy, who owned a barbershop. His parents were Ukrainian Jewish immigrants. Raised in a tenement and acting in community theaters since age eight, Nimoy did not make his Hollywood debut until he was 20, with a bit part in Queen for a Day (1951) and another as a ballplayer in the perennial Rhubarb (1951). After two years in the United States Army, he was still getting small, often uncredited parts, like an Army telex operator in Them! (1954). His part as Narab, a Martian finally friendly to Earth, in the closing scene in the corny Republic serial Zombies of the Stratosphere (1952), somewhat foreshadowed the role which would make him a household name: Mr. Spock, the half-human/half-Vulcan science officer on Star Trek (1966) one of television's all-time most successful series. His performance won him three Emmy nominations and launched his career as a writer and director, notably of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), the story of a humpback whale rescue that proved the most successful of the Star Trek movies. Stage credits have included "Fiddler on the Roof", "Oliver", "Camelot" and "Equus". He has hosted the well-known television series In Search of... (1976) and Ancient Mysteries (1994), authored several volumes of poetry and guest-starred on two episodes of The Simpsons (1989). In the latter years of his career, he played Mustafa Mond in NBC's telling of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World (1998), voiced Sentinel Prime in the blockbuster Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), and played Spock again in two new Star Trek films, Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013).
In January 2014, Nimoy revealed publicly that he had been diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a condition he attributed to a smoking addiction he had quit about 30 years earlier.[112] On February 19, 2015, having been in and out of hospitals for several months, Nimoy was taken to UCLA Medical Center for chest pains.
On February 25, 2015, Nimoy fell into a coma, and died of complications from COPD at his home in Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, on the morning of February 27, at the age of 83. Adam Nimoy said that as his father came closer to death, "he mellowed out. He made his family a priority and his career became secondary." A few days before his death, Nimoy shared some of his poetry on Twitter: "A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP". It was his final tweet.
He was buried at Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles on March 1, 2015. The service was attended by nearly 300 family members, friends, and former colleagues, including Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine, and J. J. Abrams. Though William Shatner could not attend, he was represented by his daughters.

Great video as always! I’ve never suggested or made a request for a video; but when and if the timing is right would you consider doing a video for Twitch? Hard to swallow that he committed suicide……sometimes you just never know what people’s reality is like in their mind.

I will one day. The crazy thing is it’s less than a minute from Phil Hartman’s house that I just covered. I got coffee right across the street from that motel. I was looking right at it , and now this. So bizarre. My heart goes out to his family .

Excuse me / FU. COPD is no joke, And alot of people suffer from it , before they die of it. The only thing, I can hold Nimoy against , was he blamed "smoking cigarettes" ,30 years before. LOL His words were still typical of the " PC" propaganda campaigns that have been going a long time. That idiot , when he was dying, blamed cigateettes , which he quit, 30 years before.LOL I much rather like him, when he was doing " In Search Of"

definitely a man and character that will never be forgotten… nothing else to say!!
Wonderful actor. May he continue to rest in eternal peace.
The music you used for this video was so peaceful to listen too. Who doesn't love Leonard Nimoy, he's great.
Thank you so much for this, Scott. Spock is my favorite fictional character of all time and has had a deep influence on my life. Leonard passed about 2 months after my father died and it’s a double whammy I’ve never quite recovered from.

My dad passed away about 4 years after Nimoy, but just the sight of Spock will bring me to tears. My dad emulated Spock as much as possible. God bless, fellow Trekkie!
Star Trek (and Star Wars) were a staple in my household! Mr Spock did look pretty exotic, unlike anyone else and did all the cool science stuff with explanations. Any wonder we kids all turned out to be engineers? RIP to the legendary Leonard Nimoy. LLAP - live long and prosper!
"four pillows in the window" is gonna be a hit single! 🤘... RIP Leonard 🙏😔
I grew up watching Star Trek because of an older brother. I have always been a Spock fan and was devastated when he died of COPD. Which I also have. Live Long and Prosper Leonard Nimoy RIP. You almost got it Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
I love that guy. He was everything good about Hollywood and how to act when you're super famous.

Im like that wrestler from WWE: he tried to say something. But he says….. ………. ……. The he says Damn!!! So I can say is:……… ………. ……..Damn!!!.
I have been a life long Star Trek fan , it all started with that original show when I was maybe 3 or 4 years old. When Mr Nimoy died I decided to take my grief and turn it into something positive , as he was an artist , I felt the need to channel his passing into some kind of art , so i went home and pulled all my Star Trek stuff from storage , from the closet, from under the bed , from where ever I had put it ( some of this stuff I had not seen in 20 years or more. ) I stood looking at this pile of toys , magazines , cards , comic books , calendars , signed 8x10 I had collected over the years going to Star Trek conventions. ( and yes I had met Mr Nimoy multiple times over the years at those cons. ) I started cutting everything up, I made a pile of clipping , I started making a collage , after a few days it was done.. as a devotee of the Burning Man festival I knew exactly what I was going to do with it , I would take it to the temple burn at the 2015 Burning Man in Aug of that year , I hauled it out there , walked it out to temple early Monday morning , found a place for it , secured it to the temple wall , and there it sat till Sun night , then it burned as we all watched.. then in July of 2016 I see this trailer for a documentary called " For the Love of Spock " directed by Adam Nimoy, Leonard's son. I see my thing in the trailer burning , I had to stop and do a double take, I could not believe it , I was confused as to how it was there in the trailer , but very proud at the same time.. when the film came out I went to Beverly Hills to go see it , and was amazed at how it was presented in the film , it elevated the sentiment 100 fold that I was trying convaye by creating the collage in the first place .. originally it was just a thank you and a goodby to Mr Nimoy from me to him , in a creative positive way, and I had presented it to my fellow burners out at the burn, only thinking they would ever see it .. but now it has been immortalized and presented to the world , and hopefully anyone who sees the film , his family , friends, and fans feels they can say thank you and goodby as well.. .. .. ..
I luv star trek. 1 of my favourites. I luvd it when Spock and doc wore together there were funny. Another great actor gone shame great man. Thanks for the memory of Leonard nimoy. May he rest in PEACE 🕊️ from UK 🇬🇧👍👍
Thank you Scott for the Video on Leonard Nimoy. He'll never be forgotten. And he'll always be Mr. Spock to all of us who love him, and miss him still 💙
Great actor who was so talented in many ways. He played Spock in the Star Trek TV show and movies. He also did the voice for Master Xehanort in some of the Kingdom hearts games. He is truly missed.
What a Beautiful grave for Spock...very nice. RIP Leonard. Great video Scott
It's crazy Leonard died from COPD from smoking cigarettes and he had quit for 30 years before he got COPD so it's kind of crazy how what you do when you're young catches up to you when you get old. Or could have been the warp core on the Starship Enterprise

Awesome timing! Have Rockstar, comfy chair… will enjoy. Thank u, Scott. I needed this one today. 😊
This cemetery in Culver City is beyond gorgeous! The water features alone are stunning, but then to have memorial plaques attached to landscape stones & boulders along the water's edge - just wow. IMO beats the crap out of regular, run of the quarry mill 90° granite headstones. And you're right, Leonard Nimoy was a very loved and beloved man. I enjoyed him as Spock and as the narrator/producer of 'In Search Of ...' #LLAP 🖖
I loved watching the original Star Trek and In Search Of. Seemed like a humble man and loving.
SCOTT! you are the best brother, thank you....
Growing up with spock on my tv he's like part of everyone's family. So glad you showed his beautiful home told a little about his life. And then his final resting place is so beautiful calming and relaxing. Love from Gill Holmfirth West Yorkshire UK 🇬🇧
I loved his acting may he always rest in peace. I had a small crush on him in my teens but I get small crushes on everyone and still do being married lol 😆 😅 😂.
I remember me and my friends greeting each other in his language and my fingers was hard to part 😆 🤣 😂
Awesome job, Scott. Nimoy is more interesting as the person he is than the character he portrayed. So many talents. Actor, singer, director, writer, poet. His intellect and care carry over into so many facets of life. More than Spock....that's what I'd call a biography about him. Folks should check out some of his albums, especially the 3rd and 4th. Very interesting and subtle cover songs from the early 70s. I think he wrote some of those himself as well. Anyway - thanx for this Nimoy tribute. Great job as always. Until next time....Take Care, my friend.
Hi Scott 🙋🏽. Good Evening, I hope you had a awesome day ‼️ thanks for sharing this with me ‼️👍🏽😃.
This was a great episode Scott. The particular area of the cemetery where Mr. Nemoy is buried is very lovely, and so peaceful with the various waterfalls and fountains.
What a beautiful spot. I've never seen a markers on stones like those by the water before. That's gorgeous.

I was hardcore Trekkie for many years. Spock was my favorite character. I got to meet Leonard Nimoy, along with Gene Roddenberry and many of the other Star Trek actors as a teen at several Star Trek conventions I attended. I still have an autographed photo Of James Doohan. I loved Star Trek TNG as well. Data was my favorite character from that series. Brent Spiner's acting ability amazes me. He is hilarious! Agreed even though the show only had three seasons and 6 movies some of the adventures Kirk and Spock got involved in haven't been matched. Great vid. I actually met him and shook his hand at ComicCon in San Diego back in the 20-teens. He was sitting at the table before he was due to go on and there were hordes of folks streaming past him and not noticing he was sitting down. I saw him, went over and said "Hi Mr Nimoy, Rhodes Reason (Flavius) says hello, and he stood up, shook my hand, and said "Please call me Len and my gosh, how is that old gladiator?" We chatted for a few minutes before folks caught on. A sincere and humble man and I count myself lucky to have been in the presence of Trek greatness!
