If Lenovo were to come out with a Surface Duo 2 like device perhaps with a screen on the outside I would pay any amount of money to get it. Lenovo has an incredible track record for repairability that very few other companies have including schematics, repair guides, and hardware support long after the warranty has expired. I was able to get parts for a Lenovo laptop over 10 years old(not through Lenovo themselves but they linked to a vendor who had the parts on their website). I was blown away by their customer support who knew how to walk me through step by step on how to find the vendor through their website as well as what part number I needed to order as well as what the part number from the vendor might be. They even followed up later to make sure I got what I needed! Definitely a rare form of customer support that Dell refuses to do if you're out of warranty (unless you're willing to pay for their out of warranty support) . I wasn't even the original owner but Lenovo still helped me!
This is the kind of thing that Microsoft did months before they killed Windows Phone. LIke they would release a Microsoft Office update for iOS and Android... but not their own Windows Phone. So we kind of figured that they would kill WP then.
Lenovo/Motorola has been stepping up their game on mobile devices in the last couple of years. Not surprised to see this on the think phone which is really meant for business use. With Ready For on some of their other phones, I wonder when they may come out with a folding tablet/phone.
At $699 (many times on sale at $599 in the Lenovo Pro store) the ThinkPhone is a steal.

I am SO glad I never got into the Duo... it's just been a heartbreaking tale. Here's hoping that Google does a better job supporting the Pixel Fold than Microsoft did with the Duo.
i was deciding on whether i want to buy duo 1 and i was curious on many things before getting it and your channel has video for every possible question i had (even magnet charger plug!) such a massive work you've done
It is also on the Motorola Razr+.
You are very good at what you do. Clear concise and helpful.

Hey im thinking about buying one, the first gen
Guy, my Motorola Edge+ 2022 has this functionality. You can even use you phone as the mouse to open anything. This Motorola got right way before Duo - and it wasn't hidden. Easy to find.
I bought the thinkphone recently and really like it. I sold my Duo V1 last year.
Got the Phone - Stunning device
I've had my think phone since it was first released. It is a quality building and a quality phone in every way. I haven't had a single issue with it. And it's getting regular updates. My duo is now a Kindle reader.

Hello! How is the camera and picture quality? Also, have you tried this hub/ ready for system? I was thinking this may make for a better chrome book/tablet set up as we use Google services at my work. Thanks in advance!

@@bjperez9076 the camera is solid. I haven't used the ready for a lot, but it works well. The phone is still getting regular updates and I've had zero issues with it. It really is well built and functions well. Usually when I've had a phone this long I've had at least some minor issues by now. But I've not had any with this.
Has there been any significant progress on running actual windows on the duo? I sold my original and I have a Sony Xperia now and I've given up on Microsoft phones as a main phone, but I still love the form factor of that device and would like it as a secondary device.
Yippie the mainframe is back ;)
This may be overly hopeful for a return of Duo in the future, but this news isn't necessarily another nail in the coffin. If you know how these companies think, they could be using the funds from other brands to develop their software packages. Having these types of tools fully developed puts them in a better position to revive their own line of devices, not a worse one. It still probably won't happen but I would actually consider this a positive development.
After damaging my Surface Duo for the second time. Obviously, Duo was not for me. I just purchased the ThinkPhone from the Lenovo website and got it for under $400. I do have Windows 365 subscription so I'm looking forward to the integration.
This works with Azure Virtual Desktop. My Older OPPO phone has it as well

This is a must-have feature I never thought such thing will be possible on a phone. My question here is would it affect the desktop sales? Or maybe it's limited so it wouldn't affect desktop sales. They're the expert they should know what's best. 👍💯💪🏾✊🏾
Imagine Surface Duo with cloud desktops and VR for real intensive 1-on-1, in person collaboration :)
As I said months ago no surface duo 3. Microsoft has done this many times. Almost get it right but give up before crossing the border.

The latest I can say for sure that Duo 3 was being worked on was at the end of last year. A lot of people have been effectively saying "it's going to rain" everyday until eventually it does and then declaring that they knew it all along lol. Duo was dead as it got update after update, Duo was dead as it got a sequel, Duo 2 was dead as it got update after update, etc etc.. Microsoft ends up going through massive layoffs and the duo project was heavily deprioritized and everybody says "see, I told you!" Like I said, I have no idea when you made your statement, so I'm not saying you're guilty of any of this, just said a ton of people are.
To be honest you don't really need Windows 360. A way cheaper and better alternative is Shadow Cloud gaming PCs. Which for the price you pay a month for Windows 360 you you can get a Shadow gaming cloud PC with a 3080 RTX running Windows and Shadow works on DUO and any Android device
Have you tried the phone link app? It says you can use the SD wirelessly while on the computer

I have and it does an okay job but doesn't give a proper desktop environment.
No matter what I do I cannot seem to get the August security update to OTA to my phone. 🤷♂️ Restart nope, factory reset nope, check for update nothing, tried forced update through developer option, but no luck.

It's an AT&t device that could be why
Really do think Microsoft is giving up on the Duo too soon. I mean imagine if Google gave up on the Pixel after the Pixel 2 or if Samsung bowed out of the foldable space after the Fold 2, that's what this is like.
Another slap in the face for us Duo owners. It's become clockwork at this point and it's sad. This will definitely sour me on supporting any of Microsoft's mobile efforts going forward. I'm glad I didn't pay full MSRP otherwise I'd be even more pissed.
Does anyone know how many Duo/Duo 2s have been bought? Imagine if its only like 13043 worldwide, I wouldn't blame Ms for pretending it never happened either Writing this on Duo 2 btw
@scaryifliteral

It would certainly be very small quantity, but I don't think that's something that surprised Microsoft. It is most certainly a factor though considering the layoffs that preceded the Duo team being moved. In times like that you have to focus on projects that are making money.
@JordyShowWalks

@@scaryifliteral yeah, but Microsoft has more than enough money to throw quickly into a project to make it amazing before second iteration plus necessary updates, heck, I don't think I saw a single ad for either Duo. What gets to me is that the only experience Microsoft has, is creating almost perfect products that they let die (Duo, Neo, Zune, Band etc) but they keep on doing this same failing strategy. So Surface, which is one of the most beautiful lines of tech from any manufacturer, is excluded from the phone arena if they let the Duo expire, so in short, Microsoft has intentionally killed Surface Phones.....damn.

@@JordyShowWalksthey definitely have enough money but whoever is in charge at Microsoft clearly doesn't like Microsoft the way that us fans do. They do us too dirty too consistently. And let's not forget they canceled the surface neo. I was really really looking forward to that one. Super bummed out about how we can't get it and the best competitor is a Lenovo device at the time that is nowhere near as sleek and elegant.
Lenovo ThinkPhone by Motorola... Doesnt this sound weird? Sound like "We're presenting Ferrari FastCar by Volkswagen" :)
Motorola dropped the ball 🏈 on these as to display. When I pinch and zoom in on a photo, lets say for example a photo of writing or print on a retail box, the print is blurry. But, when i view the same image with an old 2019 Motorola's Z4 the image is clear. No problem on the 2019 Z4 to read rhe writing. So, as much as I like the rest of the phone, its going back. I tried two different Thinkphones and both suffer from the same issue.
Shane the Duo isn't not a big push from Microsoft they not enough sales of it to push software to them . If the customer base was big it would have been sent out.
Lets get the apk on the duo
I don't know why you would buy any smartphone without a dedicated desktop mode these days.

@@scaryifliteral I believe that it could be a replacement to every device in a household; for general purpose use. this doesn't mean Xbox and desktops etc don't have a place.I used to bring phone to uni and do presentation from phone, emulate and play games on TV from phone, edit videos on phone etc. You only need a dock or type C to HDMI. I believe windows phone if it continued would have solved this issue.

@@umbmmafor lite gaming and lite editing you can run the software directly on your phone. But that won't cover everyone's use case nor do most people know how to set it up. So an all-in-one phone solution won't be it for most people unless the solution is brought to consumers on a silver platter. Just like with all good ideas that Microsoft had, they did it too soon and half baked. I'm sure Apple will revolutionize the world with an all-in-one when 5G is widely available and you can connect to the apple cloud seemlessly to display Mac software on your iPhone, wirelessly connected to any monitor in 2030 ;)
I wouldn’t mind if a company like nothing released a foldable version of their OS for the Duo 😅🤧
nice and convenient but seems unsecure
It's safe to say that Duo is nonexistent to MS. At this point, they are only trying to honor the update timetable. They sust need to stick with software and stop trying to put out a mobile phone device. It's clear that other platforms get much more love, than their own device. How did they expect anyone to have confidence in the Duo line, when they refuse to develop the software? Despite the initial negative reviews, MS could have turned some of that with regular and meaningful updates. Tech sites and KZread content creators would have been more likely to revisit the device. On another note, I finally got to see the Pixel Fold in person. I like it, but it's so small. Lol
Come on, Microsoft!!!! !!!! Why?! Just freaking bring back Windows Mobile and Continuum or bring this functionality back in Surface Duo!!!
My so called "brand new" surface duo 1 feels unjustly slow
it didnt get many buyers because it was almost 2000 dollars. which is ridicoulous.
I'll skip the Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 because it doesn't have a built-in S-Pen slot, the Google Pixel Fold or the OPPO Fold will probably be my next foldable phone even though they don't have the pen‼️‼️‼️
I just got the lenovo yogabook 9i and i just love it . Microsoft keeps doing this .
Microsoft must somehow understand that not everyone uses a phone for work. Most want phone to just play.
This is a terrible service, anyway. You can't access your native Android apps or app data, you have to have network connectivity to use it, it doesn't use any of your native hardware (which is likely more powerful than the basic cloud PC they issue you - note the config shown in the video being dual-core, 8GB/128GB), and of course, it's yet another subscription service (and not a cheap one). A native desktop mode is the only way to go. Ready For desktop mode on the ThinkPhone is a far better solution than this and it's a shame Motorola/Lenovo aren't promoting it on the ThinkPhone despite it being a supported feature.
Nah... Lenovo have been doing that for years. It is just Microsoft is lacking.
You sound sad 😢
What sucks though is they want you to pay like $28 to $35 or $40 a month for a cloud subscription Cloud PC then again this is only for business owners. Nowhere during the promotional videos and commercials did it say anything about being exclusively only towards business owners It said workforce industry but that was about it. Hopefully come 2024 when they start to release the Windows 365 cloud PC this ThinkPhone feature will also catch up to it. Otherwise right now I consider a vaporware or abandonware!

I am a huge Microsoft Windows Phone and Surface DUO fan and owners of both 1 and 2, and now I have the Pixel Fold. So maybe Shane we could ask the audience, if Microsoft did release a DUO 3, and as rumoured the device had the same folding mechanism as the Pixel Fold and as the forthcoming OnePlus Open, and the price was about the same as those two devices, which device would they purchase and why?
