As for me , Cuba , and , as far as my musical work Is concerned , it is the sum of great men We should necessarily start by mentioning , Martí , and what they’ve done , that’s what I call cuban culture. My music has nothing to do with a folklorist , picturesque or touristic vision , I could care less. I’m interested in digging in what Acosta Leon , Fidelio Ponce, Porto Barrero did , to read on the great giant alejo Carpentier , see the work of Mr. Eusebio Leal . That’s my Cuba. How does it impact my work? By influencing me with that richness given to me by those men , all which is already a part of Cuban culture; And as I’ve said I believe it is the setting of my surroundings, which is made up of some sort of beauty, a must have for me as I develop a piece of work. I do not believe in improvised or enlightened ones , the enlightenment comes from the work itself, not the man on his own , but from what he believes 😊 PS this is a quick translation so that you may have an idea. I just stumbled across this. I’m sorry your kind request for a translation took 4 years

Helen Drabsch Uros Teofilovic When it comes to my work (the music) I see Cuba as the sum of its great men (starting with the essential Martí, to the present); they are responsible for what I call the cuban culture. My music's got nothing to do with a tourist-folk-picturesque view. I'm not interested in that. I'm interested in exploring Acosta León, Fidelio Ponce, Portugal Herrero (?)... reading the great Carpentier and seeing the work of Eusebio Leal; that's my Cuba! My work is influenced by these men's wealth that is already part of the Cuban culture. And I believe that is the environment that surrounds me; an environment made of some kind of beauty very necessary for me, as the development of a work. I don't believe in makeshift men, nor in illuminated ones. The enlightenment/the light is given by the work... it's not given by man alone, but by his work.
