    Great video mate. These things are so much fun but to be honest, haven't used mine in a couple of years now. I used to have it with me to help me break out of a rut. Probably need to get it back out again. Great tips in this video! Hope you are doing well and keeping safe!

    Really great guide on lens balls mate, I've never used one so it's handy to know! I like how you used that piece of paper to reflect the focus points. Intro was also 🔥 with it timed to music. Got some great shots with that, really liked the one you showed at 7:43 with the colourful BOKEH!

    Very good insight into Lensball photography , i have had one for a couple of years and only used it a couple of times, its a fair weight to lug around but really need to make more of an effort to capture something with it as soon as i can , currently trying to fit 10 internal doors and i am no carpenter ! lol

    10 Internal doors!! That’s way more tricky than lensball photography 😉 thanks heaps mate. I take it out when I know the landscape is conducive, otherwise I leave it at home.

    Thank you for the tips. I got another lens ball for Christmas, 100mm, but looks exactly like my 80mm that I already have. What's the best way to measure them, thinking I need to send it back for something bigger like 120mm?

  • @RalphMayhewPhotography

    @RalphMayhewPhotography

    I’d put it on a table and look straight down on it marking the first eat two side points then measure the distance between them. Or lay it on a tape measure. I’m pretty sure the mm is from one side to the other through the centre.

    Do the throwing the ball shot on grass. You drop it and its good. Also i prefer using mine for shots where its closed in like long narrow streets.

    is there a best type of lens to shoot with? Macro I assume would be a no - but what about setting the ball on the ground with a longer lens from a distance - say a 200mm? Just wondering what focal length is optimal in your opinion?

  • @RalphMayhewPhotography

    @RalphMayhewPhotography

    7 ай бұрын

    Hmmm good question. My hunch is any, depending on how much of the landscape/subject you want in the ball. Closer you get, the more of your landscape / subject would be included. That’s my guess anyway.

    I have thoroughly enjoyed your video as I have just bought a lens ball and your video has helped a lot but I do apologise but I have to correct you it's not the camera that depicts the focal length , it's the lenses . Just saying 😊

    Hi, what lens u use to shoot with lensball? Macro?

  • @RalphMayhewPhotography

    @RalphMayhewPhotography

    2 жыл бұрын

    You can actually use any lens. Just keep in mind the wider you go the smaller the lens ball becomes. I mainly use a 24-70 to shoot with the lensball however the macro would enable you to get really close.

    Thanks Ralph. Im figuring out right now which brand to choose. Seems to be a bit of a price difference between the original lens ball and the lesser known names. And apparently you can also buy a 150 mm ball as well. This should be interesting research. Thanks so much!!!!

  • @RalphMayhewPhotography

    @RalphMayhewPhotography

    Nice man. My experience is that a ball is a ball. The more expensive ones would have less light refraction and therefore better quality. Be careful with larger ones because they’re heavy. I reckon my 80mm weighs a kg. It’s a lot to lug around. Then you’ve gotta clean it and if it’s too big, cleaning it well is a mission :)
