We all agree that Rex should and needs to be available to the public at an affordable price. But it’s the deceitfulness and greed of Lego that has really left a bad taste. I’m shocked how many people can’t or won’t understand that.

It's not that people bought these as investments, other fans (under the idea it was exclusive) were shelling out $100 each to buy it. What LEGO did was unfair to them & benefited their own bottom line. Of course at the same time I'm very happy for your son and countless other fans that will finally get a Captain Rex figure. It's just an unfortunate situation caused by LEGO.

Nobody would buy a $650 set that they didn't want, and sell just a single part of it and only get like $100 of it back.

If you bought a 650 dollar set for a minifig, its on you. I'll be laughing at you when I spend 13 bucks for Rex.

When I was a kid I lost all my Legos. But when I quit drinking 4.5 years ago. I used Legos as the escape. I up to over 50 Star Wars sets and the wife go in on it and has over 25 sets herself. Mostly Disney. Got something back from my childhood that I had lost.

Amazing! I did the same before pandemic started as a nice past time and a way to cope with the rough times I had before and during that whole thing. It helped me through. Now I own over 50 sets without counting my old 2001 and 2005 sets. It's been a relaxing hobby but I need to sort my pieces so I can do more MOC's. Happy building and collecting to you.

Got 2 yesterday. One for me and another as a gift for a friend. So happy Rex minifig is not being held hostage by f***ing scalpers anymore.

This isnt me hating or whatever but in the instructions manual, lego never said that the either of the minifigures would be exclusive hoing forward only that they were exclusive at that time. They never said that there were no plans to re-release them so really the instructions were right as for the past 8 months, the minifigures have been exclusive

They still can. Maybe if this set sells really well (which it's pretty much guaranteed to do) they'll make a bigger one in the next few years.

They released two 501st Battle Packs in the last four years. Makes zero sense that Lego wouldn’t make Rex in a more affordable set considering that Army Builders are probably going to want a Rex for their 501st Army.

Agreed. In my opinion, the definition of exclusivity used by the people who got "decieved" is wrong. Exclusivity is not perpetual(unless stated so) Mandr said something about "lawyer speech" but i personally believe its just common knowledge. I think it’s a little overblown how big of a deal it is, but I do at least understand where they’re coming from. A lot of people did buy the Venator specifically for the Rex so I get why it’d be annoying to find out you could’ve waited a little bit and gotten the exact same one for $13. Does seem kinda like a sleazy business practice. But I think it is being made into a bigger deal than it maybe needs to be.

It'd still be expensive but that's a savings of over $400. These people have nobody to blame but themselves for spending money that wasn't necessary. I wanted the Rex figure, but I decided to wait and I was rewarded for my patience with a Rex price equivalent to a frickin' Big Mac meal. Maybe next time they'll learn to be smarter consumers and won't let FOMO grab them by the balls.

More like a rant than a review. It was exclusive for a time being (not to mention Yularen is still exclusive). Look at Funko Pops, they say exclusive to whatever retailer they're exclusive to, yet can be found at other places such as smaller shops. A pop can say Only At Target and yet can be found at a comic shop or end up at a Marshalls. Looks at video games, they may say "only for this specific console" yet can get ported later on in the future. It's also ironically hardly anyone complained about UCS Luke becoming a keychain, barely anyone complained about the P1 Commander in the UCS Gunship being featured in a Advent Calender, yet when Rex gets in a cheap set, everyone loses their marbles. Also, in the end, it’s a plastic toy. Yes, they make sets for adults, but in the end, they’re a children’s toy company first.

Ryan when a movie comes out on dvd when the trailer for it said only in theatres (he wanted it to stay in theatres until the end of time)

Lego has said figures have been exclusive for a good while and then included them in later sets, I’m pretty sure one of the early tie fighters had a storm trooper as an exclusive figure. I could be pedantic and say that the Captain Rex figure was exclusive to that set when it came out. Nothing in that copy says it would be exclusive forever. Exclusive doesn’t necessarily mean exclusive for all time and in perpetuity. It was technically true when the set was released. You can be mad about it, but if you bought a massive $650 set for a little two inch toy figure, that’s really on you. I think it’s fantastic that Rex is available in a very cheap set. I’m going to buy four.

They'll be on shelves at the same time though. And Lego plans ahead way further than the 7 months so they knew this was releasing when the Venator released. I personally don't think it's that big a deal.

I see no bad news here.

I missed Rex in 2013 and now I'm not going to. Who cares if it was supposed to be exclusive, Rex should be affordable to masses F for those who bought Venator just for this one

​@@stipkovich15Now I don't agree with Mandr about the Rex thing but I will say that is no longer apart of the Lego network (or whatever it's called) so he doesn't get the sets for free, from my understanding he buys it from people who somehow have the set early for a very large upcharge.

Its exclusive till it's not. Movie trailers sometimes say exclusively in theater's. Then it eventually shows up elsewhere.

I don't understand the argument of "I paid $650 and now my little plastic man is not worth $200" argument. I mean, did you buy the set with the express purpose of selling the figure and recouping some money? Probably not. The argument is more about poorer or more financially savvy people should not have what I can afford. - that's a bad attitude and they deserve to be duped.

its not about the price its about lego being scummy they arent your friend they purposefully marketed the first rex as "EXCLUSIVE TO THIS SET ONLY" and for alot of rex fans that pushed them over the edge for a purchase they wouldnt have made otherwise...... the only reason they said those words was to trick people and then later when sales and hype died down then they profit on the people who cant afford the set and act like nothing happened because they already scalped the first consumers..... this couldve been fixed by not marketing the figs as "EXCLUSIVE TO THIS SET ONLY" or they couldve released both sets at the same time but we all know why they didnt do that {ill give you a hint ITS ABOUT MILKING ALL THE CONSUMERS} they dont care about everyone getting a rex for cheap they care about min maxing profits by deceit and then acting like it never happened and moving on because people with no braincells dont see the reason they did this and because it worked they will do more and more decietful tactics and trick consumers into giving them money by using phrases such as "EXCLUSIVE TO THIS SET ONLY" and people who dont see how thats a problem are either stupid ignorant or both

Lego did not lie. “Are exclusive” is not the same as “will be exclusive forever”. Lego didn’t say that in the instructions to drive sales. Who the heck is making the venator purchase based on a random line in the instructions?

@@QuiGonJeans It actually doesn't mean perpetually though? Exclusivity, in its definition only means special product limited to (blank) it doesn't state time or perpetuity in the slightest. Also one more thing since you're probably not gonna you're mind on this, its probably only the Star Wars department that is to blame not the entire "billion dollar company im deffending" since, well other themes (well most since im not sure about DC or Marvel) don't pull anything simmilar to this type of "decieving" acts. So if any Star Wars fans want to actually make a change, it wouldn't be right blaming the entire company or the designers, probably the department that does revisions to wording and packaging before shipping. (not that anyone should harass them anyways)

I understand it right tho… When this venator came out, Rex WAS exclusive to the set. It’s not anymore, doesn’t mean that the first statement is wrong, it’s just not true ANYMORE. Ik it’s cheeky from Lego and don’t defend them from doing it tho they should precise if it is going to be exclusive for ever or just for some time .

Rex WAS exclusive to The Venator at that time. Did they say anything about exclusive FOREVER? Unless you have some sort of disability or somehow can't read, buying a $600 set just for a minifig is dumb.

​@MandRproductions, we all know what exclusive means, but exclusivity only applies to the object at the time, and for a time, it was exclusive, but through demand, and lack of buyers lego made rex more available. Is he still exclusiv? No. Is it ridiculous to assume he would stay exclusive to the venator? Yes, it is ridiculous to assume or think that.

@@Crazybeachproductions its not about the resellers here its about false advertising lego is not your friend they want to make sure to milk the consumers not the scalpers they said specifically "EXCLUSIVE TO THIS SET ONLY" for a reason to get loyal customers to buy in with fomo to then turn around and stab them in the back...... and if thats not the case WHY DIDNT THEY RELEASE BOTH SETS AT THE SAME TIME...... its the same fig and a microfighters set takes the least amount of time to create it doesnt take 8 MONTHS TO MAKE A MICROFIGHTER SET..... they did this for VERY specifically to milk not to help and its scary to think what links they will go to for milking purposes because its already proven to be successful by cavemen like you who are focused on the wrong issue here who gives tf about scalpers but this doesnt hurt scalpers only it will hurt you eventually when lego does something scummy to max profits AGAIN

Man are people salty. I’m so happy this microfighter was released. I was never able to get a Rex figure as a kid, but now I can have one for the low low price of $13. But for real, if you bought the UCS Venator JUST for the Captain Rex figure… well sucks to suck i guess. Lego should have had their terminology right in the Venator marketting material, and for a time it was true, both WERE exclusive to the UCS Venator. How much time has to pass before Lego can release the same figure in a lower priced set? Or are they just not allowed to because one person in the fanbase with a big platform says so? This is a huge win. Scalpers, resellers, and “investors” might have to think twice now lmfao.

Timed exclusives, much like video games nowadays, would solve this issue entirely. The Venator drops, then six months or a year later, this Rex Y-Wing drops and no one would complain as long as the timed exclusivity was announced. Heck, put Yularen in a battlepack, dual molded legs and all, watch what happens then.

I’ve never been a huge minifig collector nor I have cared significantly about super detailed figures, I buy Lego for the builds. Not sure how many others feel the same way.

Them saying rex was exclusive isn't lying because it was true at the time. Just like how spider man and God of war were exclusive to playstation but now they're on pc

its not about buying a 650 dollar set for a 100 dollar figure, its about the set you bought for 650 dollar now has 100 dollar less value. I dont know, why so many people are not understanding this^^ Also, i know some people who sold this figure to finance the set and get it 100 dollar cheaper.

As someone who cant afford anything close the UCS sets, getting this Rex figure like this is amazing. Obviously it was shitty of LEGO to lie like that and I feel for the fans who bought the UCS mainly for Rex but this one happened to work out very well for myself and probably most fans

Minifigs are exclusive/unique to a set until they are not. I feel like its always been like that

To be honest I just think that Lego will earn more money from all the people who can afford a Captain Rex with this set than with the incomes of the Venator sales.

In the end of the day Rex has been exclusive for months, people buying 650$ set for whole one figure are their own problem lmao

@@Mann528 no they weren't, and i say this as someone who owns countless of the old 212th battlepack. it's just the printing near the fin that's better on the old one. the newer 212th grunts and airborne troops are an improvement in every other way.

If we want to get really technical, the figure WAS exclusive to the UCS Venator at the time. They never said it would stay exclusive.

Great to finally have Captain Rex in an affordable set!

I'm glad that you mentioned the rangefinder falling out. They "had to" add the helmet holes there, but they couldn't even be bothered to make the rangefinders fit like they did in all of the other old helmets with holes. And it's not even like they just don't turn very well. I have a 501st officer whose rangefinder just slides itself out if I leave it to sit for a few minutes.

That sucks. I hope you can find a solution. If not then I suggest swapping out his helmet for one of the troopers in the Grogu's escape set, since they have the exact same helmet

"exclusive" was never clearly defined. Seems those who are outraged just made an assumption it meant "indefinitely exclusive". LEGO could be more clear sure, but there are bigger fish to fry.

I am all for this set. I love Captain Rex, but I couldn't afford to get him in the Venator. And the figure was exclusive when the Venator came out. So, from a certain point of view, LEGO didn't lie. Plus at least Yularen is still exclusive. Also I guess it's an unpopular opinion, but I love Microfighters. A cheap way to get a decent build that comes with usually a good figure and doesn't require too much room. Perfect.

Can’t wait for the Venator Microfighter in 2025 to have the exact same Admiral Yularen figure

I rarely comment on videos but I just wanted to leave a short thank you note here. I held out on buying the UCS Venator because of your prediction that it would come along in a cheaper set soon even though I wanted that Captain Rex minifig so bad. Pulled the trigger on the UCS AT-AT on this years May the 4th sale and can now get the fig in this very accessable set. That really worked out for me in the end so thank you!

Bought the Venator because I wanted the Venator, exclusive Rex was a bonus. I'm a little annoyed that the figure I was told would be exclusive will no longer be, and if anything I just want my book to be accurate. However, I'm also ok with Rex being available for a much more accessible price point, I want a couple more to sit in different parts of my collection and wasn't going to pay the exclusive tax to get them. I'd feel better about it if the Rex in the new set was not quite the same - missing the band aid, or the arm printing for example.

i think it will stay the same, mostly because of the printing and the cloth pieces (figures that have cloth pieces usually are expensive on the secondary market)
