    Great interview! Just a question, can the dual boiler machines usually be powered-on with separate switches to each boiler? It would be very useful when we just need heat the brewery boiler to brew the coffee and hot water for an americano, while turn on both boilers only when making latte.

    Not currently. The flow restrictor on the bz group is located in a different location so it's not something that can be easily retrofitted. A new machine would have to be designed with this

    Hi, I would give the edge to the ECM based on build quality but if you add the flow control it costs 30% more than the Bianca and if you want the wood then that also adds to the price.

    Im in a toss up between this and the Profetek 700...what does one give up by going with the Lelit Bianca instead of the 700? On paper the Bianca looks a more feature rich machine, especially with the ability to profile out of the box. But interested in what the Hive mind thinks.

    Does the pid preinfusion overwrite the flow of the manual flow control? Not sure I understand what the pid preinfusion does when there is a manual flow control?

  • @iDrinkCoffeeCanada

    @iDrinkCoffeeCanada

    2 жыл бұрын

    Pre Infusion activitates the pump for a short burst but the flow is still regulated using the flow control device. For example, if it was fully closed you wouldn't get any water flowing through. Normally this type of preinfusion is set to a short amount of time, just to wet the coffee a little to allow the puck to swell before subjecting it to the full extraction. With the flow control you can restrict the flow and soften the preinfusion and make it much longer .

    This could be related to your flow setting or your grind. The best way to test is with a blind basket. A blind basket should have consistent pressure because it is solid. If you are getting consistent results with a blind the issue is likely the way the coffee is ground and/or distributed

    Hello Martin, the Bianca has standard components from the BG61-market - so this is the same quality compared to other 61s. The sheet is a little thinner compared to ECM or Bezzera but thick enough for solid feeling. You'll get an awesome machine with lot of accessories for a very attractive price!

    That was no pre-infusion you did. When you turn the lever all the way to the left from the start, you close of the water to the group head. In that case no pre-infusion happens at all (the pressure gauge never rising is clear indication that water never reaches the puck). You need to start with an open lever, allow some pressure build-up (2 bars) and then turn it off for the desired pre-infusion time before opening again for extraction.

  • @iDrinkCoffeeCanada

    @iDrinkCoffeeCanada

    You are correct that when the flow restrictor is fully closed that no water goes through. If you move it slightly counter clockwise you do begin opening it. It is possible to preinfuse at much less than 2 bars. Are you suggesting stopping the pump entirely and then resuming? That's a technique that I haven't experimented with but I will give it a try

    @@LowsHand I was watching a different video, and I thought it said it was also possible to programme a pre-infusion through the PID/Control centre, without manually using the paddle. Is that right?

  • @BensCoffeeRants

    @BensCoffeeRants

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@wytstriped I don't think E61 machines do that, there's a quick automatic built in pre-infusion (pressure builds up to about 4 bars for a second or two before ramping up normally) in many E61 machines but usually with flow control they install a stiffer spring in the bottom part which prevents that from happening so you get more manual control.
