Thank you for a wonderfull video. I shoot with an old Leica M6 - bought from new in 1996. A 35 mm1.4 ASPH Summilux same year. You were vey very precise. Yes - there are differences between the TTL and the old one. I´ve taken pictures I love with my Leica camera. I know my Leica inside out. Sometimes with the internal lightmeter - sometimes with a dedicated Lightmeter (Sekonic L-308S) You just have to have the eye for a nice photograph and know your camera. Then you’ll get it. Feel a little bit sorry for the people who have to choose a camera today. They have to remember that the good picture has nothing to do with the camera. It has something to do with YOU - the photographer. Nice gear is nice. Just not the most important thing. Again - thank you for the video. Just the way I think about taking important pictures.

Mr. Tanno, I enjoy listening to your reviews. You like your culture is so respectful and everything is done with such grace and art. I wish I could speak Japanese as well as you speak English. I too love the Leica M3, I have two. I appreciated your review of it and the 50mm and 35 mm lens with goggels. Keep up your great reviews. James Stratakos

Totally agree with your very wise friend that the TTL is ugly compared to the M6 classic. That 2mm makes a huge difference to the aesthetics. The M3 is still the most beautiful of them all, however. Great video 🙂

The TTL metering is good for FASTER SHUTTER speeds When you want to take fast action photos which is useful

What’s best camera straps for Leica M?

  • @nickcr3919

I think the reason why M6 doesn’t have self timer is because of the light meter.M5 had self timer and light meter, but was a lot bigger.Leica wanted a camera with light meter but with the size of M3.The only solution for this was to remove the self timer.

Hi Steven, I enjoy watching you videos very much. Some videos I watch many times. I have a few questions for you. Do you recommend to use color filters for black and white photography? I love your black and white film images do you shoot digitals too? Which lens you like better summilux 35 pre-A? Or Summicron 八枚玉? Thank you Steven! And wish you the best!

  • @StevenTanno

I only use filters when shooting landscape and mostly when shoot 120 film. Recently I shoot digital much rare but I like shoot digital with vintage lenses. Leica 50 f1.0 is an another very unique lens not say better, they are all good.

Hi, sorry for the convoluted question... I don't know if you can help me. I recently bought a used M6 TTL. I inserted a Duracell 1/3N lithium battery (also recommended by Leica specifications), but when I look in the viewfinder I don't see the red arrows and the exposure dot... I don't have a lens to try it. I tried without lens ... is it normal or should they see each other even without mounting the lens? Thank you.

  • @StevenTanno

They should be see even without lens, but you should advance the film and confirm speed dial is not on ‘off’. Then tap the shutter release.
