    I really hope EUV (if it's called EUV) is actually good at launch. Paradox's recent titles, on launch, seem to be on a scale going from completely disastrous (cs2) to bad (vic3) to mediocre (ck3 and millenia). Of course, they all get fixed over time, and vic3 has done a pretty good job of being fixed without dlc, but they really need to start making things good at launch, so that people will want to buy the game and it's dlc's.

    I would count Ck3 as well above average to be fair, but yeah I see it for sure.

    @LemonCake101 CK3 was absolutely above average for a paradox game, and I'd say better than millenia on launch, but it was still a bit barren in comparison to ck2 with full dlc. Of course, it was much better on launch than ck2 on launch, but I feel like the sequels should have at least as much content as the previous game on launch.

    @@adeafault2352 so 'as much content as previous games' is... really hard to do for a pdx title. We are talking $200 dollar games, with for things like Ck2 just simply event count. You could achieve this with a bigger team, for sure, but bare in mind that also creates its own problems with for example consistency. A release of that nature will be nothing short of a miracle: not impossible, but I would be incredibly impressed.

    @LemonCake101 I understand that it is hard, especially using paradox's dlc model, and I know that game development is hard. I respect the developers for creating the games I have had thousands of hours of fun on. But in an ideal world, i do feel like a sequel and it's dlc should be expanding on features added in the previous games, rather than adding the features in for a second time. (unless the feature is very outdated, then it should probably be revamped or reworked)

    @@adeafault2352 yeah, that's fair. I prefer still the CK3 approach, where the fact it's a new game lets them do things like make the travel mechanic, instead of being just a glorified 'in hiding' system

    Paradox can't get way from mediocrity nowadays. Games are not disasterous yeah but not good either, always ending up coming out to be a 6/10. Also I hate the UI trend they have been going with every game, it just looks cheap/low effort and mobile game-alike.

  • @LemonCake101

    @LemonCake101

    Yeah, mediocre is honestly a pretty decent assessment: there are some cool things but I wish they did more with it. As for the UI, I have heard it being compared to mobile UI, which I found weird, but then again I don't play things on mobile.

  • @LasTRoninN

    @LasTRoninN

    @@LemonCake101 I think that mobile game feeling of the UI just comes from sizes of every single window, there are so many things on screen and unnecessarily big which makes already cluttery screen feel even more cluttery, mobile games have same thing too but it is that way in order to make thing easy to click and see in a very small screen. Most of the time due to the large size of windows main game screen becomes almost unvisible, it feels so claustrophobic for no reason.

    Looks like a similar idea to humankind, I just don't like the trend of having no in built differences between civs. Oh well, Stellaris already is the closest thing to Civ V (my preferred civ), so I'll check on this in a couple years to see if its improved enough to be interesting.

    Yes, you can send an internal trade route, but that just adds to food to the city being sent, the sender doesn't lose it. So somewhat similar? But you can pass other resources too, like feeding luxuries to your capital.

Millenia is better than civ or humankind and game is stacked with mechanics that would be introduced as entire dlcs for new games. Like fantasy and spicy ages. Chaos and innovation. Etc.
