Hemis Monastery is 44 km away from Leh. The best suggestion to explore is to rent a bike.
Thiksey, Shey Palace, and Rancho School are about 18 km from Leh. The best suggestion to explore is to rent a bike.

Hi Ratna, I watched your road-trip to Leh videos & then this video. And now I just want to go here with my parents, who are almost sixty now. They are generally healthy, but mom has diabetes, which is well under control. I want to bring them by road to help them acclimatize better. As I've read that coming by flight is not suitable for a lot of people. I am planning to get a doctor's opinion as well before I plan the trip. Would you say it's possible for people of that age to visit and enjoy Leh during June? Did you see any other such tourists while you were there? Thanks for putting out these videos, these are really helpful, and they've convinced me to visit here, at least by myself. :)

Hey Gulshan, thank you for watching the video and glad you liked it. Yes, you can take your parents if they are healthy especially in summer it should be fine. Going by car or flight is totally up to you. If they are used to road trips then fine coz it’s a tiresome. If you go any flight, they will need to rest and acclimatise for one day at least.
