Crazy how teams in the Prem use to thrive in these conditions - It was their bread and butter. Now they thrive under the sun playing some attacking rugby. Great to see the transition.

The artificial pitch also helps in promoting the running rugby although not all players enjoy playing on it. I can't remember Newcastle played in a non muddy pitch before the introduction of the artificial pitch.

That little bit of afters in the first half where the penalty got switched seemed innocuous but ultimately cost Saracens the game.

Surely the fact it was Innocuous is besides the point? Arguing a point with a referee is innocuous but still has bad endings for the accused side.

Massive statement from the Tigers, rested a load of key players and still got the win.

I liked the refs smile when Leicester scored the try. Kicking game first half. Saracens definitely had the potential of winning if not for giving a few silly penalties, nevertheless, a gg in the second half. COYT🐯

Well done Tigers. One bugbear I have with modern professional rugby is the officiating of the offside line. I know they received a penalty for other infringements but can somebody tell how, at 4.30, the entire Sarries defensive line is not judged to be in an offside position. No one is behind the hindmost Saracens foot in the ruck. It's lack of officiating here that allows defences to be so stifling.

Totally agree. What’s the linesman doing if not checking for offside. Keep changing laws to open the game up but aren’t officiating the current laws.

That ruck is developing and actually moving forward from a tigers perspective and if you look at the sarries players they're all stepping backwards to accommodate it, it's not clear and obvious in a dynamic situation especially to someone on the pitch. That's just my take though. Also because they're already playing advantage for an infringement you don't really know if they'd be called offside.

@@jebimasta4604 fair points but I don't think this is an isolated situation. Teams play on and over the edge because they are not well officiated in this area. Strict officiating will soon see defences take extra precautions not to be offside which will allow attacks that split second longer to develop.

Didn't show the penalty resulting in the kick to the corner, i wonder why. now correct me if I'm wrong the penalty came because Davies dived at the player on the floor. Which is fair enough but why wasn't it reversed when kelly dived on Davies and struck him in the head with a forearm deliberately. I understand rugby is a rough game but dirty cheap shots like this has no place in rugby.

Could have gone either way, neither side played well in dreadful conditions. Saracens should have had a man carded for repeated lineout infringements - got put on a warning, get out of their 22 then infringe again back in their 22 two minutes later and the warning is given again? Makes no sense at all. Great to see Tigers keep themselves in it and snatch the win at the end. We'll be back in the top 4 where we belong at the end of the season!

When did a bit of rain become “dreadful conditions?” Used to be that most rugby in the autumn was played in the wet. Fans and players simply dealt with it. But now, too many fans don’t own a hat or rain gear and the players cannot adjust their game to rain. That’s how we end up with artificial turf that erodes skin and causes horrible infections, not to mention joint injuries.

So why wasn't the penalty reversed at the end. Saracens player tackles tigers player on the floor. Penalty Leicester. However Leicester player then tackles sarries player on the floor with a shoulder to the head. Surely penalty reversed and a red card to the tigers player?

I didn't actually watch the game so don't know what the decisions were like. But I did a bit of background research on the referee Christophe Ridley. He was a professional rugby player for Leicester Tigers for 4 years and a rugby development coach for them for another 2 years after that. That combined with the smile he gave when he was awarded the penalty try does seem rather suspicious.

And in terms of evidence, he has listed his roles at Leicester Tigers on his own LinkedIn profile as well as it being mentioned on the RFU website that he played for Leicester Tigers in the Academy.

@@battlevgaming9887 i have no skin in the game and have only seen the highlights but I am a referee. There are offences at almost every ruck from every side. If we give every penalty you wont be able to watch rugby. obviously at a lower level but i gave 25 penalties yesterday while ignoring most because they aren't "material". It very hard as a referee to be bias because there is so much going on. It just a guy out there doing the best he can and we should respect that because no matter how much your star player is worth he doesn't get a game if the referee doesn't turn up.

@@jaymemcg i refereed amateur rugby games before the whole situation with the world. Granted i only did a couple of months worth. But at the end when it was clear as day that Tigers’ ball was slowed down considerably by Saracens being allowed to lie in the way. And then after that Saracens fans blaming the referee. Kinda hurts.

I'll cheer anybody beating Saracens, even Leicester. Dirty cheats
