For someone like me coming back to Technic after decades, I'm really enjoying building this new truck (just completed stage 3 so it's really just some bodywork and the crane missing) and seeing how they crammed all the mechanisms in there, it's crazy when you see how much goes into the outrigger stabilisers alone - those might actually be the cleverest feature on it actually.

42128 is simply better because the very large number of manual functions it has makes it more fun, apart from the low price due to the lack of motors.

Nice video, but you wrote "service truck is driven by a large motor", but it's a medium motor.

Got the new one for Christmas this year, absolutely love it!

Great comparison. I missed the previous one... I think I felt it was overpriced. But the new one (which I do have) I'm very happy with. I also have 8285. Maybe I should post a comparison myself!

I would choose the older one because it's motorised but the new one is better in every other way

I'm quite surprised how cool it is without motors. I love motorized sets but this is a good change. It also lowers price per piece.

I got 42128 on christmas

So sad, Lego never put the rc function into these sets. It would be awesome these set can roll out.

what car is the irl prototype of 42008 model?

I am planning to get 42128 how strong is the pneumatic pump compared to a red lego shock by any chance? I haven’t owned anything with pneumatics yet.

It’s quite a bit weaker

2:27 42008 has an M-motor, not L-motor

42128 MA FAVORITE

Its basically cabover vs Long hood

I prefer the older one. Different functions powered by one motor and gearbox is more interesting than operating simple functions by knobs. In this regard 42008 seems way more advanced than 42128.

Just because of electric motor makes it more advance have you seen the gears in the new one more complex than just a bunch of gears

Could you compare 42128 with 8285？Both of them are pneumatic American tow truck without motors.

ah yes, 2013, when lego still wasn't thinking of putting differentials on their techie trucks and cars. that as by far the most lamest year for technic

I really like the heavy-duty tow truck because it is too big i ever seen
