best year probably has to be 2012. Jabba's palace, palpatine's arrest, gungan sub, malevolence and the old republic line. 2013 is also a pretty fair match

@@Andrewdeank I didn’t get any Lego sets during that time period, I only got some of them way later in 2023, and they r still better than most other sets. 2012/13 was sort of the peak in terms of building techniques. The only major advancements would be Lego using smaller and smaller pieces for griebling, whereas in 2005 a lot of the set build are kind of empty or floppy

there's a weird feeling you get flipping through an old instruction book building an old, sealed set. I am so grateful I have a good job and can buy sealed retired sets from my childhood!!

They touted Revenge of the Brick HARRD. They had this short video at the end of the Cartoon Network animated Clone Wars DVD. Love it, 2005 was my year for LEGO Star Wars! It made me a Star Wars fan! I have the whole wave!

Hey Ik this totally off topic but do you worry about heel cracks when you display your figs without heel protector piece wandering because you don’t put them on and I’m wandering if it’s worth the trouble. Great stuff

Great question! I myself WOULD care more if I was planning on selling the figures. As it is right now, I don't think I've seen any cracks on my minifigures that have been displayed on studs, so I'm not too worried about it personally

Hey, for artwork you could’ve just gotten the last Lego at at, not the most recent but the one released before that because it comes with a poster. It also had snow troopers with waistcapes which was nice

2000, 2004, and 2007 are my favorite years of Lego Star Wars. 2000 and 2007 had some of the best Phantom Menance sets, and 2004 and 2007 had some of the best original trilogy sets. 2005 is also an amazing year. Early to mid 2000s Lego just hits different.

2005 had great set choices, but nostalgia aside none of them live up to today's standards as far as build quality and attention to detail go. "great for its time" = wouldn't be well received today That being said, besides the point of "the best year of LSW", it's great that you got to relive childhood memories and had a fun time building your new set!

I totally get what you mean and agree partially. When I say best year ever I mean content wise, marketing wise, new sets, new figures, new ideas. So although the builds won't compare to anything we have today because of new pieces, I still personally believe no other year beats out 2005 with all of it's LEGO Star Wars stuff going on! Although there are years that come close in my mind

Great video! About the droid: Obiwans droid in Ep2, Ep3 and the clonewars is R4-P17 R5D4 is actually that droid from A New Hope which they nearly buy at the sandcrawler rather than R2. There is another figure of R5D4 in the Lego 2011 X-Wing. I dont know if there is some lore there about it being the same droid but cool inclusion!

Best bit is he went from the ARC 170, to the sandcrawler, and I think i read somewhere that he ended up as a Rebel droid, then after even longer fell into Mando in the Mandalorian
